  • @chrisjasonx I've listen to the lyrics he is saying gotham city is a city of justice, peace and love !! Singing that he want gothem city to be those things would be even more stupid !!

  • this nigga sings about imaginary places, big booty's , an flying his shid still sound tight

  • it's a shame there is no place like he sings about the world is getting a very ugly place with killing and hate why cant we all just get along we all could do so much but we do so little.

  • @jason000012 Gotham was the exact opposite of what he was singing about! This song was like an idealistic anthem as part of the story.

  • How could this song even be attached to a Batman movie???

I mean, seriously. It's totally not fitting.

It's one of the many reasons why "Batman & Robin" sucked BIG TIME.

  • @StriderEstel R. Kelly is singing about a city torn apart by violence, one with no form of justice- no 'hero'. He goes on to say that kids need a city that differs from this, one with peace, love, justice, and overall, a hero to bring this. He uses 'Gotham City' as a metaphorical city for this, why? Because Gotham City is a well recognized city, one that a person would almost instantly know.

  • Music... yea its about a fake place... that don't mean nothin. Learn from this man!

  • This My Shhhhh...Love It

  • Simply put....the HOTNESS!!!

  • So, so bad. How can this song take itself seriously having been written about the "Gotham City" of Batman & Robin? A city of justice?

  • @PlanetMan77 It's metaphorical, genius.

  • The worl will hurt when it's time for

R.Kelly to go home... R&B will die with him

  • way better than the remix

  • This was the song attached to that Bat movie with Arnie doing cringeworthy one liners about ice and Uma Thurman playing Poison Ivy via Mae West.

  • Thumps up if u know how to spell "People"

  • @187Ganja i do now

  • @187Ganja

Thumbs up if you know how to spell "thumbs". %D

  • @Mrster lol u sound like a big time no life

  • @187Ganja

    Heh, calm down, kiddo.

I don't know if you were replying to someone regarding how to spell "people", or if you had some other meaning for it. I replied as a joke, it really called for it. Hence the smiley. Bwahah.

  • @187Ganja and "peaceful"

  • Oh yeah, Gotham is a nice city if you can get past all the crime & drugs. Oh wait lets not forget about the often occurance of the Joker escaping Arkham & possibly attacking you.

  • why on earth dd he remix this??

  • Love this song..

  • Man I remember after 9/11 people was singing this song except they changed the lyrics to New York City.

  • this song is nice. kinda deep. got that whole "blues in the ghetto" feel.

i don't know if you're familiar with the song. it's pretty good.

  • Imagine Batman penetrating Robin into his anus to the tune of this song.

    Have a nice day now.

  • Oh the great memories! Love this song.

  • You know what Gotham is a pretty nice place, Just ignore the joker killing people left and right and Bane lifting trucks over his head and it's not that bad.

  • @dannytheman1313 what about that gas scarecrowe had

  • @dannytheman1313 pft not like there's such a thing as batman to stop them.

  • this song is only good thing about Batman & Robin - the 90 minute gay joke & thats coming from die hard Batman fan, its good to see Bat's back to being the bad-ass he is in the nolan-verse =D

  • ARKHAM CITY....... OH YEAH!!!

  • I love this song so much and my 4 year old daughter asks to listen to it all the time. What a wonderful world it would be.

  • My hatred for batman and robin has just been fucking doubled.

  • At Gaza City

  • This should be called GAZA CITY

  • @round8ere gaza? where the government places bombs in zoos? ha XD gimme a break

  • @kandinskyforfootball yes they are. Even sometimes me being black and stuff, I try my best to become heroes to all the little ones and try not to be a mean person cause children can read people well. I always love being the man that makes a person feel alive. Even people. I hope that made sense in some way.

  • Preach boy, preach!

  • lol man i remember this

  • I love this song much more than the remix of it.

