If you guys don't know anything about Grinnell college, their coach wants them to get a shot off every 10 seconds . he subs 5 guys in at a time and they have like 10 national scoring titles. he wasn't being selfish, look at the tape they are all jumpers and cuts to the basket. he must be their best play so he's in the game alot. Plus the team they were playing did not look very good.

I went to a Division IV high school and saw my team play Wally Szczerbiak the year I graduated (1996), or maybe the year prior. He lit it up, but didn't exceed 50, and he went on to have a nice career. This Griffin kid is special.

There were certainly some shots that pretty much any basketball player would usually make because of horrible defense, but there were some hard earned points as well, as far as the number of shots, this isn't a video game where you hit all of your shots, if you can take 55 shots and hit over half (with a large amount of them being 3s) that's not bad, most people wouldn't be able to shoot at the backboard after that many shots

I just read an article on this guy and it said he took 55 shots. 55! I just counted and he made 28 of the 55. That's barely 50% and on top of that the defense was a joke. 89 is still absolutely AMAZING but I just feel like if you have a high scoring night like that you should be on fire. Like 60% or more from the field, not just barely over 50% That's just shooting a ton rather than being unstoppable to the defense.

89 is impressive no matter who you are playing. If I had a kid that scored 15 points early in a game, I would telling him to shoot as much as he could the rest of the game. I'm sure the coach recognized early that he was going to rack up on scoring. So, I am sure the coach ran plays around the player giving him opportunities to score. I commend the the athlete for putting on a show.
