@nitromeplay this spot was made in the 90's, when steve jobs rejoined apple. at this time, he wanted to remember the people of what apple meant when he and woz founded it. and, also today, this spot is very good, cause it remembers us to be individual.
You guys do know they aren't literally talking about how you should think while choosing a computer, right? It means that as a company they want to help people (creative, innovative people) and not just sell boring business machines. Sure the message is silly and trite, but it's better than the alternative.
@David0794 yeah dude less than 10% of the market share = mainstream
You're an idiot. Apple always was designed to appeal to the most amount of people possible. This ad is just a marketing tool. Its not, nor ever was Apple's philosophy.
@brace110, no that's exactly what they mean. Jobs was a master of marketing and design. He created a cult of personality for himself and Apple by crafting a public image that was hippie, Randian hero, and everyman. It was bullshit. And he promised through these ads that you too could achieve this with a Mac. It's about selling computers because this is a fucking COMMERCIAL from a COMPUTER COMPANY. That's what they do: sell computers, not inspire people for free. I guess I just think different.
@MrLivePositive8 i have a macbook, i'm happy with it and i think they're great computers. all i'm saying is apple don't do anything truly unique and it's a bit self-indulgent to present themselves as gods when they just make nice products.

@ilikevines Same can be said about books. Books made knowledge transfer more cheaply and widely. Personal computers did the same. Macs made personal computers more accessible to average people. Windows followed later. But now, iTunes is making cottage industry more of a reality for content makers - music, movies, apps, games etc. The power is in the distribution which like knowledge in the old days, was a barrier for most folks. So yeah, change world, push human race forward, etc.
@ilikevines You want to know how Apple benefited me? Currently I own only Apple iPods, that is it. Apple's former CEO, Steve Jobs gave a speech that inspired me and helped me get through the "noise of other's opinions" and it will continue to help me because I have this drive, this desire and ambition. I feel great and know I can help and become great and I will. This video helps me a lot too. Just wait and you will witness my success. You might not know it is was me, but it will be me.
@ilikevines They do. Hell steve jobs sold his first car to build one of the most popular and advanced corporations out there. This man created Pixar. But the commercial isnt just aimed at him or Apple. Aimed to inspire those who want to make a change...and the only way to do that....is....to think different than everyone else.
i dont know how come you understand this video to be about computers. its about innovation, thinking outside the box, THINKING DIFFERENTLY. just like Steve Jobs did.
Before someone makes the assumption that PC'S were first or the PC'S are better. let me remind you. Mac was the first personal computer. that's right "PC" the two Steve's put the "PC" IN "P-C" so, with that said. I am sick of you PC nerds on here saying "Mac's suck. they have computers 5 times the price" the reason is because, Apple does it in a way it doesn't get like 500 parts from every other computer and call it a computer. you dimwits. STEVE FOREVER.
Brilliant...is it possible someone can provide a complete list of the people in this vid. I got:

