Why should Citizenship to any country(culture) be easy? After all - would a Christian German be able to move to and openly practice Christianity and western culture in Morocco? Personally speaking, I am not pro or against this test. But frankly, in MANY countries- the guys who set these tests and the locals often fail the citizenship test themselves. They should've given this test to random German locals and see if they pass it first.

I think the test is quite fair. I'm all for knowledge, and I think that like a drivers licence, people born in germany or wherever should also take a citizenship test when they turn 18, and then be declared a proper german adult.

A test like that is a good idea. If you let immigrants into your country without demanding a certain degree of knowledge about culture and language, you'll end up having several isolative subcultures, people try to gather at certain locations and isolate themselves. There are Turks in Germany who don't speak a word of German, even though they live there for 50 years.

Why would you want to live in Germany? France would be way better, better food, better sounding language. Italy or Spain would be good too. Outside of Europe there's Japan, Australia, the US, Canada. That is the way it is here in the U.S. too. The average American on the street, cannot pass a Civics, Us. History, or Citizenship test. Most can't name their own local politicians, elected officials, or state representatives. Some, don't even know, who the Vice President is.

The test might need to be redone, but it is not a bad idea. Italy is a good example of a country with a terrible immigration population. More and more people arrive every day and don't integrate into the culture but instead form their own groups. This undermines italian culture as well as creates an atmosphere of cultural friction. In the end though, it is the italians who are lazy about their immigration policies but not in their complaining of the consequences.

Citizenship Exams should be very hard, and challanging... reason is not to fail the test taker in reality, but, to push a test taker to the extremes to do his or her own thinking about the nation he/she now wants to spend life in and call it home: Does the person know enough about the nation? Its people, diversity of races, religions, cultures, traditions, and values? If some European reading my comments objects, then he/she must look at how radical Islam is spreading in European Union.

I became a US Citizen in my 3rd year of college, and I have to say one thing: Citizenship Exams are TOO EASY and I felt so ashamed even answering them... Exams should be based on your level of qualification... Illiterate? Easy Exam. School Student? An exam you should be required to take when you're about to finish your high school, and should be taken like state board exams. College Students should have to study a lot more... and all categories of test takers should be exposed to all subjects

This is not a bad idea. As a matter of fact, its one of the better paths to citizen I have heard. Maybe the test should be revised, but an administered test for would be citizens makes sense. People have to show their capacity to contribute to any society, not mooch off of it. If immigrants took the time to learn the language, how did they miss learning the culture?
