Man last time I was carrying a 4x8 sheet of OSB around I was thinking, this stuff just lets wind and rain right on through it! LOL.......Tyvek, the power of sales. Do you know what used to protect a house from wind a rain.....good siding. The petroleum products companies couldn't figure out how to make a petroleum based vinyl siding that would hold up and actually stop water, so they made this crap to go behind their worthless sidings, now ever dipshit wanna be builder thinks they need it!
Sounds like a good concept. Sadly, I've seen underneath the siding of houses that have had Tyvek used on them. Many of these house are about 10 years old. The Tyvek tears as easily as paper after all the time on the walls. Tough stuff to start and eventually fails miserably. The product is decent to protect the house during it's construction, preventing the ply boards from warpage. For long term durabilty it is not so great.
@hrwulf It's a family of products. You need to put the ROOF products on the ROOF, for best results. Or, for example, use SIDEing products on the SIDE. It's really not THAT difficult. Try to match up the part of the house to the product and you should be ok. If you have trouble with "s-i-d-e" or even "r-o-o-f", then you should ask your local Homo Depot General Manager for 'special' assistance. Good luck, and let us know how that's workin' out for ya, okay buddy ?
