  • Tasteless fools trying to always compare 2 legends in their own regard. Bruce Lee is Bruce Lee, and Mas Oyama is Mas Oyama. they both probably had their strengths and weaknesses. No one wins in a hypothetical fight, only fanboys pick who they think will win with their ignorant minds and lack of knowledge...

  • He had an exceptional build for karate. Just look at his forearms. Sure, he trained hard, but he also was gifted. A XXth century Musashi.

  • Me irán a tratar de loco, pero si tuviera una máquina del tiempo me encantaría reunir a estos genios y ver estas peleas: Oyama vs. Joe Lewis; Funakoshi vs. Yip Man; Ken Shamrok vs. Chuck Norris; Bruce Lee vs. Huo Yinjia; Muhamad Ali vs. Joe Louis; Rickson Gracie vs. Kimura; Choi Hong vs. Frank Dux; Jack Johnson vs. Mike Tyson y Royce Gracie vs. Wally Jay. Espero que les guste.

  • who would win Kimura or Oyama?

  • @Flyingtart In fact, Bruce wasnt skinny. This is a misconception from videos of his, he is infact very buff up. Look at him, he is only 170~171cm in height yet he is over 70kg in weight, he is actually consider obese or overweighted if you look at BMI index. But you and i know he is ripped of muscles.

  • @Flyingtart well, its been quite some time since you posted but i would like to mention that i believe if Bruce and Oyama were to spar in street fight, it would most likely end up as a draw and they will become best friends.

In fact, Lee IS capable to punch someone to death, but he couldnt do that as he is a celebrity. I believe animal slaughtering such as killing bull and someone really gives a negative image on anyone, besides martial artist obviously.

  • AKUMA: KATO WA YOIKA?!!!(ARE YOU PREPARED?!!) ISSHUN SENGEKI!!!(A THOUSAND DEATHS IN AN INSTANT!!) KORE WA..MESSATSU(THIS IS.. MESSATSU)

MAS OYAMA: KATO WA YOIKA?!!(ARE YOU PREPARED?!!) ISHI GEKI HISSATSU!!(ONE HIT, ONE DEATH!!) KORE WA..KYOKUSHINKAI!!!! X)

    OSSU!!!

  • @muker123

Yeah in pro fights he would go far in amateur boxing someone said (wikipedia section about his fighting career, which he didnt have). You cant compete in wing chun fights.

  • Kyokushin and Goju Ryu Karate are the last Real Karate strongholds due to the implacable overseeing of Mas Oyama and Morio Higaonna, which prevented their arts of going the same way of TKD, Kung Fu, etc

  • There is definately a difference between modern sporting arts and pre-1900 martial arts. I agree with you there. But what about Shorin Ryu and Kosho Shorei Ryu? These are still, for the most part, old-style martial arts.

  • Watered down TKD , yes, watered down kung fu, probably. Watered down Karate? YES. Watered Down Kyokushin? Hell no bitches.

  • @xGoC

    OSU!

  • @xGoC I hate watered down alcoholic drinks. When I get a watered down double scotch, I give the bartender an un-watered down jodan mawashi geri, then take my money back.

  • Ha, well said.

  • oyama is the best.

is fast, strong and a real figther.

    ossu !!

    i really love kyokushin

  • Bit disappointed really. I always looked up to him with the bull killing and all, but I havn't seen any footage of him versus bulls so far that shows anything a decent cowpuncher couldn't have pulled off. Or a grappler. Once you throw a bull, then theres lots of ways to kill it. Sure the 'one punch bull kill' sounds good (not that i've seen that in this vid or others) tell the truth it looks more like he beats the poor thing to death.

Now if he'd done some matador move then ko'ed it...

