  • I submitted this and it aired only once in September of 1978 :

    " 6 and 7's sure can be fussy, Don't freeze, go higher,don't be sucha a pussy...cat"

    There was a 3 second pause between pussy and cat. I have it on master tape,the network mailed it to me.

  • Man! I never forget the show in 31 year. Every Spring Break, Summer Vaction and Winter Break. I une in and watch it at 11 on Channel 5 (Now NBC 5)

  • Jim Perry is hansome,

    and really, quite mannish,

    but why can't we see more,

    of Lowis and Janis?

    Onnnnnnnnn "Card Sharks!"

  • Kings and Queens can bring a smile on your face;

    but you'll cry, if the next card is an Ace!!!

  • Lady Luck can be fickle, or can be one you trust;

    you can win a big fortune, or go BUST!!!

  • A king is a great card, but you can still have anger in your face;

    when the next card you turn, happens to be an ace!!!

  • 7s are terrible, 8s are horrible;

    but aces and deuces are just wonderful!!!

  • Bet them big, Bet them small;

    you'll win a fortune, if you make the right call!!!

  • Here's another opening speel!

    "Aces are wonderful,

    duces are great!

    But whatever you do,

    don't deal me an 8!

    Onnnnnnnnnnnn CARD SHARKS! and here's the host of Card Sharks, Jim Parry!"

    play them wrong, and you'll go broke!!

  • Sixes, Sevens and Eights, can be trouble;

    and even more so if they come up double!!!

  • Turning sevens and eights are never funny, but Aces and deuces can help you win big money!!!

  • King, Queen, or Jack could win big dough;

    but if they come in pairs, it's Oh, No!!!

  • An ace or a Deuce, a King or a Queen;

    if they fall right, you'll win the Green!!!

  • Higher than a Deuce, Lower than an Ace;

    play them right, and have a smile on your face!!

  • Aces and Deuces, can take you to heaven;

    but you'd better watch out for that dreaded 7!!!

  • Calling Higher or Lower may cause Serious Hollers, because an Ace or a Deuce can help you win $32,000 on CARD SHARKS!

  • Aces and Deuces, really flash;

    and will help you win lots of cash!!!!

  • This show is returning to GSN on April 1.

  • @gsn93 Returning?.it never went off.Its ALWAYS been on here from 2am-3am Central. (Bob Eubanks version,then Jim Perry) and has been for a long time now.

  • Aces, Deuces, Kings and Threes;

    You can win a fortune with cards like these!!!

  • With the two, you call "high,"

    With the Ace, you call "low,"

    But with the eight, which way will you go?

    ON CARD SHARKS!

  • When you call lower on a king, you could still be in trouble, if the next card is an ace or a double!!!

  • Aces and Deuces are really great, but stay away from the 7 and 8... on Card Sharks!!!

    Call 'em right...

    And win BIG DOUGH!

    Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn CARD SHARKS!

    And here's the host of Card Sharks...

    Jimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Perry!

  • One of the best game show themes of all time.

  • I agree.

  • An Ace is a good card... and so is a King. But when they come in pairs, disaster they bring... on CARD SHARKS!!

  • yeah you're right it is the exact same theme

  • The theme song for this show is the same theme song for the show "Double Dare" with Alex Trebek as host.

  • @gibsonj338 When I think of the "Double Dare" theme, I always think of the Nickelodeon as Double Dare's theme makes you immediately think of Card Sharks.

  • Aces and Deuces, will get you out of trouble, But you will frown, if they come up double!!!

  • Sounds like the intro to a YES song from the period.

  • Of course. Score Productions virtually did all of the music for Goodson-Todman.

  • Some of it was done by Bob Cobert.

  • This song definitely has the same writers as the Family Feud theme, they almost sound alike (the horn section)

  • Actually, this song was composed by Edd Kalehoff. The Family Feud theme was composed by Robert Israel.

  • As a kid of the '80s, I'm more familiar with the Bob Eubanks version. :) Cool theme though... it was nice for CBS to include this in their Game Show Marathon in 2006.

  • have never been a Card Sharks fan, but i love this theme!

  • That clap at the beginning of this song reminds me about my old girlfriend that gave me the clap. Hurt like hell.

  • How about doing the 1986-1989 theme of "Card Sharks" next?

  • why is this same as double dare

  • I mean much similar to the Double Dare (70s).

  • MG-BT Had a tendency to reycycle all their bells and whistles, like their CBS "dings" where all the same, there NBC "dings" were the same, and their ABC "dings" were the same as well, and we cant forget the "Losing horns"!

