by far one of my fav mirror matches.... to some people it may seem like spam but omfg the mind games behind this whole match was incredible. Both players fucking god like . Now, if only guile was this good in Super street fighter 4
Could you maybe point out some of them, because i did see a lot of sonic booms xD I wouldn't call it spamming, but any sort of high level mind games passed by me xD
@iraqisarmad either A, you are an ST player and you're just trolling, or B, you are an ssf4 player and really don't know... if B is the case, look at 0:26 and you will see muteki do a standing backfist to trade with kurahashi. after muteki's low forward, most people would follow up with another sonic boom and kurahashi's sonic boom would have negated it. muteki went for the trade and was rewarded with the stun and the round win.
@transition3 at 1:45 you see a different kind of trade. this trade was to create spacing for kurahashi's defensive style. he sees muteki's low roundhouse and uses a low forward to trade, knocking both players apart. he knows that he has the advantage in health and a trade does two things. 1, creates more ground between the two and forces muteki to come to him allowing kurahashi more control over the match. 2, he cuts into muteki's already low health.
@transition3 at 2:42 kurahashi has another opportunity to trade a low forward against muteki's low roundhouse but doesn't because he didn't have the health advantage to trade and since he was backed up in the corner, the trade wouldn't have really given him the comfort zone he preferred anyway.
@transition3 at 1:14 you see kurahashi trade for the knockdown. he follows up with a crossup j.lk. knowing that a throw would kill him, muteki goes for a reversal throw and eats three precisely timed low shorts and loses. later at 2:34 kurahashi gets the same knockdown and goes for the same followup but this time he goes for the throw instead. muteki gets it right this time and gets a reversal throw (which is a single frame vs 7 frames for ssf4).
@transition3 the single frame is out of 30 fps in ST whereas the 7 is out of 60 fps for ssf4. the exact frame differential i'm not sure about since all 60 fps games are not all the same just as all 30 fps games are not all the same. anyway, you do the math and you get the idea. this game is absolute hardcore as far as fighting games go.
Both of these guys other than Watson are the best of the best Guile players imo. This vid shows a clash between two opposing styles, Kurahashi's defensive style vs Muteki's free style and it went down to the wire. Great match!
I know watson has an amazing guile, seen how he spaces but his prime was in the early versions of SFII, super SFII nerfed guile a lot compared to his CPS1 versions. In Super Turbo he is solid mid tier rather than being one of the best characters in the older versions of SFII.
Besides Super Turbo is a different game than CE, hyper fighting.
Champion Edition and Hyper Fighting were made with the CPS1 engine which allows for combos that cannot be done in the CPS2 engine (Super, Super Turbo). Hyper Fighting is more balanced than Champion edition, the game speed is faster and better for it imo. Each SFII version is unique, though the least fun is easily Super Street Fighter II The New Challangers.
Love the flash kick by Muteki at 1:07! Great comeback by Muteki in round 3! Muteki is just a little better in anticipating the next attack. Still, great matchup and play by both players! Usually, Guile vs Guile is a boring sonic boom and down forward matchup, but both players made this matchup exciting!
Yes, it is very hard. I've been trying that combo on Hyper Street Fighter II since Guile is my favorite character. I got out the super one time but the training dummy blocked it since the timing was off.
Half way correct. The rapid jabs cancel some of the recovery of jab and strong sonic booms. I'm assuming that's why it was done here. This mirror match is very much space reliant. So it's better to sonic boom, walk a little bit, downback some rapid jabs and throw another one. Every little inch matters here. Secondly, the rapid fire whiffs is to fake out your opponent to make him guess your next attack. It's very essential when it comes to zoning.
The second part is what matters more, and wiff jab doesn't effect charge timing. It makes it easier to remember when you have enough charge, but it doesn't change the properties of charge.
I play with guile and watching them play each other is inspiring to the soul... they both have different styles of guiles but they are both godly with guile.
Muteki backhanded Kurahashi while he was in the corner (The game broke them up for cornering) and Kurahashi also hit with a Sonic Boom in the same moment (Also pushing Muteki away from him).
Without a doubt doubt muteki is the best. his style is more of offense which show's Guile true potential of his crazy wall pressure game. But I perfer Kurahashi's Guile for he is "in my opinion" the best defensive Guile ever, if you see his match with John Choi's Sagat, your jaws will drop on how he played defensively great on an smart yet aggressively scary play by John Choi's Sagat.
SF players should look older. Hhahha old school. these are the fathers of the tekken, vf, doa, and whatever new generation of fighting players lols. OLD SCHOOL!!! KURAHASHI style!
LOL, f*ckin' Kurahashi and his all-business attitude. WTF is he wearing, a purple dress shirt and sport jacket? He looks like he's dressed to go to work.
This was the first SBO event, so people didn't really know what to wear. Kurahashi obviously wanted to look his best for such a big event. SBO are generally held on national holidays, so I doubt he came from work. There might be a possibility though.
Anyone know how to do the pure cancel to super that Muteki used in the first match? I got the 2x renda cancel to super down, i just wanna know the input for the pure cancel.
This was a great SBO overall, it was the one where Arashi beat Heruru in VF4:Evo. But this match was probably one of the best overall in that Tougeki.
Christ I have been trying to get down throwing sonic booms like that, but damn these guys are crazy.

SF4 and SSF4 is a joke. Look at how much faster and prcise this is.
Not shitty FREE ULTRA moves for losing, or easy timings and massive combo windows. Fucked up matchups.
Super Turbo coinop is the best fighting game for the purist ever made. Ever. In the history of the world there will never be anything this amazing.
Jamerio3D 1 year ago 11
@Jamerio3D While your comment has completely made my day and is gdlk, only thing I disagree with is that ST is purist, I'd say Hyper Fighting is.

SF2T is faster, more precise and its harder to combo (thus more skill involved)

@Jamerio3D FINALLY someone who agrees with me. ive been saying this since SF4 came out.
its too slow, sluggish, crap ultra mechanics.
sf2t is fast, flowing, proper skilled gaming.

im a guile player and i know its to
1. fake out your oppenent
or
2.when you do punches while holding back you can throw sonic booms and when they try to jump over them and land into you they land into your fist.
well that has worked for a me a couple times there reasoning could be different
kidy3k 3 years ago 2
You are correct.
Anyway the reason why they throw punches and kicks between the sonic booms are to time when to throw the sonic booms. It's nice way to keep a rhythm.
