  • EXCELLENT TRACK; EXCELLENT LP...and that Voice is Outstanding!!

  • Wow! I havent heard this song since it was a hit!!! BEAUTIFUL!!

  • Aha...I have empty nest syndrome....this song came to me today,,,Couldn't remember all the words..but had to hear it.....looked it up...still sounds great...still rocks...still uplifts

  • One of the COLDEST jams of all time, period..end of discussion. That conga, in the background, is crack-a-lackin' like a muthafukka. Brings back great memories of growing up in Northwest, DC. LOVE this song!!!!.....makes you feel "mighty real".

  • This lead singer sounds a lot like Lenny Williams.

  • omg how i looooooooooove this song! they play it on 98.7kissfm but not often at all, took a long time for me to find this song ... and it gave me goosebumps, that's when i know i came across a GREAT SONG!!! Only music does that to me ...

  • This is great, I have the album :)

  • My mother had this song and I wore it out, listening to it over and over.

  • So smooth so moving. Very well orchastrated.

  • Disco killed most of the groups of this caliber back in the day. It's a shame that the happened, who knows where the music would have gone to?

Now we have some talented people, but very little musicianship, or individual styles to choose from. It's all so damn generic!

  • i remember growing up in bmore and everybody was playing this

  • Beautiful .Thats what music is all about.

  • Such a great feeling finding these songs that give goose bumps...So indebted to you Thanks

  • THANK YOU

  • Thank you so much for posting this song!!!! What a great throwback...

  • great memories.....thanks for the upload!!

  • this is such a "feel good" cut......Love it!

  • Oh what a lovely wonderful song...takes me back to 1977 in Yuma Arizona...God bless You Tube and it's posters!

  • Play on, Playa!

  • I could be mistaken but don't they use a synthesizer and say "POCKETS" in the background....well at it least it does to me.....loved it when I first heard it and still love it to this day and beyond......

  • why bad band???

    its a good song!

  • say every body this is pearly pearl just getting stared on this site but i need help on how you down load your sound to the pc., it's seem's like you all are enjoy these sound's and iwant to be down

  • Damm!

  • 1977 was a Specially Enjoyable SOUL MUSIC YEAR / out came POCKETS / But also OUT came Frankie Beverly & MAZE and the REST IS HISTORY / I Also remember almost every Spring during the 1970's The ISLEY BRO's would come out with an Album that everybody would enjoy Throughout The Summer / "FIGHT GHE POWER" / "GO FOR YOUR GUNS" / " SUMMER BREEZE" / "FOOTSTEPS IN THE DARK" / " VOYAGE TO ATLANTIS " / "IT'S A DISCO NIGHT" / "FOR THE LOVE OF YOU"

  • There was this one field trip I went to as a young boy, and the bus driver was playing this song coming across the Golden Gate bridge heading back into the city. I caught myself nodding my head to the rhythm of the song, and for some reason I glanced at the bus driver's reflection on his rear view mirror. He was looking at me and then he smiled, kinda chuckled, like he was proud this little kid in the school bus was feeling the soul vibe. Truth be told. I wanted an afro when I was a kid. Lol.

  • Another great one!!!!

  • Lord Have MERCY We Don't Hear This Type Of REAL Music These Days & It's A SHAME!!! Listen to the Horn, String Arrangement & Rhythm Section... Man, thanks for posting this!...

I was 12 years going around (Harlem) at that age singing lead with a band with 3 background singers (2 girls 1 guy) As I went on, they got another singer by the name "Keith Sweat" and the rest id history!!!

  • Great memories from '77. I believe Maurice White of EW&F actually helped them to get their first record deal. Shame they didn't continue.

  • @Diggby62 I think you're right. Maurice White did put this group out there. I still have this album. This was one song that would make you get up and dance whether you wanted to or not. Nobody in the club was seated while this joint was playing! LOL!

  • shit hot! back n da day!

