It's how your set up.What your hearing are overtones ringing through and some p/ups are designed for them to ring through.And having the right set up will help them to ring through as well.Shawns sound was amazing and he used tube driven O/D pedals which like i said if everything is set up right you can get them.Shawn was a master of getting the most out of everything,including his set up.

I can only think of four other guys who play a distorted guitar this expressively...Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Santana, and Uli-Jon Roth. Of the four, the only one who might  be considered as brilliant technically as Shawn is Uli. Shawn was a rare talent and he is definitely missed.
