  • Bob: "Hey guys, we got an hour, a camera, and a full tank of diesel. Let's prove that magazines aren't designed to be run over by a pickup!"

    Bob2:"Hell, yeah!"

  • Great video. Too bad for me that my Stag lower's bolt catch "finger" is too short to engage the follower on PMags (so they don't hold the bolt back after the last round).

  • No offence, but I'm perfectly happy with my mil-spec aluminum. Why fix what ain't broke.

  • at 1:17 thats what happens to my mag for my ar 15 so i dont know what to do with it a just got it with my gun today i dont know it it will work going to shoot it soon

  • I love pmags......I have several dozen. That being said, I would like to see this test done in below freezing temperatures. That is a pmag's weak point. When that plastic gets that hold, it does bring in the possibility of cracking.

  • You guys have way to much time on you're hands.----lol have fun making more it was fun watching and infomatable keep up the good work..

    Clayton

  • tHANKS...THIS WAS ALOT OF HELP...GREAT VIDEO!

  • I think for civilian use PMAGs are kinda unnecessary, unless you shoot on a highway and lost track of your mags. In combat however, **** happens and a broken mag will cost you.

  • If they were super expensive, they might just BE overkill for civies. But since they're the same price as the el cheapo mags, PMAGs for fun and plinkin' are a no-brainer.

  • Emags r not made 4 m4/ar platform! There made 4 europian gunz like hk 416 , SCAR, and last but not least IMI! Tha magcatch is lower so it engadges on those types of gunz! Magpul does not recoment usein Emagz wit m4/ar/m16 platforms!

  • Just in case you're dumb enough to leave your mags on the driveway and forget about them

  • Be careful of the new pmag......they are weaker than the old one

  • @aaadream What area? Have you had one break yet?

  • @RackEmPunk Yeah the new ones crack easier and I contacted Magpul about it and they gave me the God attitude and a bunch of Bull.

  • Personally I prefer 'emags' and lancers to pmags because they fit into pouches better.

  • i am new in the ar field i just bought a stag arms model 6 and its a varmint gun so do yu think this will be ok for a varmint ar

  • @jigglejack100 Magpul makes a 20 round mag that doesn't "monopod" on an AR like the 30 round mags do.

Twenty rounders would be my choice for use with a bipod or rifle rest on a bench..

  • @jigglejack100 You can't go wrong with P-Mags, 20 or 30-rounders. If you need to see your round count go with the windowed version for a few extra bucks. In my opinion there is no better mag out there for the money. The military even used them now. If they are willing to bet their lives on it then it's good enough for me.

  • @jigglejack100 These are the best choice for any ar you have. But if you going to be shooting prone, magpul also sells 20 rnd pmags. They look kinda cool 2 but i just use the 30 rounders. and enjoy the baby and clean it good. ars ar fun guns!

  • Dont let this video deceive you, as much as i love pmags(i own 2) I had one mag fail to engage in the magwell(meaning the magazine would not stay in the gun). It was a windowless regular black pmag and I believe it was because of the weight of the ammo. I've had no problems with the black stanag mags, thermold mags, and the windowed pmags. I will be getting more windowed pmags in the future. I would like to see the people who made this video test out those easymags.

  • @coldfire2227 What lower are you using?

Some manufacturers will tell you their lowers are "mil spec," but get out the calipers and they don't measure out that way.

  • @RackEmPunk Its actually a Stag Arms Model 3

  • @coldfire2227 Did you try your mags in another lower?

MAGPUL will certainly replace your mags if they're defective in any way.

  • @RollerCam no I have access to only one lower, and im thinking about sending the magazine back.

  • shoot out of the p mag now

  • You should add a test of those supposedly supreme H&K mags.

  • They're certainly supreme in the price department.

  • And in the weight department

  • WHAT?

  • @RollerCam Hahaha no doubt, 40 bucks for a 30 round mag is retarded.

  • @nowthisisstupid you can order directly from magpul. $15 for the standard w/dustcover and 18 for the maglevel (windowed) Pmag w/dust cover.

  • were you holding the bolt release button or was the mag just not catching the bolt hold open lever thing?

  • I wish Magpul would mag a mag for the .308 Saiga.

  • My only concern is the feed lips - constant pressure and wear from rounds... In theory - PMAGs are great, but I want to see more of a long term functionality reviews. There's a reason Glock mags have metal lined feed lips.

  • The top cover on Pmags will contain the feed lips in long term, loaded storage. That's a great feature.

I've always considered magazines to be an expendable or consumable item. Even the metal ones.

Try to get a copy of the recent Shotgun news mag test. There are other good choices for AR-style magazines besides Pmags...

  • You can take a look at the Lancer L5 magazines. They are tough flexible polymer with metal feed lips.

