Carl Sagan and Vangelis simply lift us into a new dimension! It breaks my heart yet simultaneously gives courage to continue working for a lovelier future
Here I am a grown man and I break into tears every time I hear this song. It encompasses all of my hopes and aspirations for humanity, that we choose life and reach for the stars.
this song always makes me cry... especially because I was only four when Iwatched this series and I was with all my family, now my dad is dead, my brothers are far away...and Carl Sagan is dead too. So emotional
@soulerflare7 Well, soul..., not all of us have the same beliefs (which sad fact has caused much of the tragic bloodshed in our world's history), but this Vangelis theme does touch us down to our souls. I am not a formally religious person, but I do believe that there is something greater than myself. This should not be important to you, only to me. Let us share our appreciation of "Cosmos" and of Vangelis.
@ja3399 I believe I was sharing my appreciation for the Cosmos theme. If this song makes me think of the creator of the universe then so be it. God is AWESOME !!!!!!
I feel bad for him not being Immortal, as James Randi said whilst talking about Sagan in a "vlog lookalike" he said that, if there was a life after death, he knew that sagan was flying about in the universe getting to know everything thatt he didn't know when he left our unknowing world. The respect i harbour for Sagan is immense. If there is a person who diserves immortality, it's Sagan.
Simply amazing music. True story: I was about four when Cosmos was at the height of its popularity and one day announced to my mother that I was going to be Dr. Carl Sagan when I grew up. She wrote him a letter sharing the story and got a personal response and a picture of the solar system in return. The letter said he looked forward to seeing me at Cornell in about 15 years. It's one of my most prized possessions.
@cephalapodia Yeah! Me too.. The other day, when i was coming home from work, on the bus, i listened to this song and at 00:45 i closed my eyes lool it's such an inspiring song!
This song, really transports you to the Universe... I don't know, sometimes, after a joint, i sit down, on the dark, hearing this song, and letting the mind go to wherever it wants in the Universe, and everything goes so quick, the journey is immense... it's such a humble feeling... Thinking about how small we are.... and how that makes us special! We're like atoms in the Universe, the galaxies are the molecules, and the rest, a vast living Organism!!! Long live Music and Life! Peace to you all!
Carl Sagan is amazing, imortalised in his works; his books and Cosmos series and other video records made, he's truly a teacher for all the human kind and the billions and billions of people to come. His message and ideas should be wide spread and we must never fall in the trap of ignorance and never let the world fall in a dark age
Whenever I hear this song, a knot is done to me in the throat, it me comes to my mind nice recollections of my infancy contemplating the universe, in company of our dear teacher Carl Sagan, where you want that this we will remember you forever, regards Carl a strong embrace, I wait to meet some day where the time is not an obstacle
Carl Sagan was an amazing man, and he did something that no one else did. He explained the way the world and the universe and all of nature works in a way that everyone could understand. Carl Sagan was a great man and i love his work.
I have never heard that part before 0:34 - I had the cassette and the part beforehand was not on the soundtrack. I was in 7th grade when this series was on, loved everything about it including the music. Thanks for posting!
I didn't even know Carl's name until ten years after his death, but he has touched my life, and the lives of many others. Billions and billions of others.
Why is it that every time I hear this song, ever since I was 8 years old and now 34, I still have the very same feeling I am getting closer to something far greater than myself. And, not to mention, I was a child in Mexico and ,unbeknownst, I would ever go to Purde.
@Budzi08 It coincides with the national "smoke weed" day (4/20). Sagan was known to have smoked pot when writing some of his essays. But I assure you, this was completely accidental! =]
whenever i hear this song i feel like im at peace...............(sigh) R.I.P carl sagan, may u now fly forever and see the universe for yourself...........
One of the finest series to come on television,And a superb tune to boot.
