  • such an inspiration :)

  • @2:40 I LOVE THAT natural STYLE

  • Thank you so much for putting up this video! Your hair looks beautiful relaxer free!!!

  • Casey, you are someone the Afro community, and the world, ought to be proud of. For someone who has curtain straight hair that looks limp, and has always wished her hair had more bounce and volume, I feel ashamed for being a part of this cycle of self hatred. I promise to be proud of my straight, silky hair, just like you're proud of your curls-that-have-a-mind-of-their-own.

One suggestion - try pure coconut oil (No Indian home is complete without one! :P)

  • Your hair is BEAUTIFUL!

  • great video, and amazing song!

  • OMG I am really trying to go natural without cutting off all of my hair! I didn't know where to start but I think I'm going to get my ends clipped and just keep rods in my head and styles that require no heat! Both relaxed and natural looks good on you! Thanks!.

  • @MinahsAmbitions What do you mean by "rods"?

  • u go MOMMA!!! i love it!!! fantastic vid EXCELLENT JOINT!!!! i love this song!! i also wear my hair natural!!!!*)

  • OMG I feel like my hair isn't growing either but my hairdresser keeps telling me I have to cut it. In stead of flat ironing it I think I'm going to do more roller wraps. my hair is pretty soft and thin and my cousin went natural, it doesn't look good. Maybe she just needs a few more months, so perns will still be done for me. Hopefully it will grow...

  • i agree my hair is better now i decided to go natural stay true to who u are

  • Great vid and love your hair!

  • @JBoogy92 so do i....i hav the same prob

  • Are you mixed???

  • You and your hair are so beautiful, yoou look amazing with your natural hair! Lol, you looked great before too, the natural just brought out the exotic look :). Great video and song. Take care and God Bless.

  • Update video please. beautiful hair. I so dont want to chop my relaxed hair but its rather frustrating with the two hair textures.

  • at 1:17 you look like one of the mowry sisters, from that show "Sisters, Sisters"

    :)

  • do you have a hair tutorial for the last hairstyle u tried i love it

  • This is a beautiful vid! And you are such a pretty lady! :-)

  • Your fro at the end is what I call hardbody! Love it girl. :) I can wait but I'm so excited for my growing hair to get that big! yay you for going natural and making you and your hair happy!

  • Thank you for your video. I've been trying to grow my hair out natural since January of 2010. I have about 3 inches of new growth and I didn't know what to do with it. I've been covering my natural hair with weaves and wigs...I was getting so fed up with it and I had planned on relaxing my hair this weekend. Your video was an inspiration. Needless to say I won't be relaxing my hair this weekend.

  • It's amazing, isn't it, how beautiful all of our hair can be when we take the time and when we finally realize how beautiful it really is. We don't need all of these tools to enhance ourselves. We just need to love us. :)

  • Aw horrible.

    She flat-ironed every week.

before she started her natural hair.

chickies. that will Fluck. Fluck. your hair up.

    Tsktsk. lol.

    but yeah amazing video.

  • What do you use and do to make your hair curly like that

  • @blessedbyfour ..Did you really just ask that?

  • Great video Creole girl!

  • 8 inches in one year? Wow! I only get half of that.

  • lovely hair and song!

  • When i went all natural I never big chopped I just let my perm grow out but I never was a person to relax my hair on a regular basis. I believe it took almost a year and a half to transition. I am now almost a year natural and loving it. Make sure you do lots of research and you will be fine.

  • love your hair..keep going

  • Your hair is beautiful and thanks for taking us with you through your journey. I am at the beginning of the process and am comfortable, but my guy does not like the natural look... (I use half wigs too)...oh well, it is my hair, my journey and I prefer to embrace my natural beauty...thanks for the inspiration to stay "RELAXER FREE"... Stay blessed and beautiful...

  • @scrapfish64 girl if he dont like the NATURAL you, he doesnt like the REAL you that God has made you. Girl dump him and get a guy who appreciates the natural beauty inside of you. If he cant accept natural beauty, its more likely that he's hating on his own race. God Bless My Natural Diva! -Ntrlblacklezbobeauty <3

  • @NtrlBlackLezboBeauty i know thats right, if he dont like natural then thats is like saying he doesnt like his own race, but i bet he would be qiuck to claim he likes white girls and white girls have naturally str8 hair, so whats the diff between a white n blaCk girl being natural? not a single thing

  • permed ends will definately hold u back

  • wow

  • I havent had a perm in 11 weeks. I am going to continue to straighten my hair because... all though I am comfortable with my hair length straight I am not comfortable the length with braids and afroie curly until it grows. I am going to straighten my hair every 2 weeks with a deep condtion and hot oil treatment. Anyone have any tips for me?