  • Because when you think Gotham City, the most corrupt, crime ridden city ever put into any form of fiction you think of "A city of justice, peace and love" Did this guy ever watch or read a Batman movie or comic book?

  • @tomontherun99 He's trying to be hopeful did you ever hear of that word, everybody needs it. Hope is what drives the citizens of Gotham to strive for a better city...Even batman knows that.

  • @tomontherun99 Despite the endless rain, there's always that little glimmer of sunshine that resides beyond the clouds. You just need some help on your way finding it, this is where Batman comes in!

  • I cry because I want a city like this

  • 4:14 - children are blessing aren't they. :-)

  • @chriswhitting I want a world like this so much for dreamers.

  • THE 90'S THE BEST

  • why is New York City called Gotham City anyway?

  • thanks!

  • I miss the 90's... Those were the days of my teens, no worries or problems to solve. Now as an adult, it helps to get nostalgic with this! Epic!...

  • Such melancholy!

  • This makes me miss my childhood. One of the first cds I bought when they came out ;)

  • A city of justice, love, and peace. I'd love to see it one day before I pass.

  • I don't really like the remix but I sure love this.

  • This song teaches a lot.

  • This song should be used for The Dark Knight Rises.

  • Oh...Hulk Sorry...Hulk was just listening to R. Kelly sing about how peaceful Gotham City is.

  • @lastdragon55

    you WIN

  • wish there was a love button

  • If ya'll like this song that much, you should listen to this guy's remixed version. I'm not trying to spam or whatever it's called, I just think this guys work should be more popular than what it actually is.

  • u're da best

  • I miss good RnB =(

  • @MrSuperFly86 no reason to miss good RnB, Justin Beiber and Miley taking it to a new level...go JB!

  • @RayNasty28 Taking what to what level? Haul u rass

  • the best song of R. Kelly

  • Can you just remember when you were younger sitting on your floor in front of the tv watching Batman and Robin??

  • very few people realize this is the best song on the face of the universe i tend to prefer classic rock and old school hip hop but this is still the best by far

  • great song

  • Couldn't have used this for Dark Knight, it was a different kind of movie, too dark. But it is a nice song.

  • The movie=shit

    This song=THE shit!!!!!!

  • LMAO This is better than a "Weird Al" Yankovic song.

  • A city of love? a city of justice? a city of peace? dude, i think this guy sings about another gotham city...

  • @arkhamsharley He's talking about how Gotham City needs to be a city of peace, justice and love. And with the help of Batman, Gotham City is just that.

  • @arkhamsharley Hey Genis, the song was meant for a soundtrack.

  • I'm Batman

  • Massive kick/splash :)

  • Comment removed

  • This is truly beautiful. I hate that damn 'remix' crap, there should have been a video for this version ONLY! Thanks for posting it! (O:

  • longing for dis city

  • "...a city of love, a city of peace for everyone of us," Are we still referring to the same Gotham City where there's a viglantle who calls himself vengence and hunts down crime-lords because the police can't handle it? Were the lyricists dense? Were they retarded? Clearly, the song-writer didn't do their research because Gotham is one hell of a violent city where the Goddamn Batman wages war against crime.

  • @CanadianSushiLover He's referring to what Gothamites would like their city to be.

  • God damn, those movies were terrible/ But they had some great music :)

  • That's unfair to dwell on this man's PAST mistakes. Every single one of us make mistakes, which we learn from. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like it if every day of your life you had to be reminded of a painful part of your past, by people who refuse to let it go. Appreciate the music, leave his past where it belongs!

  • damn i miss the good times back in the day...old shcool music rules and still lives...!!!

  • they should have used this for "the dark knight"

  • @bawalker022 this song wouldn't look that great for the dark knight, neither would kiss from a rose, I'm sorry, but these songs came at the right time in the right type of society.

  • @bawalker022 Amen, brother!

  • u're the best

  • zajebista muza

  • hhhmmmmmmmmm. gay looking batman with nipples+ gay director + song telling you theres a place you can go. well what do think think of that young man!

just google Mooseph and you can find more.