  • Some ppl seem to compare Mas Oyama & Bruce Lee on their comments. There is no comparison between these two. They are completely different class of fighters. Ppl can check their records. Oyama defeated pretty much all tough men in the whole world in his time, also beat few bulls. Lee, he won a championship in California or something like this. They accomplished totally different level of things. Also you can look at it this way, how many ppl practice Kyokushin, how many ppl practice JKD.

  • the reason why JKD is not as popular as Kyokushing is because thats what Bruce wanted. Bruce told Dan to keep the numbers low and the quality a priority. Also bruce befor he died he closed down all his schools, and tought a select few. thats why the only people that are efficient in JKD were private students of Dan, Ted wong, Jerry pottet, taky kimura. Kyokushing sadly it took the role like most arts many schools but few are good. it is sad when great arts get watered down

  • Thanks for the info.

  • ive never seen watered down Kyokushin

  • watered dowo kyokushi karate , kung fu, tae kwon do. what i mean by watered down is that there are so many posers that is hard to find the real deal. thats why traditional martial arts have gotten a bad name since the MMA came out. because many "Black belts" get their asses whooped because they did not have good instruction. but with good intruction in karate (or the others) look at lyoto machida in the UFC he won the championship and he is undeafeated and has never lost a round in the cards

  • MMA schools are also watered down, there are bad schools for every martial art. You have to look around hard to find the "real deal" for any martial art, because a lot of MMA schools are run by people mixing TKD with a couple ground moves they learned on youtube.

  • I agree every martial art will always be watered down eventually..it is what it is

  • Um, JKD isn't as popular because its not a style, its a principle. Even in his book he wants people to read it, than burn it. It was NEVER meant to become a style of fighting, because he wanted people to take what works for them, and throw out the rest. Styles are set in stone, hardly changing. JKD becoming a style would have been the last thing Bruce ever wanted. His son Brandon said the same thing.

  • Actually that is not entirely true I used to think the same thing, but JKD is a style, but what Bruce meant was that one was not suposed to be bound by it. in other words if u learn "traditional"JKD u can improve it n bring ideas to the table, but they need to improve the style not add ramdom thechniques. there is a reason why bruce chose what he did. and Dan inosanto and ted wong, have said that to learn true JKD first you learn what bruce tought exactly, and then you get rid of what dont need

  • Bruce was an extraordinary man and fighter, but Mas had the experience of fighting a 100-man kumite, which gives him the toughness and fearlessness to be a fighter. It's gonna take more a side kick or a one-inch punch to keep him down. If Bruce were to have came into the fight cocky and lost...then what?

  • He did 300man kumite not 100,and he would be fighting more, but there were no ppl who can fight.

  • oyama would beat bruce becaues bruce was acting alot an did get to train as much as he wanted. plus oyama was very hard an could take alot of hits.bruce was very fast. will that my guss any way we will never really know.they are both dead.

  • oss !

  • wow. 10th dan? My sensei is only 4th and hes amazing. incredible!

  • RAMBO!! IS THE WINNER-RAMBO FIRST BLOOD xD

  • :O Mas oyama vs Bruce lee ´who win? reply !

  • oyama

  • Osu! i do kyokushinkai karate long time ago and i learned much things from martial arts. bruce lee was fast like a thunder (oyama was fast too but lee was faster.) bruce lee was verry powerful (like chuck norris) but oyama was powerful. oyama deafeted more than 50 bulls and he crashed a stone with his hand. i was reading from oyama legends (bear fighting.) i think oyama is stronger the bruce lee. they made other fighting style. in my opinion every fighting style good if you can use it. Osu!

  • oyama

  • Oyama

  • Oyama!

  • Bruce Lee

  • Nope! Lee was a movie star! Oyama was a fighter!

  • Nope too! moreover than an actor, Bruce Lee was a street fighter, an very influent bodybuilder and martial arts philosopher. And also, he didnt killed bulls without reason... I have a great respect fo Mas Oyama, but in my opinion Bruce was greater.

