Put the low profile tires on the X, instead of the balloon tires and it would power slide all day along with the R. Got old, sold them both, I'll never stop hating myself for that lol
I had a 1978 ATC 110 with a overbore 90 piston (maybe 2 extra hp). it would go 40-45 mph. i was 9 years old...1982 when i had it. Then when i was 11, they got me a 1983 250R not knowing how insane it was....i got clocked at 86 mph on it and arrested. They sold it after they had to pay 1200 bucks for me going down the highway on it and i was stuck with the old 110. That 250 was insane.
Grew up riding a 185 and 200x. those where some of the best days of my childhood! First time I rode a friends 250R, tried a wheelie and it flipped up over on me... talk about power... to much for me at 14...

Torque was rediculous and could pulled the front wheel in 6th with no problem....with a cam bigger carb and a free flowing exhaust it would spank the 250r. Would like to have had the 350x motor in the 250r chassis though. 200x was really just good for wheelies...no power what so ever.....but could wheely that thing for days! :)

As a kid (12-13yo) I had a new '83 Honda ATC200. I had immeasurable fun on it, but I so very badly wanted a 250R. It is IMO 1 of the most beautiful looking ATC/V's ever created. I would frequent the Honda dealer to sit on 1 & drool, get pamphlets, posters, magazines, etc. In retrospect, being so young & inexperienced I probably would'a got hurt, plus the 250R required more maintenance. To this day it has a place in my heart.
I got a 200X running this summer. sat in a shed for 15 year. so much varnish in the carb the float SANK!. also needed new rear pads and a caliper rebuild but runs good. This is my first year riding one and i may never go back to riding quads.
have an 86 or 87 200x. thing still runns GREAT. needs a carb kit though and a new front tire. only 2nd set of rears EVER! these things run like champs. and ive almost rode a 250r. until my cousin destroyed the forks running threw a bush!

@motosicness some tecate 3 riders would argue to that. out of the box the tecate pulled better on hill shooting. not saying the tecate is a better all around atc.

I had the 110cc ATC as a kid, best experience ever..then a 185S and that one I grew out of it till about 15 years of age bought a Suzuki 230LT quad..Rode that hard and sold it and finally 15 years later bought my first 250 R TRX and love it..Go Honda!!

How i love the ol' 250r vs 350x debate! Love my 350x, tho i have had many different results racing 250rs. the key to beatn the 250r is changing the gearing on the 350x. its got the torque to pull with higher gears. Bam, smoking 250rs (stock of course) by 4 bike lengths

I just got my Honda 1983 185s running again a couple days ago. (after sitting out in the weather for 14 years...)
Within 1 hour of riding it was caked with mud, with weeds hanging from the frame, and our yard has mud-holes in it.

I had the 110cc ATC as a kid, best experience ever..then a 185S and that one I grew out of it till about 15 years of age bought a Suzuki 230LT quad..Rode that hard and sold it and finally 15 years later bought my first 250 R TRX and love it..Go Honda!!

@gggppww I didn't grow up in this era, but close to it. And I love three-wheelers, since they handle better, lighter and can cross stuff that I wouldn't dare cross with a a 4-wheeler.

I dont know why people hate on the ATC's I started off with the 200x as well and it was such a great ride for 3years before I got the 86 250R Fatboy. Sold alonggg time ago and now im on the hunt for another 250R the banshee is cool but nothing like an ATC.

I have a 250sx and the rear fender is bent out where it fits against the gas tank on the left side.I would appreciate any advice and will make a video if needed. Thanks.

How i love the ol' 250r vs 350x debate! Love my 350x, tho i have had many different results racing 250rs. the key to beatn the 250r is changing the gearing on the 350x. its got the torque to pull with higher gears. Bam, smoking 250rs (stock of course) by 4 bike lengths

@420Greasemonkey oh i think the R is a way better trike then the 350x.the only good x's i have seen have been overly loud and tippy...the R is a better bike to me in all aspects,maintenance,power,handling,and suspension.the 350x has torque on demand but if u ride the power in the 250r you will eat up the 350x!!

@quadGOD12953 my 250 sat in a shed for 6 years... i cleaned out the carb... the varnish in the tank... the airfilter wasnt even there... got it running, took it out and i STILL roasted fuckes... throwing wheelies up sand dunes all day long... the honda 250R was the best bike ever built and now im planning on getting board out to a 350 and adding on