There would be no Samsung galaxy nexus "iPad Killer" because without the iPad there would be nothing to "kill". Steve jobs wasn't mean to anyone. He just wanted to change what we do. PCS now have multitouch track pads. Where did that come from? MAC TRACKPADS AND IPODS AND IPHONES AND IPADS. PCs have some touch s
I was expecting this video's ending to continue with a one last essential endorsement: "The one's who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the one's who do: Ron Paul 2012".
@cobalt2402 you must be a freaking anti Christ if you even think that. I mean like with windows for example, I hate it. I don't like that bill gates made it. But I seriously don't want him to go rot somewhere or die because how Steve jobs is. Freaking grow up.
The words "think different" were created by Chiat/Day art director Craig Tanimoto. The text of the various versions of this commercial was written by Rob Siltanen and Ken Segall.
i feel like this commercial does a great job in describing myself. i feel like a lot of people believe the same thing, but it is the blind leading the blind. people don't question what they hear. they just do what everyone else is doing. people need to think for themselves and choose their own path, not a path that is based on solely making money or whatever your friends are doing. if you think differently but intelligently, oftentimes, you will find yourself doing what's right.
Okay I know for sure that at least 11 of these 17 famous people were (are) dyslexic. Albert Einstein Richard Branson John Lennon Thomas Edison Mohammad Ali Jim Henson Picasso Ted Turner Bob Dylan Alfred Hitchcock Frank Lloyd Wright Are any of the others? Dyslexia affects between 10-20 % of the world's population. That's over 1 BILLION people! Unfortunately, most aren't successful. Print Inversion may be the key. Can someone help identify the ones I didn't get? einstein bob dylan m.l. king jr. evil knieval john lennon ? muhammed ali andy warhol maria callas mahatma gandhi amelia earhardt alfred hitchcock ? Dunn? Muppets creator ? picasso
This is one of the most inspirational things I've ever seen. I've never fitted in, never thought like other people, but this makes me think that maybe it is worth it :)
@000DarkNite000 Apple aspired to do what Einstein, MLK, and Ghandi accomplished in changing the world. It means they have to be different to the point of some people calling them crazy. And people did when Apple shipped iMac with no floppy drive and now Blu-Ray. People also thought they're crazy when Apple opened the Apple Store just after Gateway closed all of theirs. And some people thought they had no chance in the smart phone market because there's no physical keyboard on the iPhone.
@Screenhog67456 Steve jobs was a douche bag who denied his own father and daughter. He sued anybody who tried to challenge him and had a bad temper which often resulted in overworking his employees and creating an environment of fear. He was a thief and a hypocrite. He exploited the organ transplant system so he could get ahead of everyone else, and went through with a transplant even after he had cancer. That liver could have saved someone elses life. It was wasted on him.
@HugrunL95 He also spent shitloads of money on extravagant things, did strange things (And most likely sexual things, too.) with random people's children, and much more. He doesn't belong in the realm of John Lennon and Bob Dylan.
@xXMaggieMaeXx Uh… you don't think Lennon and Dylan had extravagant things, did strange things and much much more? Music business giants and all the girls they attract and you think this?
Hahaha, it's just a joke. Actually, I have a PC, but considering getting a Mac. I got the new iPhone, and it's spectacular. I'm just doing the old YouTube joke where you say "(Number of people who wouldn't like this video) disliked this!"
@nemisis254 Why not? He made dance and music what it is today, just look at any performer! They dance the moonwalk, side-moonwalk, robot, crutch grabbing...every MJ move! He gave more to charity than any other pop star (300 million dollars) and he spent as much time visiting orphanages and hospitals as he did on stage! He wrote songs like We Are The World and Black or White to tell people that it doesn't matter where you come from we are all people and we have to heal our planet!
would have been nice to see some faces of classical music in this: Beethoven, Mahler, Prokofiev...they all were just as innovative and inspiring as the guys shown in this video...life-enhancing to say the least. still, nice vid
Possibly the best commercial ever made. Truly inspirational. I see a lot of comments here about the relative merits of the persons shown, but each contributed to society, be it culturallly, politically, economically, or artistically. Personally, I was not familiar with Buckminster Fuller till I looked him up after watching; I learned something new. This is just a wonderful ad that celebrates an individual's ability to add to the collective good.
@TheDjohn300 Do you really think a bunch of spoiled, socialist 20 something year old hippies push the human race forward and change things? would you compare some random protestor to MLK or Einstein or Bob Dylan? I think not
CAPITALISM was designed only for CORRUPT OPPORTUNISTIC MANIPULATIVE LAZY POLITICIAN. BANKERS. LAWYERS. DRUG LORDS. JUDGES. CRIMINALS. DICTATORS. RULERS. KING. SULTANATE. EMPEROR etc. etc..
HARD WORKING PEACE LOVING HAPPY HONEST SOCIETY were always the slave victim and poorly starve to death. :(
@RippleAffectMedia yes, I agree, but again here goes the old "it is complicated" argument. And really, it is complicated. Apple did something extraordinary and he could hand it over the to mass market only through massive workforce like China has. Now, it is a Chinese factory with Chinese management, they know what to do to make their workforce work better. It is a difficult argument to have, both side are wrong and right.
@RippleAffectMedia the line "Arise, Arise, Arise, Millions of hearts with one mind" is from the Chinese national anthem, not some line that Apple or Foxconn made up to brainwash their workforce.
the people i look up to most are in this video! but i think it should have the wright brothers helen keller winston churchill and all four beatles not just lennon and walt disney an maybe charles schults! its a shame that now days kids look up to celebs like paris hilton and kim kardashian and they havent done shit!
Steve Jobs IS a great respectable person because he really knew how to live his life and follow his heart. He was one of the few people who really knew how to be happy in this life. It's not about money or technology, it's about the amazing example of the human spirit he gave, just like all the people in this video. Yes, Steve wasn't perfect but he IS one of the most impressive geniuses I've known. The people who can't see this, don't or can't get what is this all about, and they are judging a
That's not the point. Its about looking at the world from a different perspective. You can say he made not made an impact like Einstein, but he changed the way people approached puppeteering forever. The Muppets are Sesame Street, Yoda, Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, Dark Crystal, The Storyteller.
@Coppercabisafraud I'm not saying apple is crap. People would buy crap if it had an apple logo on it. I dislike it because they charge more money for a product that looks maybe a bit nicer. And people fall for it. They are small minded and only think apple makes good products.
I don't like cheesy commercials like this one! The other thing is that Apple didn't invent anything new. They just put existing technique into fancy covers and sell it as worldshaking material.
@tsdf2 they find the best techniques, patent them, put a fancy cover around it and sell it for big ass prices because they're the only company who's allowed to use these techniques. pretty damn smart, and a price tag doesn't make a product any less brilliant.
@shewolfen1 I stand by my point. Is it "thinking different" to buy an item that has sold over 4 million times in 3 days? No. Your arguments are invalid.
@DockterWho Yes, i bought a galaxy s II for half the money of an iphone. Apperently thinking logically is thinking different in this world. People would buy crap if it had an apple logo on it.
@Diepvries1 So, if we buy something cheaper, we are thinking logically? And if we think differently, we wouldn't buy a popular product that 4 million other people have purchased?
Basically, I think you are just trying to justify the fact that you didn't have enough money for an iPhone and are trying to bash others that have one.
@DockterWho This is the exact non logical apple thinking. Something that is cheaper cannot be as good as an apple. You're right. It's better for less money. That to me is logic. Saying i dont have enough money for an iphone/mac is also the best argument apple come up with. Its not an argument because its not true. Coming from an alienware laptop that would blow any macbook away.
@Diepvries11 Lol, you are always saying something is not an argument, yet here we are.
Maybe it is just me, but I like stability, no viruses, and the ability to leave my products running for months, before rebooting or powering down.
Now, go away troll. There is no rebuttal that you can give that won't result in the entire internet community laughing you to scorn. Be gone! I shalt acknowledge thee no more!
@Die You're right about the religious aspect and like with actual religions, you should respect fanboys rights to enjoy their apple products. Besides I'm not sure you can call it fanboy-ism now that they are the biggest tech company in the world. Kinda seems like it isn't just a niche group anymore, don't you think?
@shewolfen1 I sure have. But apple fanboys are like religious people. Theres no way to convince them otherwise with reasonable arguments. If you like to pay twice as much for a gadget that looks nice, be my guest. I prefer the things that are best.
Regardless of the various opinions of Apple, I think most people would agree that this is one of the best commercials ever made.