  • @rearea718 well jst keep it moisturized is a big thing to remember.

  • Lovely video, beautiful hair. In seeing your other videos, I see that you have already cut in December 2009. I hope you'll continue to post other videos. Keep inspiring women to stay chemical free or choose to explore it. Thanks for posting.

    -Kaeyla

  • @KlaKe09 wow i going through the same thing with my edges as well! i hate it. I've been going natural since april 2nd 2009 but my edges on my right side is having a hard time growing back =(

  • love the natural hair....beautiful!

  • the music set the mood..seriously lol

  • Very beautiful. I grew out my hair in 2002, but went back to a relaxer. I grew it out again in 2004 and I haven't used a relaxer since. I enjoyed your video and loved the hair styles (well try some). I wanted to look the way god made me so, I try to be as natural as possible. Thank for the video, it was truly inspiring!

  • U Made Me Cry At Da End.

Im In The Process Of Goinq

Bck Natural As Well And I Appreciate

U Puttnq Up Dis Video. Thank You So Much!

  • You are far more beautiful with your natural hair. It's something about perms and weave that makes me feel like I'm wearing a mask. I feel so proud and beautiful rocking my natural hair.

  • beautiful!! and yes,if u still have relaxed ends let them go..your hair will grow even faster and be healthier:)

  • Natural looks gorgeous on you! SO much prettier! I'm a white girl with some mad kinky/ curly hair, and I've decided to just let it do what it may. It's sort of twisty-looping- dreading, and I'm tired of fighting it!! EMBRACE!

  • beautiful

    thehairlab(dot)ning(dot)com

  • I have decided to transition as well! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Looks good hun. Go ahead and do away with those ends. They will eventually start to split into your now healthy hair. Concentrate on your makeup until your hair gets to the length you're looking for. The makeup will take away from the messy transition we all grow though. Once you have a full head of curly natural hair that you can do what you want with-you'll be good.

  • same thing happened to me so I left my hair alone and four years later hair to the middle of my back

  • @ 1:35 were you still transitioning? If so, how did you get those pretty curls. I'm in my 5th month of transitioning and really love that style :-)

  • This is a very nice well put together video.

  • very inspirational. I love it. Thanks for posting.

  • OMG! This story is exactly what happened to my hair thanks to the flat irons. Great video!

  • NIce song

  • U WINNN :D ur transition video is da best ive seen so far. thanx for tha inspiration :DDD

  • omg the song distracted me, what a beautiful song and you are beautiful too....

  • this was a really nice video...its so nice to see more and more people embracing their natural hair, and still feeling beautiful.

  • you've done so well. congrats on all that growth!

  • Hey Casey...I love your video and the music you choose to go with it was great too! Im natural as well and love it, and want you too see my page titled "khelliwho" where i demonstrate what a Brazilian Keratin (protein treatment) "Chocolate Defrizzing" can !do for your hair. Its not a chemical, but protein and great for rebuilding damaged hair...while keeping it silky, shiny and frizz free! Hope you like it....i just put it on "You Tube".

  • EXCELLENT video! Thank you so much for sharing, I can relate to every last phase!!!

  • im natural also and my hair grew quicker than it did when i had a perm. i se my own mixture of natural oils and it comes out as striaght as it does with a chemical perm.

  • Great Video and awesome hair growth..Congrats!!!

  • Love it.

  • thank you, I will continue what I have started. I cut my hair off in Oct 2009 and I want to see it naturally long like yesterday years and I feel stuck. But, after watching this I will continue on my path.

  • beautiful video!

  • Love it!! Thanks for sharing!!

  • this is a lovely vid!

  • Hi Casey. Your hair is beautiful!

  • You should just cut your ends.LET THAT HAIR BE FREE GIRL!!!

  • Hi girly! My hair texture is very similar to yours. I used to have soft curls, and now they are gone due to relaxing, and my hair stop growing. I cannot pull of a boy cut, and I want to go natural just like you did.

However, I heard that it's very damaging to have natural roots, and relaxed ends.. is it true?

  • god ur beautiful

  • Casey, this was awesome thanks for making it so enjoyable to view and thanks for sharing. This will help me so much on my natural journey

  • This is so encouraging. Thank you.

  • beautiful......

  • i can totally relate to the whole why isnt it growing ordeal i had the same length of hair for about 5 years due to heat damage although at some points it looked like it would get a lil longer but then by the next touch up i lost that growth everytime

  • hey...what kind of hair products do you use? i use motions right now, but i dont think its gonna work well on natural hair..and did u get sew-ins during your transition?

  • omg this video was great. My hair was also thinning and became damaged, n I have been learning to take better care of it. Please keep the videos on how to continue to care for your hair, love to see them

  • waw you and your hair are pretty : )

Im in a natural hair journey too !!