  • YO R Kelly Check out my page i'll show you what Gotham City is really like. I might even have something soft for the ladies.

    Youtube Mooseph

  • I mean he supposedly had sex with a little girl

  • This the best version of this song! Kelly killed this one! Peace!

  • i believe dis song is real we need someone to come to our rescue this song can be used as a metaphor on everybody lives

  • And I know it's supposed to be IN New Jersey, but It's based of Manhattan, NYC, Chicago, and Pittsburgh.

  • In terms of atmosphere, Batman writer and editor Dennis O'Neil has said that, figuratively, "Batman's Gotham City is Manhattan below Fourteenth Street at eleven minutes past midnight on the coldest night in November." from Batman Wiki

  • SEAL and R. Kelly knocked both songs out of the park in each Batman! BRING BACK THE 90'S

  • Another one of R.Kelly's classics. Always sang along with this one, wasn't really worth listening too ofcourse, my singing, but it made me HAPPY

  • this song is a simple way to say that there is always a hero there for you. You dont have to find them they are there in everyday life the person that opens a door for you or helps someone across the, road you yourself are a hero to someone " We all need it cant live without it" says it all we wouldnt get through our day without someone doing something to improve our lives you just need to see it thank you to everyone that has ever helped me.

  • Bring back the the 90s!

  • i just missed the movie batman and robin the movie on tv but heard this last song at the end and it got my attention..awesome song

  • I'm digging this song. It's better than the movie. "Gothaaaam City"....yeah, sing it, R. Kelly.

  • @wede1138 I want to pee in your food

  • One of my favorite R.Kelly tracks. I will listen to this and others until the day I die.

  • remarcable song

  • damn the movie was just so bad tho

  • whats wrong with committing your self to God??. i thinks that's highest form a man could ever do.. if r kelly sing about it and the song doesn't get famous like lady gaga's non sense music so be it.. but i thinks that's way better than those crap pop music of today..

  • i love this song, this song is so beautiful, and i love R.Kelly

  • I think all of us need a Gotham city as described as in this song.

  • I think all of us need a Gotham city described as in this song.

  • what made him do a song bout this?

  • @MrMoviedreamer The Batman Movie? Duhh??

  • Why do people hate Christians? People should stop believing this secular mainstream stereotype about us. We are not perfect, we just understand right from wrong more clearly than those who are not adherents to the true faith. I myself was raised a Judæo-Christian, but trust me, I am far from perfect. Heck, my bloodline traces all the way to the Caesars... so, you can imagine my trials and tribulations as a mere human being. And any immoral treatment upon people, especially women, is wickedness.

  • @EmperadorElijah and my bloodline traces all the way back to monkey and amoebas. U mad?

  • @EyeOnTheTV . Actually, I am not lying. My bloodline traces to Mary Ball Washington (George Washington's mother), then to King Henry VIII, and further back to Augustus Caesar. And, to answer your question if I am mad, then answer is no, but I can tell you with complete certainty the federal government is. Besides, I am a Christian. What profit is there for me if I lie? Leave all the deceit and wickedness for the Illuminati.

  • @EmperadorElijah hmm i'm pretty sure that if everyebody goes back far enough he/she can say that a persons blood runs trough his/her vains.

  • @EmperadorElijah I don't hate Christians, but here is one thing that bothers me about some Christians: It annoys me when Christians say "We're not perfect" as if it's some kind of surprising discovery. It's the opposite of surprising. Believe me, it's very obvious to non-Christians that you're not perfect and we are rarely impressed by your behavior or your morality.

  • @jst1g. We say we are not perfect to solidify the fact that we too are mere humans. Sometimes people will accuse us of saying that we claim to be perfect. Verily, when they do so, they are committing character assassination. And the reason unbelievers are not impressed with kindness and moral behavior is because they may not be shown and or display that on a constant basis and will outright reject it. Sometimes people regardless of upbringing will shun kindness because they feel unworthy.

