"Crumb coat" is sort of neologism to me. I'm totally fine with "masking." If the term did really matter then its definition should be available in Wikipedia, yet it doesn't. (Don't attempt to build one yourself or I will nominate for deletion due to lack of reliable source.)

It is a very thick, slightly tangy (but not aged) white cheese that comes in a solid rectangle shape. A good substitute would be neufchatel (not sure of spelling) if you live in a frenchspeaking country or mascarpone in italy.
Just look up Cream Cheese frosting online. It's very easy. It's basically, 8 oz or 2 8oz of cream cheese, 1 stick of butter and 1 box of powdered sugar, pinch of salt and mix them together. You can also add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Yum!
I´m not very good at baking etc., but I love watching the videos, and I have to say that´s the fastest and smoothest I´ve seen and also with the best result :)