  • Thanks for the memory. Couldn't find it for a long time till I put the word "everybody" in front of "come go with me". LOL. saved it to my playlist. XOXOXOXOXOO

  • @GoGirlTaxicab You're Welcome!

  • I bought it!

  • Nice inspiring song from the 70s.

  • Now this is a tune

  • I loved this jam as a kid when it first came out in '77

  • This post is wonderful, I graduated in 1977, we grooved on this song, as a matter of fact, I am now grooving in my seat at work. "Party over here, party over there, where the party at?" There is only one place where there is no despair, Either at the party back in the day or in the hereafter in heaven. Let's all go..

  • Broke this song in the UK when we played it on Radio Invicta 92.4FM, still have original album

  • THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS MY MY MY MY GOD!!!!!

  • Thanks Leon.... My boyfriend absolutely loves this song, but he could not for the life of him remember much of it..but I got it out of him..lol..and told him Leon's page is where you want to go.. Also, thanks for letting me attach my Pockets videos

  • @MultiplicityMe2 No Problem Sis!

  • I just told my girlfriend about the message of this song!! I told her people were probably having a ball with song and missed the whole message!!! Beautiful classic no doubt!!! thank you for posting!!!!

  • @dimeboss65 You're Welcome!

  • Pockets were produced by Verdine of Earth Wind and Fire if I remember correctly.

  • Love this!!!!

  • i hear this every Fridays on 90.9 FM in Houston...The dj plays this everytimes her show starts!!

  • @ramosfamilyhouston I also heard on 90.9 KTSU. They play the best 70's and 80's music in the country on the weekends. I hadn't heard this song in years and when I heard it again I realized how much I liked it. Now looking for it on Amazon.

  • If you have a good ear for music you can hear the Depth of this song , the horns , bass, strings , guitar , keyboards .... it's one of those rare songs that didn't reach commercial success, as half as creative songs, but was as boo boo kicking as any ... and the singing was crazy too .

  • Nobody , NOBODY can say this music didn't have more DEPTH , Creativity , Originality than the contrived bullshit now . I'm not particular into " inspirational songs " but just might play this mofo Again .

I came here by Michael Henderson , Chic , Norma Jean ...

  • Another jam from back in the day. Don't really hear it on radio anymore but thank goodness for YouTube!

  • I didn't know they did this but remember and liked ithis song. Somehow the name "The Pockets' hadn't stuck in my mind. Real nice and talented group of musicians.

  • OMG, thank you for this upload! I've been guessing at the title for the longest...couldn't remember who made the song. This is my shit from back in the days. Thanks again!

  • This was the JAMMMM !!!! Back in the day! They open up for EWF @ Madison Square Garden in NYC !!! Where can we get this? I lost my copy over the years.

  • In Grattitude played the hell out this tune last week in Annapolis, Rams Head On Stage---you talk about goose pimples!!!

  • omg one of my all time favorites. I heard it on the radio yesterday and now I am trying to find it on amazon as a mp3 so far no luck. anyone know where I can find it as a mp3 download?

  • Fondest memory ..went to a brother's house, then some more people came over. We had a party and was jamming off this song ,which has just came out. People were talking about that party the next day! Mad because they missed it !!! WE had a good time! Awww the good ole days!

  • How is it possible to have 2 dislikes to this??? I feel sad for this generation because they have crap for music.

  • Larry Jacobs on Lead..

  • I just heard this one on 98.7 Kiss FM. They play lots of good classics on Sundays. NYC is still the best city in the world for real music although you have to sometimes dig deep for gems like this.

  • @spinradiofm That would be Rhythm Review w/ Felix Hernandez- it is one of the best shows on the dial. You might also want to check out Roots NYC Fridays 10-midnight, Rare Radio on WBAI 99.5 (every few months when they can get the crew together), and of course, the legendary Hal Jackson on WBLS Sundays, I think from 3-6PM now

  • I AM 25 YEARS OLD & I LOVE OLD SCHOOL MUSIC IT ROCKS

  • i was in florida in 1977 when i first heard this jam i was in fort lauderdale just chillin living that beautiful life because i was a good dancer. i used to play this all the time in 1978 when my daughter was born she used to dance to this song all the time. i remember they had a kids talent show and my daughter and her cousins when on stage and she sang lead and the rest was back ground singers man she killed that shit and they won first place and we went to zayre's to spend that money lmao

  • WHO WROTE THIS AMAZING SONG?