  • @EmperadorElijah I think "We don't think we're perfect" sounds better than "We're not perfect." I don't think Christians are perfect, but I sometimes get the impression that some of them think they are. So if you mean the former I think I get it.

I value kindness, love, compassion, and fairness. But it is not clear to me that Christians exemplify or grasp these values any better than non-Christians. My concern is that many Christians think they do and without any strong evidence.

  • @jst1g. Oh, and off topic, I genuinely thank you for composing your response in eloquent and correct English diction. Sometime people in public forums such as this do not take the extra time to compose clearly written responses. I am simply saying that I sincerely appreciate your clearness of speech. People should be able to openly debate and disagree freely, and it just helps when they do so with clear vernacular. God be with you.

  • *"Sometimes" (forgot the "s." So much for "eloquent and correct English diction, huh? LOL.

  • @EmperadorElijah Ah don't worry about that. I can't stand it when people pick on little typos and grammatical errors.

  • @jst1g. By the way, the song on this page is pretty awesome. Perhaps this dialogue with you and others can return to that topic... I like how the instruments in especially the guitar and string music perfectly flow with the lyrics. I can just imagine the Gotham City skyline coming into view on a moonlit night as this song is being played. It kind of reminds me of similar music for Smallville's interpretation of Metropolis, another D.C. comics universe. Neato, huh?

  • @EmperadorElijah I came to this page because I was wondering about R. Kelly's choice of lyrics. I'm a fan of Batman (especially the Animated Series) and I think of Gotham City has being a crime ridden cesspool that Batman can barely keep together, so why the positive lyrics?

My theory so far is that R. Kelly sees Gotham City as a sort of fantasy world where a hero will save you if you get in trouble, but that it's a possibly a dream that might inspire people who grow up in rough environments.

  • @jst1g Gotham city is (much like most fictional cities in the DC universe) based on Chicago illinois where R. Kelly grew up, and they even filmed many parts of Batman begins and Dark knight there, perhaps he was aware of that while making the song. I mean that Chicago inspired Gotham, not that they would film there in the future obviously.

  • @coldpawofthefurs I don't even know how many times i'll have to tell dum fuks this, but... GOTHAM IS BASED ON NEW YORK!!!

  • @OswaldsNightingale You should really learn to spell "Dumb Fucks" before calling someone that. And no, Gotham is Chicago, Metropolis is New York, and Star City is Dallas.

  • @coldpawofthefurs ya, i know how to spell it, I'm just sick of every chicago idiot saying Gotham is chicago just because they filmed the last movie there. Bill Finger named it Gotham because he didn't want people to identify it with New York, but "Gotham" had long been a well-known nickname for New York City even prior to Batman's 1939 introduction.." look it up, it's right there on Wikipedia. It was originally going to be based off of Manhattan Island.

  • @OswaldsNightingale Oh wow, really, wikipedia? I am done with you. P.S. I am not from chicago.

  • @coldpawofthefurs Did I say you were from Chicago? If you're so damn sure, prove me wrong. I won't hold my breath.

  • @OswaldsNightingale

Its actually compared to New Jersey not New York. If you need proof check out the creator of batman and anything he defined as the "City of Justice".

  • @PaulKrew89 I meant NYC anyway before, not the state. Frank Miller has said that "Metropolis is New York in the daytime; Gotham City is New York at night." According to DC legend Neal Adams, Gotham's real world counterparts are Chicago and New York City. It depends on how you see it, I guess. We CAN both be right. BTW, I was gonna reference where I found these, but the post wouldn't let me.

  • I like when he says, "Sleeping away because of fear, children drowning in their tears, we need a place where we can go, a land where everyone will have a hero." I think everyone in every major city can relate to that.

  • this song is one of my best song i love it so much.....
