Americans think that ARSE is the English pronunciation of ASS in the same way that LAUGH is pronounced LARF in the South. They don't grasp that it's a seperate word spelt ARSE. No English person would pronounce ASS as ARSE when talking about the donkey-type animal!

@BelizeansRpretty That's kinda just Merton's style - he likes to pretend to be pissed off a lot. Given his previous interactions with Hunter, I'd actually say he really likes him. Not many people can make Merton laugh like Hunter can. Great comedians, the both of them.

@BelizeansRpretty No that's Paul Merton one of the regular panelists on Have I Got News For You and that's just his normal mannerisms. Him and Reginald D are regularly paired up on the show and they make a great comedy team.
In real life Paul Merton is actually extremely laid back and like most comedians is not at all effusive outside of the act, they presumably get fed up of the goofing around when they're doing it for a living and enjoy the laid-back time off!
Incidentally my sister did the invitation cards for Paul Merton's wedding, she was only 16 or so as well.
