They might be redacted, which would make it hard to prove, but it's one option. Journalists usually confirm these kinds of things by triangulating from other sources.

But beyond the trivial cost my own activities have cost them, I feel I cannot donate so that others may have access untill I see some evidence that they will and have used the money for purposes I wish to support.
