That movie was very confusing, different from the book and from the original film. They seem to change it every time they re make it. In the original film, she agreed to be killed by her best friend using a knife so she wouldn't loose her kids. This movie was confusing, did they really get killed and changed into robots or did they have some kind of implant put in them. I love Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler but the movie sucked

I actually went to my local F.Y.E. and rebought a copy of The Stepford Wives [see, I owned it for a number of years before, then sold and exchanged it because I was tired with it back in March, and now I want it BACK!], and I've MISSED this movie, big time. I believe it's Glenn Close's most over-the-top performance since the live-action remake of 101 Dalmatians. The rest of the cast are veterans.

I don't think it's so much that they're housewives, just that they're forced to be and have no option in it. If you want to be one, good for you (I wouldn't mind being one so much either, but I DO want a choice in the matter). I also think it's the idea of being completely under someone's control and having no free will that makes it creepy. In the movies, they have no free will, no real personality. now that is obviously not the case, as girls are shown in studies to be smarter than men. ergo marriage should be an equal partnership; no one sex should be dominant over the other just because of their biological basis.

"Equal" (i.e. identical) flies in the face of nature because men and women are not the same. Men typically lead in marriages (as they do in politics) because they posses psychological traits suited to leadership. It has nothing to do with intelligence, and women in relationships with dominant men CHOOSE their status based on what they find preferable and efficient. Marriage only ever "should" be what two people decide, politically correct or not.
