Wipeout 2097 is simply an expansion of Wipeout XL with additional tracks, and 2097 has several shortcuts not possible in WIpeout XL. Also, Wipeout XL is easy to find in NTSC, where as I think Wipeout 2097 is only in PAL format...

@000Chill000 actually they are the same game, with slightly different physics for the ships. The shortcuts are almost identical, but the pal versions are easier.
