I have just had the Fraxel Restore Laser for pores and there is definitely an improvement. I hope it's not just swelling. My face is red but it was very easy. I really want the Fraxel Repair Laser now. These lasers are brilliant.
Large pores are tricky. I am told my my colleagues and some patients that both the Restore and Repair can help with these. But sometimes I wonder .....
@geminigold617 BBL (broadband light) Photo Rejuvenation Facials are the only way I have ever been able to reduce to appearance of pore size on my face. After an acid peel I may see a slight reduction for a few days, but the BBL treatment lasts about 3 months or so. It makes your pores so small that you can barely see them. I am a 29 year old male with oily large pored skin, so making my skin look like satin was never expected.
I paid $720 CAD for one Fraxel (all I was willing to pay at the time.) Unfortunately it worked quite well (unfortunate because now I feel like a junkie who used "the good stuff" once but can't afford it anymore.)
Does it hurt? Yes. I sensed that the numbing cream did a lot, but it still burned and stung terribly. I get my teeth drilled sans anesthesia but I guess I suck with stinging pain.
What different eye protection things are there? I saw this on the TV and the doctor put some metal things under the eyelids. If I had to have the metal things under the eyelids I wouldn't do it.
Hello, do you know the Palomar non-ablative laser ? does not it give the same results of the the re-store Fraxel ? both are non ablative, with short downtime, but the Palomar is less expensive ! so why everybody wants the Fraxel !!
From your experience do you think really there is a big difference ?
Hello, can this help with large pores and tired looking skin, circles under the eyes. I am only 26 but want fresher looking skin. My derm has recommended laser skin rejunenation - but it only creates more collagen, thermascan laser. Can you recommend something please. Thanks
Historically, I have always said that I didn't believe that anything could help enlarged pores. However, my colleagues and my patients, are changing my mind on this. I think that several of the fractionated laser systems have demonstrated improvement in texture, tone, color, skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, and in the size of and appearance of the pores. I use the Fraxel Restore and Repair, and the Sciton Profractional device.
I am 6 days post-procedure for Fraxel Re:Pair to my face and neck. I had metal shields under my eyelids during the procedure, so I have no idea what my skin looked like during, but as soon as I was taken to a mirror, my face looked 100x worse than the person's in this video; I had blood and clear fluid oozing from nearly every pore! The worst of that lasted only 2 days, but I feel this video gives a distorted (biased?) view of the procedure. Were low setting used for video purposes?
No bias here. As stated on the video, this was a low energy treatment for superficial skin damage. I show much deeper laser treatments in other videos on this site. The essence of the message is that if you use more gentle parameters you will heal more quickly, but get less of a result. It sounds like you healed just fine.
Re:pair is Fractionated deep dermal ablation using a CO2 laser. The Re:store (Fraxel I/II) is non-ablative using a 1550nm wavelength. Deep dermal ablation does indeed cause some bleeding and downtime lasting from 2-5 days.

This dude helped design the device and was instrumental in adding cold air to the protocol. Pain is modest if appropriate techniques used.

Which laser was used? You will probably need to repeat the procedure with a small beam diameter true fractionated device such as the Repair or DeepFX

I would repeat the treatment with either the Restore or the Repair with appropriate scanning techniques, and AVOID bulk heating.
UCIrvineDerm 2 years ago
Explain bulk heating! The texture of the skin is still horrible, wrinkled and pitted.
edward7719 2 years ago
Not really possible to consult like this. You need to come on in and have a consultation in person.

you all are doing it on dry skin. I thought you neededto put that blue stuff on first. AHHHH!!!
CrystalAnnaBelle 2 years ago
Not necessary to use to blue dye any more.

I think they put metal covers under the eyelids if you want the skin around your eyes done since you can't wear the glasses type ones they have here.
Pretty sure there's no reason to use the metal covers unless you want the skin near the eye done.

True. I generally use LaserAid eye protection, unless I put in intraoccular metal eye shields.

Why would one want to protect the lips? Great target for rejuvenation!
