@GorterPoss id hazzard a guess and say space and payload restrictions, then again, it could be a whole diffrent reason, but by the looks of things, they were small and cramped
@Bada241 Exactly. We should be solving our world's problems, not creating them. Just imagine how far the human race would be if we had settled all these petty squabbles years ago.
a really beautiful theme for a great movie, a tribute to what we are able to achieve!
@Bada241 as the other comments said, those are great words, really deep, impressive and, most sadly, pretty true ones, too. May we learn from our mistakes...
The great space race; forged in a time of crisis and possible war, forged the greatest thing in history between all nations. Leaving our home world, and also acknowledging we're not the only ones.
@SgtMustang Unfortunately, I can't agree more. We just don't have the drive to innovate and succeed like we used to. It's sad that it's this way, but I'm glad that I was at least around to see part of the space program before it was shut down. I will never forget seeing that final shuttle launch.
When I heard the news on the radio, and heard that CERN has discovered a faster-than-light neutrino particle, that space on these pictures started to look a little smaller than before. No doubt that we will make another step soon to see what is out there... It will take a lot of time to reach our dreams, but now we at least have a glimpse of hope now, as some other great actor in another movie has said:"Small moves..." Beautiful song really fits the screen!
I dont know why, but this theme makes me feel sad. I think its because the apollo program is over. and i would really like the be there when a saturn V took of on its journy
LOL, nice to hear without Walter's voiceover, good though that was...I'm not a musicologist but is there a nod to Copeland, and more distantly, Sibelius? Also Nino Rota. Like I say I'm not an expert.
How can you not like this theme. Its the thing that reminds me most about the brave people who went into space and lost there lives! Stupid 6 dislikers!
@MrDrewoden and if you dont live to that day?so far you have been living on earth. you should thanksful of earth, unless you want to leave now and go to NOWHERE. Live without living. Die without dieing.
@superdahoho I'm not trying to be insulting to any president. I'm just saying if Kennedy could find the time, the budget, and the interest to do it, I'm sure other presidents could too. I think its mostly that a long time has passed, and a lot of people (sadly) have lost interest, and might not even realize that NASA's not really sending people to the moon, or to space anymore. In fact, I've been hearing that in November they're having their last launch. Not sure if this is true or not.
Apollo 13 "I look up at the Moon and wonder, when will we be going back, and who will that be"
It's just tragic to see the shuttle program end without a new program to take its place, to see the indifference for space flight displayed by this administration and worst of all to grow up in a society which seems to have no interest in exploration. It seems that people think space flight is a unnecessary luxury. Sometimes i don't think i will see man returning to the moon in my life time (at age 21
@Flerndw2222 Thought I would like to see man go back to the moon. The sad truth is that we only went to inspire a nation. Going to the moon proved one thing. This IS our home and we aren't going to anywhere else.
Be comforted with the knowledge that the 12 men that walked on the moon were from the USA.
I think the future of Space Exploration will not be in one country leading but I think the world will have to work together becuase of how much it costs and it will be easier that way
To this day, I'm still beside myself how, in 1996, the movie Babe could beat Apollo 13 for best visual effects. I could never take the Academy Awards seriously again after that.

bravo for not falling into the trend of "evolutionist theories", God does know them all by name, and I can only wonder how many planets he has created and just how much more spectacular they can be compared to our own planetary system.
@darkpyro118 i recently went to the Kennedy space center down in florida and it really shows how amazing our program is and how hard and how dedicated those people were to get into space. Really an amazing thing that people seem to not care about. We need to further explore space we have only cracked the surface on space exploration and discoveries and we arent doin anymore shuttle lauches...saddens me
@kirkesregroso shut up and get out of here. Go rant on a conspiracy video but not this video. 100% of the people here either believe or want to go in space. Don't comment anything like that here thats very rude.

2:44 It's sad to think that those no longer exist.
Amazing, though, that what is in these images is only a tiny fraction of what is actually there. We only see a small percentage of the whole spectrum, and can only detect only form of radiation with our natural senses (photons).
You really have to think how amazing it was to be able to save apollo 13 and all the things that went wrong the 'successful failure' as it was called along with all the mysteries of space.
When you look at this video, all of our problems seem really petty and small. Even the recession doesn't seem that big of a deal. Great to get this kind of perspective. Thank you!
I saw how Kranz used the Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich too jasonvn02. SPA and mastermind and obviously step 1 and 2 covered. Awesome to see him use the natural process of goal achievement without even realizing it.
Seriously, Apollo 13 has got to rank up there among the most inspirational movies of all time.