  • If I'm right, Alex Trebek had appeared on "Card Sharks" during a special game show emcee week. At the time, he was hosting "High Rollers". I'll bet it was a little awkward for him being on a show with the same theme music as a previous show he hosted, which was "Double Dare" in 1976-1977.

  • I love watching Jim Perry and Bob Eubanks version of this show. I did not care for the one after that it totally sucked.

  • Bill Raffertys Card Sharks is best n Jim Perrys!!!!!!

  • Cross your fingers.

    Wish yourself luck.

    Call the cards right,

    And you'll hit the big buck, ooooooooooon Card Sharks!

  • At the beginning of every show, Gene Wood always said a poem. When Jim Perry came out, he held a card on the left hand while he held a microphone on the right hand. The card read who sent in the poem, where that person is from, where that person is watching and what channel.

  • Clap clap clap goes the song

    for the card game you can play along...

    onnnn..."Card Sharks!"

  • I love Jim Perry's version of "Card Sharks"!!

  • Me too...Eubanks' version wasn't really bad, but I've always liked Perry better. He was more comforting to the contestants and had more personality.

  • I grew up with Eubanks' version. I thought he was a terrible host then. Comparing him to a polished guy like Perry is no contest.

  • At least Eubanks wasn't as bad as, say, Pat Bullard..who hosted a "revision" (if you want to call it such) in 2000-01.

  • Actually, it was 2001-02.

  • Thanks...I knew it was sometime around the turn 'o the millennium! I actually never watched it, but I read something about it.

  • Let's not even bring up that godawful incarnation that even dares to call itself a "remake" of the original. Just forget it even exists, unless your a historian or curious like me and want to learn about it.

  • And you can also make that comment toward the new "remake" of Sale of the Century (another Perry show, as was Card Sharks), called "Temptation." I tried watching it twice, and it SUCKS. And I loved old SOTC too! The only thing you need to learn about it is that it is a pathetic remake of a classic; I guess the only thing that's "redeeming" about it is at least it's better than watching football (I hate football). But I choose to pass on watching both..as long as I have the choice.

  • Well I've never seen Sale of the Century, but I've seen Temptations. Nevertheless, I don't watch that show. I'm more into Maury and Steve Wilkos on weekday afternoons than anyt'g else.

  • Thanks for your comment, but a thing about Maury: I used to watch his show a lot, but now it's just nothing pretty much but paternity tests. His show may as well be, "The Who's Your Daddy Show!" Too much overkill. Why not a variance of topics like his show used to be? I miss the "send my kid to boot camp" shows..and Steve, well his show's just a somewhat toned-down Jerry Springer (Steve is head of security for that show).

  • Yea i feel u on those MoPo shows. Nonetheless I am still used to seeing the paternity eps. As for bootcamp, it seems that jail is becoming a common alternative to that :P

    Also, I don't really watch Springer anymore cause it's starting to bore the hell outta me for some unknown reason. I'd rather watch Steve.

  • I used to watch Springer a long time ago when they actually used to discuss REAL topics, before the bottom fell out...too much anyway. I still watched when it became "crazy", with the fights (before they were banned), but I don't know, I've pretty much dropped most if not all of my talk-show watching habits. ;-)

  • @CraigFoye80 But I don't like the lose on a double rule in the Money Cards; the Gameplay of Eubanks' Version was better especially @ the Money Cards for one, they could change one card per line and two, duplicate cards were no win/no loss (Push).

  • @juan833blue You know what? About mid way through the Perry version they changed the rule in the Money Cards that treated pairs as a Push. It made things more interesting to say the least...

  • @abqwriter And if an Ace or Deuce came up in the Money Cards with the Push Rule, there was NO WAY the contestant could lose with either card and therefore the host demanded the player to go all-in on an ace or a deuce because they couldn't lose.

  • From the sky comes the song of larks.

    On every porch a dog barks.

    The man the call Perry

    just may make you merry.

    For he's your host on... CARD SHARKS!!!

  • The show wasn't too fantastic, but what a theme. I could see my marching band plan playing a variation on this in the stands during football games. GREAT stuff.

  • lol, its not like any normal person would even know what the heck this is. i love game show nuts!

  • have never been a Card Sharks fan, but i love this theme!

  • This was also used on Trebek's Double Dare. Never made it past the 30 second spot though.

  • Duh, revamptation.

  • Edd Kalehoff is ownage!

  • He Is, he really is!