  • Bah comeon, street fighter? He fought about as much on the street as Oyama did (like 2-3 times)

Oyama got a real fighting record (Lee have only movie record and some amateur boxing when he was young)

    Oyama was called godhand.

Skinny fighters are faster than big powerful fighters, but still there are weightclasses because a 70kg guy cant beat a 130kg guy.

  • in the street there are no wieghtclass and i dont care if h was called godhand, but bruce was way faster and way more alusive...an eye jap oyama is in trouble..and by the way bruce was 130 pound but use to hit like someone double his size...you are understimating him

  • In the street the bigger person win. Thats it. Well a few kgs might not be a big difference but this... Oyama was a genuine fighter. Lee was something more. Lee would never be able to punch anyone to death with one hit. And speed... If speed was better than size and muscle, there would be no weightclasses.

On street: Oyama take down Lee just like some MMA match, and choke him or do some submission. Lee is not strong enough to resist.

  • first of all grapplig is based on leverage not strenght i have beaten fighters that are much more stronger than me, and the biger person dosent always win the smartest does, didnt you see kimbo slce getting knock out, dindt you see brock lesnar being submited. didnt you see rashad evans ultimate fighter finaly beating a guy that was like a foot taller than win. dint you see renso gracie beatin 200 poundrs...and if bruce was not strong why he puched a hole trough a 150 pound bag with a side kick

  • i hate it when some idiots come like he was so small so he hit faster and shit, smaller dudes only retaliate faster then bigger ones because they have less weight behind it. But velocity of a single powerfull punch well we dont know who would be faster, lee or oyama, but only one of them fought real fights and killed bulls with a single punch while other dude was in movies doing funny sounds and beating up some asian nerds even i could beat.

  • Bruce was a martial artist by choice and a actor by profession, just because he acted that dosent mean he could not fight. bruce fought many real fight even against armed oponents so dont give me he wasnt a real fighter BS. Oyama was more powerfull than bruce I'll give you that but that dosent mean that Bruce couldn't beat him, and bruce had power and speed, oyama had only power

  • oyama was fast too..

  • he was a good fighter and very strong also fast. but bruce lee was faster more mobile and more elusive. I personally Bruce would had won cause of his speed(have you seen his eye jab footage I think almost no one could block it) but in the the I bet if they had met each they would of shaken hands and most likely shared teechniques.. ;)

  • yeah, they were both too honorable, humble, and badass to feel the insecure need to prove they are better than the other. although i will say this, bruce has never gone up against someone like oyama. like bruce, mas oyama was way ahead of his time..

  • @Flyingtart Yeah they can win. You were okay until that last concept.

  • @Flyingtart I mean do you think a weightlifer has any chance against a Muay Boran master even if thai people are small, no way, and aikido gets rid of the strength factor.

  • @LightxKira5643

A small fighter CAN win but then the small guy would be lucky.

There is a reason for weightclasses and Lee vs Oyama wouldn't be like a weightlifter vs muay boran because Oyama wasn't a weightlifter, but a well rounded fighter. If small guys could win just because they are fast then you wouldn't need weightclasses in MMA for example.

  • @Flyingtart Some MMA fighters jsut can't fight, but once you get to a certain level it doesn't really matter. Muay Boran fighters, Aikido (make size completely useless style pretty much), and so on. Size doesn't matter if the guy is fast and is elbowing you in the head. I mean bulk muscle just slows you down, fighters don't want to be to bulky, softtone abs is important, useless muscle just slows you down. Like Karate people art muscular (real ones) but not bulky, they hit thousands of....

  • @LightxKira5643

Size wouldn't matter if the opponent has no experience in martial art. Man you can't go into a MMA fight vs Brock Lesnar with some akido and think that will help you. If you practice a system made to help you in a real life sitauation you can have great use of something like Muay Boran, Krav Maga, Systema etc but if the opponent is a good fighter he will absolutely have advantage of his size. Try go BJJ vs a guy much larger than you and with the same experience.

