Yes they can fly vertically when startled, they eat insects, fruits and seeds.

Very cute quails. They look happy and healthy. I loved the guinea pig moving in for his share of the food! Did you harvest the quail eggs? I used to live in Korea and quail eggs were a delicacy there. Kudos to you for being a good quail mom.

They're males so no eggs unfortunately , when i used to have a female she layed an egg a day so i found i had more eggs than i knew what to do with and gave them away to friends and family.

My two males sometimes fight now and then but for the most part they get along fine.

A female wouldnt be the best idea. The males rape the females constantly and end up pulling out all their feathers and sometimes even draw blood. If you where to do that id say at least get a couple of females so he's not just picking on the one constantly.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting two quails. I've researched quite a bit about them, but I have some questions! ^^

are they noisy? like i mean eccesively, like finches. It's alright if they make the odd chirp, but do are they constantly chirpy?

also, which sex should I get?

Im not too keen on breeding them, so i thought maybe 2 females, but I heard they dont live very long so maybe 2 males, but my question is, do males fight eachother like some animals do?

Hey there! If you get two males they will make the odd crow, in breeding season they will crow alot more though. At the moment mine hardly crow at all, you get realy used to it i dont even notice anymore. I guess it depends where you keep them too, if they're inside the house the crowing might become a problem cause it is pretty loud. My two males do fight quite a bit but they never end up seriosuly injuring eachother, its more like dominance wrestling.

Females do live alot less longer because they pop eggs out constantly! It's realy draining to their bodies but your apparently supposed to feed them special crumble that will supliment their calcium etc. so if you can find one that may help alot with their lifespan. I tried my hardest but could never find a crumble with the right amounts of vitamins and minerals in it and my female quail only survived to 7months.