It shows you the natural process of goal achievement and after you read it, go back and watch this movie and you'll see exactly how Kranz and his team at NASA used it to naturally achieve their goal of bringing back the crew of Apollo 13.
I can't wait for a president who actually decides to do something with our amazing space program. If we end up getting to mars, or maybe even further, I will be a happy man!
@darkpyro118 We'll Have to wait. Obama is about to cancel the Constellation program. So as it is now, the moon will remain as it did during the creation of well.. everything.
@ScottZirpolo Yeah, I know it'll happen, I just don't want to miss it. The program had prime timing for me to be a part of it. Oh, well, I'll just have to wait and see.
@darkpyro118 The Constellation program's goal was to go back to the Moon and use that as a platform for research to go deeper in to space...but Obama put an end to that one.
@HappyFoxIsHappy what I don't understand is that we've spend trillions on bailouts.. yet we can't afford 3 billion for NASA. They give back more than they get for crying out loud!
@EndeavourLaunch Son our senators and apparently our presidents only have one thing in mind not only in mind but i wallet ,that is war . War is the only thing they will agree on and spend on trillions of dollars which could be going to the NASA fundings . In other words ignorance before educated minds.
@darkpyro118 were going it's just a matter of when, and who hopefully it's the US but it's in man's DNA and especially in the DNA of america is exploring, that is why we are such as civilization and science.
@darkpyro118 Sorry if I (a Canadian) insults anyone here; however, did everyone notice how ironic it was that President Obama talked about “a Sputnik moment" in his State of the Union Speech? (Mr. Obama being the one that has destroyed the US space leadership for decades by cancelling Ares and a trip to Mars.)
@mikefastener No...he cut those programs because they were damn expensive. And the "Sputnik moment" he referred to was not exploring space and beating others to it...we are no longer in the space race. He was talking about responding extraordinarily to the challenges of other nations and releasing a wave of innovation in our education systems especially in science and math...exactly what happened with the Russians except were not competing to get into space anymore.
you know, there's this rumor...that we actually met aliens on the moon, they they warned us not to go up there. that's why we've never launched anyone to space for the past 30 years...who knows
I say cut the black man or any president a break. it ain't easy
man there is so much space to explore man has only set foot on the moon and we have not really yet ventured man to mars we really need to come together as a race stop war bring global peace and set aims to explore deeper space because as we know space is our future we cannot live here on our beautiful planet forever and think what amazing beautiful and wonderous things we will find out there
i wish we find aliens ^^ and i mean on mars or other planet that we can reach in the next years and WHO says that aliens are with ufos? they could be like in stone time or same or in the 1500 times who knows?
i have seen the movie today on TV...dman i watched the movie 1000 times but that story still fascinates me like in the days as i was a little boy and watched it in the theatre
Why didn't they build more redundancy into the command module? How hard would it have been to put in another fuel cell?

I can't wait for a president who actually decides to do something with our amazing space program. If we end up getting to mars, or maybe even further, I will be a happy man!
darkpyro118 2 years ago 84
@darkpyro118 We'll Have to wait. Obama is about to cancel the Constellation program. So as it is now, the moon will remain as it did during the creation of well.. everything.

Leaders have slowed progress before....we'll go back eventually :)
cwsault 2 years ago 4
Plus a few footprints and flags, mind you. ;)
People already said this, but it will happen someday. It's the natural progression of things. Mars will follow, and so will the rest.
ScottZirpolo 2 years ago
@ScottZirpolo Yeah, I know it'll happen, I just don't want to miss it. The program had prime timing for me to be a part of it. Oh, well, I'll just have to wait and see.
petik96 2 years ago
@darkpyro118 The Constellation program's goal was to go back to the Moon and use that as a platform for research to go deeper in to space...but Obama put an end to that one.

Ditto, but with this huge budget deficit, I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.
HappyFoxIsHappy 1 year ago
@HappyFoxIsHappy what I don't understand is that we've spend trillions on bailouts.. yet we can't afford 3 billion for NASA. They give back more than they get for crying out loud!
EndeavourLaunch 1 year ago
@EndeavourLaunch Son our senators and apparently our presidents only have one thing in mind not only in mind but i wallet ,that is war . War is the only thing they will agree on and spend on trillions of dollars which could be going to the NASA fundings . In other words ignorance before educated minds.

@darkpyro118 were going it's just a matter of when, and who hopefully it's the US but it's in man's DNA and especially in the DNA of america is exploring, that is why we are such as civilization and science.
brandtaylor93 1 year ago
@darkpyro118 Sorry if I (a Canadian) insults anyone here; however, did everyone notice how ironic it was that President Obama talked about “a Sputnik moment" in his State of the Union Speech? (Mr. Obama being the one that has destroyed the US space leadership for decades by cancelling Ares and a trip to Mars.)
mikefastener 1 year ago
@mikefastener No...he cut those programs because they were damn expensive. And the "Sputnik moment" he referred to was not exploring space and beating others to it...we are no longer in the space race. He was talking about responding extraordinarily to the challenges of other nations and releasing a wave of innovation in our education systems especially in science and math...exactly what happened with the Russians except were not competing to get into space anymore.
shabissen 1 year ago
@shabissen Sadly, President Obama cut those programs for political reasons!
The US needs the space program (why is India and China getting into it?).
Obama is no Kennedy. When will American be great again?
Just asking....

@darkpyro118
you know, there's this rumor...that we actually met aliens on the moon, they they warned us not to go up there. that's why we've never launched anyone to space for the past 30 years...who knows
I say cut the black man or any president a break. it ain't easy

man there is so much space to explore man has only set foot on the moon and we have not really yet ventured man to mars we really need to come together as a race stop war bring global peace and set aims to explore deeper space because as we know space is our future we cannot live here on our beautiful planet forever and think what amazing beautiful and wonderous things we will find out there
Cozzi0 2 years ago 8
i wish we find aliens ^^ and i mean on mars or other planet that we can reach in the next years and WHO says that aliens are with ufos? they could be like in stone time or same or in the 1500 times who knows?

this also can fit into saving privite ryan
xgmb45 2 years ago
I was thinking the same thing. although saving private ryan already has its own cool score.
Why is that movies that tom hanks is in always have such moving music? Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump...
