  • Great job-this really speaks volumes and the music sets the mood-things really are THIS bad.

  • Great video on FL education-so inspiring. Thanks guys and keep up the awesome work.

  • I'm not sure just yet of when it will be, but we're starting to gather materials and whatnot, and I assume it's going to be at my school, Ocoee High School. It would be great if you are able to come! My principal has been telling everyone about your video when anyone asks what can be done about the cuts. (For some reason the idea didn't strike him until sometime this week). Again, thank you for everything :).

    xoxo

  • My principal is planning on doing a school-wide "funeral for education," based on your video. Thank you for spreading the word and for the inspiration.

    xoxo

  • this is horrible we really need to do something about all the budget cuts, all of our kids dreams are being destroyed!!

  • I am tired of our schools being cut so that northerners, who have two homes, do not have to pay more taxes. The Republicans do not care about anyone but themselves. As long as they are beholden to the special interests groups, those who advocate school vouchers, and the snowbirds, Florida will continue to suffer a decline in education. As long as Floridans continue to elect these uncaring idiots we can expect more of the same.

  • this video was really good! and i went to one of the protests they had last night!

  • Thanks ! We're really glad that you came to the rally and hope that you come to more in the future.

  • Well done!

  • Sad reality of FL State

  • the are building 4 more prisons in Florida though!!!! The still have money to lock up crack heads!!!

  • I am a high school teacher at a leadership magnet school and I thought this video was well-done.

These cuts have made going to work a tense affair. Teachers whisper in the halls every time a cut comes down. We lost our assistant principal the week before Christmas vacation-- what a lovely time to do that, don't you think?

We, as a nation, say that children are our future. Well, we sure don't treat them like it. Our future does not just consist of bankers but also artists, musicians, etc.

  • It is a shame that now children need to defend their education. The State of Florida is robbing the children of not only their education but of their right to be children. Why should our children be placed in a situation of worry, when they will have all their adult lives to worry.

  • This is insane, we have to do something about this!

    POWER TO THE CHILDREN!!!!!

I like how the Have You Seen In Your Dreams video is in the Related Videos.

  • This is so surreal...that parents feel they need to move towards such desperate measures!

Don't get me wrong. As an 11th grade art student enrolled in a Dade high school, I completely agree with your message. But the video is just ridiculous.

What I think really needs to happen..is for STUDENTS to begin protesting. what force parents and teachers have to sway educational policy is, in my mind, little compared to students. It is OUR future at stake after all.

  • Are palm trees a higher priority than children? That seems to be the message as millions of dollars are wasted in the Fontainebleau area on landscape while at the same time the city claims to have no money for education. The pretty trees are not enough to hide the smell of something rotten...

  • I agree, If Magnet is removed many kids will not look forward to going to school. Our kids enjoy Magnet not only is it fun but it also gives them a reason to keep up there grades due to the fact that it is a requirement to stay enrolled in these programs, and in al honesty I believe that without it many of our kids grades drop.

  • hundreds of teachers are losing their jobs, thousands of kids are losing their passion, talent, and most importantly, their futures!!! every voice counts. don't just sit there and let Florida's children suffer. We're already last out of the 50 states in funding, don't let our legislators put us in last for the arts! save our generation!!

  • schools are meant for learning! and we obviously need schools to have money so that we can LEARN. how would we be able to afford textbooks?

and about cuts affecting magnet programs?! my school is BASED on magnet programs, and we need to maintain them well because that's the reason why many kids actually ENJOY learning.

SCHOLARSHIPS ARE NEEDED. we dont all have the money to go to college, and most of us really want to.

  • The fine arts have been around for a long time and just because the economy is doing bad doesn't mean that we have to suffer from it!! I've been in chorus since the 3rd grade and music has always been a BIG part of my life...what about the children of the future? have you stopped to think about them? they won't have a great opportunity to be in the Fine Arts and see the beauty of the world through music, drama, visual arts, and so forth.

  • Yeah, let's give money to prisons and take away from our children!

Well, if we don't provide quality of Education to our Florida Children, they will probably end up in prison anyway!

Makes sesnse, doesn't it Gov Crist!!??????????????????????????????????

Petition to Stop the Education Budget Cuts!

  • How is it possible that we are willing to cut the dreams and goals of our youth and we are not willing to cut the things in the budget that really are worthless? We are suppose to live in the land of opportunity, what are we planning for our young ones?

  • There are so many studies out there showing that inovolment in the arts (music, art, drama) improve educational outcomes for all children. Children with at least 3 years of instrumental music instruction score significantly higher on standardized tests than those who don't. Most of all, kids involved in the arts HAVE FUN learning and want to come to school. Too bad the Florida legislature wants to ignore these studies and would rather pay for jails. Where's the bailout for our kids?

  • Ugh. There goes IB from my school. I may need to transfer senior year because of this.

  • This state looks at their stats....and say heh we are number 10 in education. But then how can this be a world class education system....without programs like the Fine Arts. Get REAL Florida. We are just making people with families leave Florida faster

  • of a future**

  • Wow, just when i thought things couldn't get worst. Music has definitely kept me going, and seeing it gone is a nightmare or a future that I wouldn't want to see become a reality.

  • Everyone should be outraged by any cuts to education. Bravo on the video.

  • Please save the Dreams of our kids, these programs are very important to them. I have a daughter that was in the Music Magnet, & a son in the Drama Magnet at Perrine Elementary, and both my kids loved to go to school because of it. It's unbelievable that this state would cut from our kids education. Cut the budget elsewhere not our schools. If the state would be more concern w/ creating great schools, we would have more people wanting to live in Florida, which would means more money to Florida.
