Love the inclusion of the Port wine and orange juice. My girlfriend and I just made a Cranberry sauce video this past Thanksgiving 2011. Would love to feature it alongside yours ;-)
Thanks! I also wanted to share with you 1 of the best cook books I have ever owned. Check it out... bit*ly/rsgo5P youtube won't let me put up links, so just change the * to .
Made this last year while it tasted great for Thanksgiving, however it was a little too much Port and it was quite intense. Good for a small amount once or twice but I got tired of it after a week or so. Next time I'm going to reduce the amount of Port by half the amount they've added here. Use 100 percent cranberry juice to make up the missing amount.
O M G !!! I have to stop tasting this , otherwise there will not be any left for tomorrow's Thanks Giving Day hahah - it truly is so great tasting !! I bet this recipe will be a 5 star for dinner tomorrow - thank YOU soo soo much !! :)
I'm making it right now exept I don't use port cuz I'm 14.... i just put in the cranberries and sugar and a bit of orange peel... omg it smells sooooo good
i actually made this in the slow cooker 2 hrs on high while I prepared other dishes. First using the Port Wine and OJ ... very good and definitely a keeper!
I made this for the last two Thanksgiving dinners. It is wonderful and I am very grateful for having found this on youtube.com. It is so delicious and everybody loved it. I could never stand canned cranberry sauce. But after making this I enjoy having it whenever I can. THANK YOU!
I was thinking the same thing as yall! adding wine. only I was thinkin of using black berry wine from sparks has a good berry flavor give it a berry kick. don't think i can afford it though but maybe.... and i'mpureeing the cranberries n using dried cranberries for chunkyness. brown sugar huh? didn't think of that one but i'll deffinetly try it. thanks for posting.

Like this recipe. I actually used cherry brandy and some ground cloves in my sauce. the smells in the kitchen were amazing. Flavor wise? For my first sauce? Was terrific.
I just love apple sauce you did a really good job there!! how many apples and frogs teeth do you recommend to put in when my mother come's round for tea?
This is going to be a dumb question, but Im an Irish exchange student in america, and this is my first ever thanksgiving with friends, and my job is to bring the cranberry sauce,
Ive never eaten, let alone prepared cranberry sauce, obviously im going to be using canned sauce. But im just wondering does it need to be heatedor served cold? And if so, how heated does it have to be?
I'm Irish too, but living here 20 years. You just have to warm it up, probably better to do it when you get there (in the microwave even, no dirty pots). But why don't you buy a bag of cranberries in the supermarket and follow the recipe on the packet? You just boil them with sugar and water. Much better than the canned/bottled. And I don't know if your hosts will appreciate bottled cranberry sauce, that's the reason you were asked to bring it! Something home made. Have fun.
I use dried crannberiies to ha ha. and White sugar ha ha along with brown sugar and I stur in my lemon and I swear its the best youll ever have. I dont like putting Alcohol in with my fruit. Just saying.

Hi, Port is like a stronger and sweeter version of red wine. You do not need it to make the cranberry sauce, just add a little more o.j. Cheers, Katie
it turned out soo good! Thanks I pulled it off at the last minute of Thanksgiving I didn't use orange juice or port- but it still turned out delicious!
When I made cranberry sauce, I used a cup of orange juice mixed with apple cider. But when it was done cooking, I had to squeeze it through a strainer to get rid of the skin and seeds.

Hi mattrmc19, Thanks for watching The alcohol does burn off but you are left with incredible flavor, so it is acceptable for both kids and adults. Happy Holidays! Katie
If you want to leave the alcohol in, just add it in after it gels and it cools off to room temperature or less. If you want to add anything extra, you can use any of lemon zest, slivered almonds, nutmeg, cinnamon, rosemary, thyme, ginger or cloves. Experiment! If you want to be bold, add hot chile powder. Or add some other fruits and make a chutney!
It turned out absolutely delicious! I used sherry instead of port, but the rest were as you called out. I hope Antonio doesn't mind that this recipe becomes our 'new' family tradition. Thanks again... it's just what I needed!
Hi alisssnow, you are welcome, great substitution idea! I am sure that Antonio will be happy to have you call it your 'new' family tradition! Cheers, Katie
well tyannam if you put like 4 cups of alcohol in a recepy thats only like 2 grames i dont think you would need to but if you do i would recomend not to give it to your children

Looked more like a compote or marmalade, maybe almost a pure, but very thick to be a sauce!

I will have to try orange juice and port in my cranberry sauce. True cranberry sauce -not from a can- is sooooooo!!! much better. Those two additions will be great!!
