apes didn't live in the time of homo sapiens, not the "great apes". homo erectus and modern great apes came from a single common ancestor that was ape like from which speciated into said prodgeny. This is all elementary evolution 300 terms. get with it.

well they didnt live all the same, some just moved from place to place. but the most important thing is the genetic mutations or genetic differences, how come that humans aren't exactly the same, as in clones. because of genetic differences. the difference between an asian and a afro it;s the same from a chimp and a gorilla, but for the chimp and gorilla the genetic differences are much larger.
