Dave Winfield was the best NY Yankee of the 1980"s. He is the only one that played a significant amount of years with the Yankees in the 80's and made the Hall of Fame on his first year of eligibility. The Yankees should retire his #31. Can anyone argue with?
I can't argue that Winfield was a great player. But Mattingly was the leader of the team, hands down. Winfield wasn't a "true Yankee". Mattingly had WAY more tenacity and grit than Winfield brought every day. Kudos to both though. Great players.
The cards at the beginning are from the Topps 1985 set and the graphic says 1983. At that time I was 12 years old and bought wax and rack packs in great quantity with help from my parents. It is still a great set.
......makes you wish it was still 1986. You know, sometimes I just kind of forget what year we are in and date all my checks for 1986. It's just too hard to accept reality.
ive got all thew 89s but dallas green, tommy john dave righetti, roberto kelly, bobby meachem, rick rhoden, dave eiland, hudson, shields, pena, ward, santanea, and candelaria
a player gave me a lot of the first set of cards on the clip and other of the yankees when i just started to play baseball in 87...since i'm still a Yanks fan...i hope i can go to yankee stadium to see them play...
If you want to see the current stadium you need to go in the next year because they are building a new stadium next door. It is a wonderful experience to see a game at Yankee Stadium even if you aren't a Yankee fan.
Great montage of cards, but what's up with the horror movie music?? :-O

@devildog2002 it will never happen given the problems between him and steinbrenner and the fact he went into the hall as a padre
