@heyred08 The new 5L v8 in the ford is a good engine but there are not as may things you can do to it compared with the 6.2. The 6.2L in the Holden is a more reliable and strong engine that with the equivalent supercharger mods with put out at least and extra 60-70kw over the fords engine.

@ozpridexXkidxX They don't use the alloytech anymore after the introduction of the sidi. I've never seen a mildly modded XR6 turbo with more than 300rwkw... You don't have to spend much to twin turbo or supercharger a 6L, Spend 6-8k and you'll be making 350rwkw, spend 10-14k and you'll be pushing anywhere from 400-500rwkw. Just look at sonnymad's videos.
Respond to this video... Ford don't use all there own engines either... e.g the latest Territory uses the tdi engine out of a Landrover. Holden designs there V6's and gives them to america and Europe and in return they use the American designed V8's. Also if you twin turbo the Holden's V8 it'll push out 400rwkw easily!

@paradigmmaker Supercharging is cheaper fuckhead, and turboing put's less strain on the engine. It's heaps more efficent to use exhaust gasses, than it is to use a belt system thus using engine power before the supercharger comes on boost. All smart manufacturers are going turbo - all the new Mercs and Beemers (AMG and M class) are all turboed for 2012. Forced induction is the way forward both stock and future tuninability. Ford have years of turbo R&D now + the blown 5l Coyote also - Holden best get with the programme as NA pushrod V8's are on the way out everywhere bar the USA and their car industry is the unhealthiest of any nation.

so we ripped apart the motors to see anything different and yes there was, pritty much a big one difference,
ford has put in money to build a motor that can handle it and holden hasnt at all thats why they only do a supercharger because its fits there block, you can do after market turbo and it can handle, 17 psi max before to blow the motor,but think about it turbo is added so add a supercharger then its a match..

holden needs to learn to start making more torqueier engines instead of more powerful engines, in the real world more torque is better, which is pretty much the only reason ford is quicker, correct me if im wrong but the weight of say xr6-sv6 is virtually the same, same with the 8's.
i own and xr6t.but i gotta say the gap in this match up is most probably due to the xr6t being auto and the SS having slower shit times....but i do love the xr6t...simple reasonably cheap mods seem to net more power than on the V8's

The turbo here is faster, but that's a stock, heavier car. Get a VY or newer to go against it with similiar power mods, the SS will take the Turbo downtown. And Fords new Cougar and GT-HO, face it, has too much hype. Ford and Holden will never seperate power wise, they will always be one upping each other. At the moment, it's Holden winning, but soon the tables will turn. But anyway, both lovely cars.

Haha I have a 2006 BF XR6 6 speed auto with full exhaust,CAI,20% underdrives and custom tune and I beat BF GT's 6 speed autos let alone VE SS V8's. I raced my mate in his GT and his mate in a VE SS and killed the SS and kept pulling away and beat my mates GT by about a cars length. Ford I6 along with the ZF auto = weapon with good fuel econemy

But guys power means nothing. Its all about the torque. 25kw isn't a big difference. End of the day that is only at the flywheel anyway. Its all in the torque. And most turbo's will have good torque at low and high range rpms.
That's right, 450Nm of torque will beat 550Nm of torque if that torque is flat across 90% of the rev range, Just like a turbo. The others might have larger torque, But they both deliver them in very different ways. It's why turbo diesels move so well with low power.
i now drive a xr6-turbo! I used to have a 215fwkw mitsubishi cordia with an evo engine!..I think it would have bet my 310rwkw xr6-turbo lol But It had nothing below 110kmh except wheelspin and torque steer,Check my vid's if your interested in seeing it. 150fwkw is pretty meaty! @heyred08 The new 5L v8 in the ford is a good engine but there are not as may things you can do to it compared with the 6.2. The 6.2L in the Holden is a more reliable and strong engine that with the equivalent supercharger mods with put out at least and extra 60-70kw over the fords engine.

@ozpridexXkidxX They don't use the alloytech anymore after the introduction of the sidi. I've never seen a mildly modded XR6 turbo with more than 300rwkw... You don't have to spend much to twin turbo or supercharger a 6L, Spend 6-8k and you'll be making 350rwkw, spend 10-14k and you'll be pushing anywhere from 400-500rwkw. Just look at sonnymad's videos.

It's heaps more efficent to use exhaust gasses, than it is to use a belt system thus using engine power before the supercharger comes on boost. All smart manufacturers are going turbo - all the new Mercs and Beemers (AMG and M class) are all turboed for 2012. Forced induction is the way forward both stock and future tuninability. Ford have years of turbo R&D now + the blown 5l Coyote also - Holden best get with the programme as NA pushrod V8's are on the way out everywhere bar the USA and their car industry is the unhealthiest of any nation.

so we ripped apart the motors to see anything different and yes there was, pritty much a big one difference,
ford has put in money to build a motor that can handle it and holden hasnt at all thats why they only do a supercharger because its fits there block, you can do after market turbo and it can handle, 17 psi max before to blow the motor,but think about it turbo is added so add a supercharger then its a match..

The 6.2 lt far more refined, efficient and keeps up with a xr6t with no work. You cant do any more work to the xr6t without serious overhaul, it's true and you know it. The turbo here is faster, but that's a stock, heavier car. Get a VY or newer to go against it with similiar power mods, the SS will take the Turbo downtown. And Fords new Cougar and GT-HO, face it, has too much hype. Ford and Holden will never seperate power wise, they will always be one upping each other. Haha I have a 2006 BF XR6 6 speed auto with full exhaust,CAI,20% underdrives and custom tune and I beat BF GT's 6 speed autos let alone VE SS V8's. I raced my mate in his GT and his mate in a VE SS and killed the SS and kept pulling away and beat my mates GT by about a cars length. Ford I6 along with the ZF auto = weapon with good fuel econemy

@wansa82 the ss would need a blower to get away from the turbo 6 lol. Spend the same money in the turbo as you would with a blower on an ss n see what it turns out like lol

flyinpencil hate to break it to ya but the XRT brand new is around 40k,,,brand new v8 commo is like 58-60k...if your spent the extra 18k on the ford there wont be a single car that will touch it....to say whack a blower on the commo will make it win blah! your deluded ford is faster cheaper and stronger...my mate is pumping 18 psi thru a stock AU xr6 motor and its still standing strong holdens are trash man expensive non cost effective trash

@daggothar hang on do you think i like holdens?? lol. My old mans got an XR6Turbo n an 82 XE ESP Fairmont Ghia. What it meant to sound like is that u need to to alot more work to an ss to get the same result as a lightly modded XR6Turbo

mate paid 10k for the full turbo kit plus 3k for it to be installed here in WA..hes down to 15 psi now lol he over loaded his clutch and snapped the clutch pin and firewall....but man that car moves

Guys i am a ford fan probably bigger than anyone, planning on getting an F6 and running around in a 150fwkw ford laser :)
But guys power means nothing. Its all about the torque. 25kw isn't a big difference. End of the day that is only at the flywheel anyway. Its all in the torque. And most turbo's will have good torque at low and high range rpms.

That's right, 450Nm of torque will beat 550Nm of torque if that torque is flat across 90% of the rev range, Just like a turbo. The others might have larger torque, But they both deliver them in very different ways. It's why turbo diesels move so well with low power.

i now drive a xr6-turbo! I used to have a 215fwkw mitsubishi cordia with an evo engine!..I think it would have bet my 310rwkw xr6-turbo lol But It had nothing below 110kmh except wheelspin and torque steer,Check my vid's if your interested in seeing it. 150fwkw is pretty meaty! (i dont reccomend much more than that in a frontwheel drive!)...