  • @Flyingtart I do a lot of evasive arts. Anyway, I train more than most people. Like I was raised by my parents, both martial artists, to have fighting as a main thing for me. Though I kinda keep this from people because they'll just go "but I do mma" and think they pwn when I've almost died on multiple ocassions training and have passed out quite often while training. But the more I grow up the less it seems like I had a fucked up childhood and the more it seems like I could lay down the law.

  • @LightxKira5643

I don't know what that has to do with the subject, but it's good that you train hard. Myself I just injured something in my knee so I'm pausing from everything. If you have been training alot of fighting you should know how hard it is to go against someone much heavier than you.

  • @Flyingtart Nope, the people who beat me aren't better because they are bigger. IT's because they are beasts like me who are trained by some of the top fighters in the world. Like one is trained in boxing by a godly boxer. Not ring boxing and he doesn't box professionally but he could beat any of those fuckers up like nothing. They travel around the country, they help him out with money gathering and whatever he asks and he trains them. They all live with him, they probally do illegal jobs.

  • @Flyingtart Because they seem to be doing pretty well considering they travel so much and really don't do much solid jobs. But even the students are gods. Like they don't have the weaknesses of regular boxers and are trained as hard as me, but with a stronger fighter. my parents are skilled but they aren't master class. I don't mean the youtube videos that say master class, it's a kinda phrase that me and my friends use to point out people who are inhuman to normal fighters.

  • @LightxKira5643

You speak alot of bullshit my friend :)

  • @Flyingtart It can decide a fight on lower leveled fjight but it doesn't count for shit when both know to fight. Becaue at that point both can effective3ly combat it without any effort.

  • @Flyingtart pounds of force into a person, doesn't matter how much they train, they're body will eventually give out even if they are big and have willpower.

  • @LightxKira5643

And yeah fighters don't go for hypertrophy but from training maximum strenght and explosivity you will gain muscle anyway.

  • @Flyingtart MMA isn't real fighting. A lighter person would rely on targeting eyes, throat and groin. Rules favour the heavier person. Early UFC did not have much rules and smaller guys were beating larger guys bck then.

  • @SuperVegettoV3

Target the eyes? It is a girly tactic that would only result in oblitareted fingers if you try against a heavy fighter...

Not to mention the groin, it's for punks that doesnt have the balls to fight like a man, and in the end never works agains a skilled fighter, it will just piss him off...

  • @arucardseito Well you've just showed me what you know about fighting by calling eye strikes a girly tactic. You obviously believe all of that macho "fight fair" and "fight like a man" bullshit. Self defence martial arts was originally for survival by any means necessary. If a martial art can't help you to fight someone bigger and stronger then that martial art isn't worth shit because it just becomes strength vs strength. There is a technique to finger jabbing the eyes to protect fingers.

  • @SuperVegettoV3 I couldn't agree more. If it's not anything goes then you are probably engaged in a pride fight, which in my opinion is little boy shit. Now if I am defending my friends at a place we cannot all flee, then I may withhold maiming techniques out of a sense of compassion for my voluntary victim who does not realized he or she was risking being blinded over an inflated sense of ego.

  • @Flyingtart ....a tai chi master defeated mas oyama...the smoothness is more stronger than hardness

  • @estudiomantras

Haha 100% bullshit. To knock someone out you have to hit him hard in the face, liver or kidneys. There isn't magic man. Smoothness cannot win... Look up kiai master vs MMA and you will see what I mean.

If you could win fights by doing slow movments and hoping for magic, then the fight sport scene would look very different than it does today.

  • Bruce Lee was a martial artist and an actor too*

Sosai lived by only the martial arts

  • thats a misconception, lee was a fighter first but became a star because there is more money an he could gethis messege across...but bruce was a rel fighter he even use to ship his training equipment to every country he use to goto film...but they are great fighter both oyama and lee

  • Can anyone translate what Mas Oyama is saying to English?