  • The song is called Pearls by India Arie. It is a remake of Pearls by Sade. Thank you everyone for your kind words :)

  • Love your video! Thank you for posting it!

  • I am soooo glad that I'm natural now! My hair's still recovering from glue in weaves, but it's lookin' real good now. I'm never doing that again! No relaXers either!

  • What's the name of this song???????

  • you're really pretty and i like your hair.

are you on any hair care forums?

  • Your hair is beautiful. What a journey and it looks like it was more than worth it.

  • I did my BIG CHOP (I had a TWA) AUGUST 2008 too! I Am still hanging in there! I have some growth.

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG AND VIDEO!!! I'M STARTING THE JOURNEY AND I AM SO EXCITED..I KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE SOME OBSTACLES BUT HEY...I'M READY!! LOVE IT ;-p

  • If you haven't cut it yet, I suggest you go ahead and cut off those relaxed ends. Set yourself free sista! Then you can learn how to really take care of your hair. You will grow that 4 inches back sooo fast! Good luck.

  • im 5 months into transition. its hard to not give in but im DETERMINED.

  • Go Girl! It's a given you can do it!^_^ You have the right attitude about it so you'll win

  • 3:30 is absolutely beautiful. Great job

  • lovely video. and yes sadly the relaxed/heat damaged will have to go, you will be so happy and amazed at how fast your length returns once your ends are free and healthy. I must really really really congratulate you on being natural/transitioning for such a long time. It must be a great feeling. Keep us updated. Peace & Blessings, Dani.

  • I love it.....its beautiful.....I wish I started a long time ago....oh wells can't wait until I get it to my shoulders unstretched

  • Great Vid Casey....

  • Wonderful growth and beautiful hair

what song is that, if i may ask?

    :) TIA

  • Pearls--India.Arie

  • wow, you're really pretty with your straight hair and natural curls :D

I feel like you should cut your ends off. Your hair has good length so I dont see why you shouldkeep them. I always hated my relaxed ends when I transitioned b/c I felt I was wasting good, organic product on them but do whatever is right for you. :D

btw, I LOVE THE MAKE-UP!! I'm an eyeshadow freak now b/c my face shows more. ;D

  • I am doing the same thing! The last time I relaxed my hair was 2-17-08!!! I have naturally curly hair and just never knew what to do with it... so I begged my German and Indian mother to relax it for me! She did, and the rest is history. I have had long relaxed hair to my mid back, I have had waist length relaxed hair and I have had BADLY damage relaxed hair!! My hair is very fine but grows fast, yet Hates chemicals. SO, after a bad reaction to a relaxer/hard water situation, I stopped.

  • Im so jealous ! good job on on your journey video ! Im on my 4th month of transitioning and cant wait until all my relaxed ends are off !

  • wow girl!!!

    your hair is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I can't wait until you BC!

  • very inspiring.

  • thank you :)

  • wow what a transition even from your early days of relaxing! your natural hair is beautiful, I love it

  • Thank you. I wish I would've went natural years ago. My mom said my hair was unmanageable by the time i turned 10, and she didn't like detangling the curls so she permed my hair for better manageability :( I just went with the flow until now. I'm trying to get her to go natural..but she refuses..she utterly HATES curly hair..idk why?!

  • my mom said the exact same thing, I even said it in my first video, she said by 10 my hair "went crazy" so she permed it, and she feels the same way about her hair, she'll never go natural, but her hair is so damaged and so short, so she just wears hair pieces smh

  • That's funny that we have that in common..what is it about age 10? My mom's hair is really damaged too..it really doesn't "take in" perms well either which she despises when she works out, it's gets back curly again. I wish my hair was like that.lol.She flat irons it every two days to get the curls out temporarily. After my mom's last hair cut about 3yrs ago, it stopped growing. What's weird is that I was the only kid in my family to get a relaxer..i thought my hair went bad until i went natural.

  • GIrl i'm trying to get my mother to do the sae thing! She saw me do it and she said i have a whole new respect for you! lolz.. she said she would try since what she thought about natural hair isn't really true since she's seen mine. She put braids in her hair and started talking big junk about how she is transitioning and when she took them braids OUT she was like oh hell no. But she has not put in a perm yet but she threatens to every chance she gets. But i'm going 2 put it back n braids 4 her!

  • wow thats quite a bit of growth!

  • yes, i agree. i was quite shocked as you could imagine. It use to take a whole year to grow just 2 inches. I'm guessing that it was because of all the chemicals that I was using. It stunned my growth process.

  • @casey777c I totally agree!!! I am almost three months natural and i see a big difference with leaving the chemical alone. Hair grows faster. ur inspirational girlie!!! Lol
