Tom, I am pretty certain that what you interpret as a injection mold sink mark on the General Lee, is actually where the fuel cap goes on a 1969 Dodge Charger.
@ModelManTom Since this kit is like 25+ years old, there was no such thing as recessed lines back then. Should be a Chrome Fuel cover on the chrome tree to go in that circle. Likely won't see it once it is installed.

You do need to sand off that circle but remember the location as that's where the fuel cap goes.