  • January 14, 1978. The memory is so vivid. I was 9 months pregnant at my baby shower. The floor was packed with dancers at my house in Baxter Terrace! My baby boy came 6 days later. This song tore the project roof off! It was more like a party than a baby shower. Good clean fun. Nowadays you cannot enjoy house celebrations without DRAMA

  • i love the beat of this song

  • My dad was in this group! He's Kevin Barnes the guy to the far left, middle row of the picture. He was really young when he was with the Pockets but he tells me all types of stories about when he was on tour. He still plays to this day, it's always good to hear him play this song. We live in Los Angeles now, I really think the Pockets should be featured on that show called Unsung on TVone.

  • @thatgirlyouwant2010 I agree, they should be. This song came out when I started 9th grade, love this song!

  • @thatgirlyouwant2010 I am going to request them! I love this song!!! I remember when it came out in 1978. My girlfriend seen them at Madison square garden in New York City. they open for Earth wind & fire .She was raving about them!

  • Uplifting!!....LOVE IT :)

  • Wow! I remember them coming to Seattle along with Denise Williams. I met them at Tower Records, got all of their autographs (which I still have). I acted like I was going to leave with them and they invited me into their limo! How sweet of them to humor a youngin' :-) Great music, great memories!

  • @921lisa I WAS AT THAT CONCERT!

  • Such an amazing track, serious groove, uplifting vibe and sweet vocals. I love this soooooo much!!

  • Their debut album (remember those?) was produced by Verdine White and Robert White (no relation) and they opened for EWF and Deniece Williams (not the Emotions) on the incredible 1977 "All 'N All" tour (the one where EWF opened the show by appearing out of tubes that descended from the ceiling).

  • I remember when they were Charlie Co and (I think) the Martells back in Bmore. They were all great musicians... Charlie (on trumpet) and that brass section was exceptional

  • There will never be music made like this ever again, people danced the soles off their shoes on this song in the clubs

  • We saw them open for EWF , but the Emotions weren't there. A young Deniece Williams was also in the show. Wasn't Verdine White with Pockets, at that time?

It was the first Concert I ever went to....must've been the same tour, we all saw...This song stood out, the most with them.....

  • @woodallaj Its just that....great observation.

  • can't believe i forgot about this song. this was one of my favorite songs back in high school. couldn't afford to buy the album so the 45 version got used and abused.

  • I feel a longing for bathing this sound every morning when I was a sugar babe.

  • "Disco church" music. Hear that tamborine! I loved this song... still do! I have the album on LP (vynil). They (the Pockets) make all of TWO albums, but you can get them both released on one CD as a "Best-Of" compilation. This song, as well as "One Day At A Time"... M-E-M-O-R-I-E-S !!!

  • Thank you for posting this song. People went wild at parties when this song was played!

  • This was a great early evening warm up song it always got the crowd going, it had a great build up and great percussion, a real crowd pleaser, thanks..

  • I was lucky to see them open for Earth, Wind and Fire and The Emotions at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles way back in the day.

30 years later I can honestly say it's still in the top five best concerts I've attended and I've been to hundreds.

  • You are one heckuva lucky fella; must have been off the chain!

  • I remember going to the same show when they came up to Oakland at the Oakland Coliseum, in 1979. That's when the price a ticket to see concerts was...$12.00. Hard to believe, but true.

  • Wow, Your memory is far better than mine these days. I do remember going to the show with my girlfriend at the time, Sheila and her friend in my '72 Pontiac LeMans. I ran into Sheila recently. She's divorced with 6 kids....... Boy I miss that car!

  • 6?!!! Aren't you the lucky one? I miss my Mustang, too.
