Lutherans stemmed from a man considered to be a heretic in the RC Church, as well as all his follows, Martin Luther, in the 1500's who began the Protestant Reformation when he nailed his 95 thesis to the church doors requesting a debate over the use of indulgences, one of the main ways the RC church brought in money to the church, teaching souls would be released from Purgatory. Many people had nightmares in the RC church!

also IMO just because they don't do charity work in the community doesn't necessarily mean it's a cult (this is a cult though), The People's Temple (Jim Jones Church) Helped the community by feeding the poor and what not, cults can do good things too. It's the mind control techniques the leaders use that classify a cult.