  • yes he said chung long chan cheen con chula chelas poncho

  • OSU!

  • Osu!!!

  • oSu!

  • OSU

  • OSU.

  • wa wlahma twasslouhe

  • Os !!

  • wow

  • Osu!

  • No Mas O Yama Never tore off the bulls horns see what he's doing in the beggining of the clip, hes training Knife Hand techniques and because of his traning of many years he developed a strong enough hand and arm to Dehorn Small bulls around 500-700lbs with the knife hand technique he was impaled at one point, and he killed 3 bulls out 53 or 58 I cannot remember imprssesive none the less

  • Nah Mas killed a guy in a bar fight when someone pulled a knife on him before he became Famous. I've also heard Bruce Lee killed someone as well but theyre so many stories about Bruce Lee about his life and fights he had done and others I know Bruce Lee broke a baseball bat with a punch on the set of the Green Hornet haha messed up.

  • bruce had a bad temper..he's right fight without a fight just blame it on woods or wall haha

  • a19761019 is a ignorant dumbass!

  • my brothers what does Osu mean?

hear it a lot, and paul from tekken says it too.

  • "I understand and will try my best."

Also used to show respect, enthusiasm.

Do not use outside of the dojo!

this is one definition to help you understand.

  • also Ryo,,Robert,Yuri, and Takuma(he is based off of Mas) say it too. :) Paul Rocks though!

  • whatever you do, do thousand times everyday for many years. MOST of people don't 1000 times. Mr.Oyama did and more. He was a regular korean young man with liitle bit Korean martial art skill. he came to Japan during WW2. Time was not really good and tough to Korean people. Time made him like that. He didn't like Japanese martial art people laughing at his Tekkondo(korean martial art). He had to train himself to prove that his martial art is real. He's not a monster. Time made him like that.

  • cumanagoto, are you venezuelan?

  • After his counter punch killed one of chanllenger, he stopped spurring with any one for a while. In stead of spurring with human, he decided to train his hand over breaking. He demonstrated his power with using Bull. One of Japanese broadcasting broadcasted his fighting with Bull. And this is true.

  • He was a korean. When he was young, he learned martial arts from his servant(his family was rich in korea) and then he went over to japan and learned karate from karate master. he also found kyokushin(extremely real) karate for real fight. He really missed korea so, he never tried to diffuse karate in korea because of that he rally wanted tae kwon do to be settled in korea.

  • I can't believe you can knock a bull's horn off!

  • He knocked the bull out and tore the horns out.

  • he born in korea doesen't mean he is korean

  • He was born in Korea to a Korean family. Try again homie.

  • you ignorant knucklehead! he has a Korean Borned name dumbass, and when he speaks Japanese he still had the Korean accent dumbass get you facts straight before you post a dumbass comment!

  • OSU!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone have videos of his bullfights? Those were simply amazing. RIP Oyama. May those challenges come after me like big waves for I am ready.

  • no idea but they are amazing his fists are harder than bulls heads actually they are harder than sledge hammers apparently

  • Mas Oyama the Godhand.

    Osu Sosai.

  • He was the truest of Karate Legends.

  • Master Oyama - It took a Powerful Korean to show the Japanese what true Karate is. Osu.

  • However he study under Japanese teachers and considered himself japanese.

  • he only considered himself a japanese national not a japanese.... but at that time all koreans were japanese nationals in the japanese empire....

  • I don't do Kyokushin but I have the utmost respect for Mas Oyama. Truly a legend. It's a shame that most martial artists are so caught up in their own style that they are oblivious to amazing people from another style. After all, the principles of martial arts are the same - it should bind people together, like music does!

  • second to none this man is.osu

  • OSU

  • Great martial artist. Osu!

  • Iam HOUNERDto be doing this fighting style!! osu!!!

  • I cannot bow lowly enough!

  • i second that! osu!
