These are wonderful cubes to have. There is a lot of challenge and fun to get out of them. But V-cube produce another kind of cube which is much more difficult. If you want a different challenge, try one of their flag cubes. Those are much more difficult to solve (6x6x6 with three colours for instance).

It's this mistake which prompted me to buy the cube myself. It's actually very easy to get out of that situation, but the illusion effect makes it difficult to see at first. You can also present it to other people in the shape of a conjuring trick. I think this kind of catching yourself off guard is a good advert.

Actually, I did see a Rubik's 7x7 in a shop window in Paris. But they weren't the first to make one, since they degcreed that it wasn't possible to go further than 5.

Dude, it isn't lube, it's mold release. When the pieces are in the mold, there is a special liquid in it to prevent the plastic from sticking to the mold. Thought you might like to know.

New methods are needed to create anything larger,and these are methods that Rubik's cubes do not employ. I had no idea what a V-cube was or why they were trying to rip off the original. But then I learned more about the mechanisms of higher-order puzzles and non-cubic twisty puzzles and realized that there are just a bunch of different companies with the same basic idea.

If you loom at the V-Cube Wikipedia page, you can see one of them give a diagram of the issue with the edge pieces on higher-order puzzles that don't use pillowing (which, if you didn't know, is the cause of the bulging faces).

i got my v-cubes 6 and 7 at the v-cube website, and they were (of course) WAAAY over-lubed. but my v-cube 5 i got from saras toy store and it wasnt even lubed at all. when i put in the jig a loo, it was better than both the 6x6 and 7x7.

I just got me a v-cube 7, and the lube is curiously absent. My V-cube 5 was swimming in it. But so far my V7 is fairly loose and smooth without unleashing my CRC can on it. I'd love to get me the "limited edition" ones, and I might after I'm done working at camp this summer.
