Right now I wonder if there is a better recording of this piece in existence... even her own pale beside this Wow! It is indeed exciting....sometimes I wish she had just a little more depth in the lower register...but can we have everything?....

She is not a contralto, but I think the low F#'s (or baroque low G's) in this performance are well supported.

Impressive coloratura indeed and yes, the dark colored tone you like so much. She's sounding very close to Horne to my ears.

Yes, the voice reminds of Horne's timbre, but Horne never had such good top notes as Genaux once she went into the mezzo repertoire for good.

@primohomme Yes, you're right : some similarity in the tonal color but Genaux's top is more punchy than Horne's.

She is amazing. I can't believe this is live! I hope she comes to the Netherlands for a concert! Very special voice.