Hahaha, it's just a joke. Actually, I have a PC, but considering getting a Mac. I got the new iPhone, and it's spectacular. I'm just doing the old YouTube joke where you say "(Number of people who wouldn't like this video) disliked this!"

Am I the only one that think that Michael Jackson should be in this video?
and they should have had more women there! ...Liz Taylor, Vigdís Finnbogadóttir and Mother Therese maybe?

@HugrunL95 lol Michael Jackson? really? No just no....
nemisis254 2 months ago
@nemisis254 Why not? He made dance and music what it is today, just look at any performer! They dance the moonwalk, side-moonwalk, robot, crutch grabbing...every MJ move! He gave more to charity than any other pop star (300 million dollars) and he spent as much time visiting orphanages and hospitals as he did on stage! He wrote songs like We Are The World and Black or White to tell people that it doesn't matter where you come from we are all people and we have to heal our planet!

This commercial is quite different from the mission statement said every morning and night at the apple factory (In China).
"Arise, Arise, Arise, Millions of hearts with one mind"
Quite different from "think different" don't you think?
RippleAffectMedia 3 months ago
@RippleAffectMedia yes, I agree, but again here goes the old "it is complicated" argument. And really, it is complicated. Apple did something extraordinary and he could hand it over the to mass market only through massive workforce like China has. Now, it is a Chinese factory with Chinese management, they know what to do to make their workforce work better. It is a difficult argument to have, both side are wrong and right.
49fiori 3 months ago
@RippleAffectMedia the line "Arise, Arise, Arise, Millions of hearts with one mind" is from the Chinese national anthem, not some line that Apple or Foxconn made up to brainwash their workforce.

@BigBagsforRent
Jim Henson changed a lot.

They just put existing technique into fancy covers and sell it as worldshaking material.
tsdf2 3 months ago
@tsdf2 they find the best techniques, patent them, put a fancy cover around it and sell it for big ass prices because they're the only company who's allowed to use these techniques. pretty damn smart, and a price tag doesn't make a product any less brilliant.
Wechrr 3 months ago
@shewolfen1 I stand by my point. Is it "thinking different" to buy an item that has sold over 4 million times in 3 days? No. Your arguments are invalid.
Diepvries11 3 months ago
@Diepvries11 You don't have to think differently to spot a good product. What type of retard logic is that?
DockterWho 3 months ago
@DockterWho Yes, i bought a galaxy s II for half the money of an iphone. Apperently thinking logically is thinking different in this world. People would buy crap if it had an apple logo on it.
Diepvries11 3 months ago
@Diepvries1 So, if we buy something cheaper, we are thinking logically? And if we think differently, we wouldn't buy a popular product that 4 million other people have purchased?
Basically, I think you are just trying to justify the fact that you didn't have enough money for an iPhone and are trying to bash others that have one.
Troll...
DockterWho 3 months ago
@DockterWho This is the exact non logical apple thinking. Something that is cheaper cannot be as good as an apple. You're right. It's better for less money. That to me is logic. Saying i dont have enough money for an iphone/mac is also the best argument apple come up with. Its not an argument because its not true. Coming from an alienware laptop that would blow any macbook away.
Diepvries11 3 months ago
