@eigenlambda Thanks. You want a kill 'em all speed run of AOTCR? I've actually got some footage of a decent run, but I was planning to try and go a few minutes faster. I'm definitely thinking of posting further speed runs though, so "watch this space" as they say.
@BadCyborgMovies I just ran through T&R again... I used to always use plasma rifle, but with this video you've convinced me that with quick finger the sheer volume of fire from a plasma pistol makes it the right choice... not only does it take down Elite shields quickly, it intimidates Jackals into changing their position and losing their shield cover
@eigenlambda Plus, the plasma pistol is great for doing melee when you get close. To begin with I thought you were hitting with it, but eventually I realized that it gets transferred to your left hand and you hit with a fist. It's pretty fast, so it took a while to notice. Anyway, I love that crisp right hook. *SMACK*
@BadCyborgMovies yeah, the melee is the best part. also, the human pistol has a sweet melee, you flip it over in your hand, hit someone with the butt, then flip it over in your hand again. i spent hours trying to do that with sticks. and the rocket launcher: like, you swing it over your head at the guy and then you need to adjust it. i do that with baguettes :D
@eigenlambda I'm glad you brought up the lesser-known technique of attacking with baguettes. To be honest I find baguettes a fairly poor choice against Elites, unless they're baked extra crusty and ideally with a steel pipe hidden up the middle. But they can certainly be good for poking Grunts in the eye. Those little guys *hate* it when I attack with bakery products.
@eg0u5078 It got somewhat shunted aside as I wasn't satisfied with it, and many other things have taken up my time since then. I'll try and do a better run, and maybe I can finally get a speedrun playlist started.
@randomnessjunk That reminded you of Normal? Blimey, what kind of freaky mean Halo disc did you pick up? Been a while since I played on Normal, but at one point I'm pretty sure the Elites asked me over for cream buns and a cup of tea, they were that gentle. :P
Ummmm....okay, I'll be the first one to ask it: The open doors you went through at 0:35 are usually closed, and there's usually the first Elite in the game seen in the game standing there when they open. (To my knowledge, the only Invincible Elite in the game). There are (usually) two Invincible Marines chasing the Elite.
@ChosunOne302 Simple. You don't *get* that Elite on Legendary, or even Heroic. You do still get a heck of a lot of blood on the floor though. I actually mentioned that Elite in the talk-through of the level posted last week, and there's even a picture of him growling. Nice fella. I guess he was Bungie's way of introducing you to the Covenant, and they figured that on Legendary no introduction was needed any more.
@BadCyborgMovies and @RedAce93 Actually, I've played that level in Legendary several times, but that was a loooong time ago. I didn't go through PoA that many times--not a lot of interest there compared to other levels. The one trick I played with was trapping that Elite in the corridor with the two Marines, then watching them blast away at each other indefinitely. That's what I remember doing last in that level and I forgot I had to be in Normal to do it. Like I said, long time ago.
@ChosunOne302 I did suspect it was just a case of memory. I find POA a great blast but I wish it had gone on longer and included some larger areas for variety. Also I wish we could've had access to the shotgun and needler. Come to think of it, I wouldn't say no to a rocket launcher either! Even if it *is* going to damage the paintwork.
@RedAce93 Thanks. Actually I wasn't too concerned in the stairway part. I was disappointed with myself for getting whacked (I was a bit too focused on getting clear of the grenade), but I didn't feel I was about to die. Glad I got a tag on one of the reinforcement Elites though!
beautiful.
post the aotcr all-kill?

@ChosunOne302 thats what I figured, and having the marines and elite fire at each other forever was fun too

very nice, just at some points like the stairway part, it looked like you were dead for sure but your dodging was truly amazing very well done.