  • That's why they include a dust cover, which pushes the first round down off the feed lips, and provides a little inward pressure to the lips, as well.

  • Had my PMAGs for over 2 years now with 12 months of that in the desert under combat conditions with no top covers and they all preform just fine. I haven't had any problems and I shoot quite a bit.

  • Is it a bad idea to run Sig 556 mags through an AR?..does the follower tilt?..do they seat properly?..do the cause jams?..are they durable enough?

  • Since they're built to the very same specs and are completely interchangeable, I sure can't see any problem.

Check out the AR magazine test in a recent issue of Shotgun news. Good stuff by David Fortier.

  • i dont know..the cool thing about them is that they can clip together, but I've heard a lot of people say their sig mags are garbage..i've heard good reviews about pmags too, but i've found that even they can't stand up to some extreme torture tests..still though many regard them better then the steel ones.

  • it amazes me that these polymer magazines are so damn strong. very helpful review. and to the people saying that when in combat will your magazines get run over by a pickup, that's not the point, it's a durability/strength test.

  • They get the highest recommendation from Pete Kokalis, weapons expert from SOF magazine and Shotgun News.

I'd go for the window version. It's actually useful.

  • So basically the Pmag is a fuckin' sick beast.

I know this test isn't super-scientific, but the Pmag took nothing more than asthetic damage while the others are blow to smithereens.

I got my first AR-15 today at the valley forge gun show! (EEEE!!!) I need some mags. I'm gonna research the pmag some more but if I don't find anything inheritly wrong with it, I'm gonna order up some of these.

    So thanks for the video.

  • what type of ar did you get

  • Rock River Arms, Entry Tactical. The Pmags seem to work fine in them. I like em.

  • PMAGS!! easily the best out there, i own mostly usgi mags..theyre functional..yet more expensive than the pmags..

  • i mailed my friend 10 of these in iraq, hope they let him use them lol. he said they were stuck with 1980's steel magazines that didnt just bend, they cracked.

  • Good magazine if your receiver is exactly in spec. Modified mag release didn't help, double feed issues. They won't run in either my Oly Arms MFR or S&W, but run fine in the two generic lowers I built. I verified this issue with magpul.

  • Wow, 2:22 very impressive. I'm sold. I mean I hear they're vanishing off shelves, but I'm gonna try to get my hands on some. For un-"scientific" that was actually a really cool test. Sure makes a point.

  • Most vendors don't seem to be price gouging on them... I'd love to know how many units MagPul has pumped out over thew past two years. It'd probably bring a tear to the eye of our new "Groid in Chief." :)HA HA!

  • Yea these are really great magazines. Glad I saw this panic buying probably two years ago and started back then! I got a whole pile of these ( JUST GOTTA RUB IT IN!!! IDIOTS! ) OH YEA NOT ONLY THAT, WHEN A NEW SHIPMENT COMES TO MY LOCAL VENDOR, I'M GOING TO BUY THEM OUT AGAIN JUST TO PISS THE IDIOTS OFF THAT THINKS IT WILL BE ALRIGHT TO "STOP IN LATER THIS WEEK" when he hears the local vendors got a shipment in!!!! Half these people prolly voted for the groid to boot!

  • thats alot of fcukin waste of magazine meyng! good video thou....

  • No, it wastes magazines to show you which one will function at the most crucial moment, when you need it..

  • crucial moment as in when the enemy runs over your magazines with his suv?

  • oh yeah, thats right "the most crucial momeent" for all those times i was in combat and my magazine got run over and grinded on by a pickup truck.... jackass

  • Did you use a different mag for each test if the mag failed?

  • I would have liked to have seen some rounds ejected after that. Great test though

  • My local dealer sells these for $13.99 a piece. Unbelieveable value and a rock solid product. Go MAGPUL! A Colorado company.

  • Oh no, the dude at the end dropped the mag!

  • I trust my life with PMAGs, its the only thing I carry in my tactical vest, and in my bail out bag in my cruiser. It is amazing how well they function.

  • because running over your mag with a pickup is a perfectly normal thing to happen in the field. No jk i get it. they do seem significantly more durable

  • It would be nice if they made for the mini 14/AR 15 in 223 and 6.8 rem.

  • chevy trucks rule!

  • Magpulls are the stuff! I might have to get a few of those. They cost more but like so many things, you get what you pay for.

  • the magpul mags are actually a really reasonable price imo.

  • How many perfectly defective mags did he destroy?

  • where do you guys work? you must have money commin out tha yinyang!

  • nice video, thanks!!!!

  • I have 6 of these and I have to say they are flawless. Now, I have not run over any buy I plan to try one soon. Great magazines.

  • That guy sounds like Ray Romano....

  • Finally, a useful video. great job!

  • where do i get one of those...?

  • oh damn...
