Thats my laptops little brother =D. I got an Acer Aspire 8730 (1680x945).

I overclock with PowerStrip and Nvidia Performance.

It works great for Korean/American/Canadian/Europ­ean games.

Japanese games (CPU hogs like FFXIV) will still benefit but not by much.

I'd benchmark but if I have time I usually spend it gaming =).

I can say if you do it properly and safely (so that your driver doesn't tank on you), you can get atleast a 66% increase in FPS on GPU heavy games

the BenchMark is lying. run fraps and play in single player drive, run, destroy etc' and you will see your fps, cause i was in my friend's home and he run benchmark in gta iv and it was 50.1Fps, but when i run fraps and payed single player, it was over 30Fps 25Fps..

whats the max on the frequencies of the card, i had to overclock for bad company 2 and i put my core at 550, memory at 450 and shader at 1275, then up them to 600, 500 and 1300 respectively and the game ran worse, so what's the max or settings for best performance.

well i have the acer 7730 with the 512 mb ddr3 9600gt and 2.0 ghz p7350 dual core, and with the same settings and no oc, i got 17fps. i see that u have the t9400 dual core 2.53ghz (way better than mine) and u get only 12 fps.... how?

Because on this vid I was using stock vista 32bit, it's an old 1.0.3 version of gta4 and I was using stock forceware. Now I use win7 x64, DOX's forceware and gta4 v 1.0.0.4, it runs much faster ;)

hello, I've got some questions about OC'ing the graphics.

At first: I didn't do that ever! Don't know how to do it.

Second, it says "I'll lose my warranty" - I mean yeah but how can they proof it if something gets damaged while playing a game ?

In GTA it isn't that important to have a fast gpu, the cpu is more important. What CPU do you have ? I've got currently a P8400 with 2,26Ghz. I'm thinking about replacing with a 2,8ghz or faster or c2q. where can I get a cheap one(in Germany)?

you won't lose warranty, as you aren't doing any changes to BIOS (with this method). I have t9400 2.53Ghz 6MB cache 1066 FSB. I don't know where to get a faster cpu in Germany, as I live in Poland :p you have to ask someone from germany! I suggest ebay ;)

Yep, you can try. 9700M GT is a factory overclocked version of 9600M GT and I can push my 9600M GT to higher clocks than 9700M GT has.

Have you run into the blackscreen/sound loop problem overclocking your 9600m gt? On both 9600m's i have OCed games will do that when it is anywhere near 600mhz. It also seems like it is more common in some games than others.

Use Nvidia System Tools 6.05 from Nvidia.. It works! Good Luck! im using 9600m gt ddr2 version as well which is quite slow compared to gddr3 version..

I'm look at getting that Acer Laptop (Acer Aspire 6930 Gemstone to be precise) and the Graphics card with is is the same but with 1GIG of memory on it. Would that improve the framerate at all or would it all be down to the processor at that point?

Well not exactly the same...

9600m gt 1GB is DDR2 that's the BIG difference, you'd better go for 512DDR3 :)

With 1GB ddr2 you can set higher res, but with 512 ddr3 higher details.

Sure u can play gta4 on 7730g, your card is ddr2 I suppose and a bit slower cpu, but medium settings, 720p with some oc and smooth graphics granted :)
