What size hook are you using? I have tried making this hat with a smaller weight yarn, 3 weight I believe, but it just wouldnt come out right.

I am using a Size J hook. Thicker wool creates bigger project... thinner wool makes it too small. I am just using standard wool in this project. :)

yea, i love your 1st example!?! i love them ^^. idk how you get the lines on 'little boy blue' to match up perfeclty thou. i've tried adding lines to my hats and they always seem a step off.

You have to change the colour when you go to SLIP STITCH BEFORE CHANGING UP THE TWO TO START THE NEXT LINE UP. does that help you at all?

i'm going to try that today, and it's probably 'cause i tend to crochet them in a spiral...which i shouldn't?

that's exactly what causes the misalignment... spiraling upward... I used to spiral myself until just recently... I think it takes a bit of practice to slip stitch and carry on wiht the next row so it looks consistent!
