58 people clearly don't know how to read a cat's body language. The only thing I can see which could've POSSIBLY been done better is to lower the water level. You can clearly see there's plenty of room for the cat to escape from the tub if it so desires, but it does not and the owner doesn't block the escape route either. Also, cat's usually lay down their ears when they feel something on their head like a hand... or water. This isn't torture, it's just a cat relaxing in the water

That is how I used to swim when I was a kid. Mostly clinging to the side. I can see there is a way on the outside of the tub some kind of bar that this cat could easily use to get out if it wanted too.

@TheJoTubes no it's not too high for her. #1 cats can swim #2 letting the cat swim in high water (while you are keeping eye on her) are very good for cats and for their legs especially if they are getting a physical treatment.

@jennyx0x I was a bit sensitive to the word "cruel," I don't think it should be used so lightly. I don't know if you can read Japanese or not, but the owner said the cat can get out on its own, and does get out after 20minuets or so. I just think calling this "cruel" is too much. I don't know about your cat, but mine can definitely jump from a tippy-toe/stretch position.

Have you ever tried to keep a cat someplace it wants to get out? You are more likely to have it claw over your body and face as it tries to get away. My cats can jump over a 5 foot fence... this cat can certainly get out, and instead it is relaxing and then swimming across gently. My own cat sits in the bath until the water covers her feet and tail.

Though they're few, in every clip I've seen of a housecat that's fine in water they don't use their rear legs hardly, if at all.

My last St Bernard dog always sort of looked like an outboard motor out of the water, splashing about with her front legs and going nowhere... we looked underwater and she didn't move her back legs at ALL so her butt sank! And my first St Bernard and current St Bernard swim perfectly well with all four legs with no trouble the very first time. So how does this fit your theory? Ps, tigers swim very well and they have "cat rear legs".
