Just watched this film tonight. Really, genuinely scary. I am a fan of all the PA films, but this is really nothing like them, so put that out of your mind before you watch I would say. I know lots of people will see the video camera set up and 'the house might be haunted' and conclude it's the same - but it's not. I found it hard to watch in many places, and I love when films do that. Not through gore, or grotesque violence, but something that takes a bit more work and imagination.

@gnagtats question #1 It could possibly be a form of "outer body experience" type thing mixed with premonition and a literal vision Question #2 as a symbol of her leaving (dying), also maybe as a message to her parents, there could have been many different ways of finding that bag. Question #3 No, she only knew of her death, not how or when, just knew it was going to happen. Hope this helps :)

Definitely one of the better After Dark Films. I disagree. Paranormal Activity was awesome, but it was an 'in your face' movie. Lake Mungo was able to pull off the horror style while doing very little (ex. an image of her watching her brother's birthday, a tape of her sitting at her chair nonchalantly, ect.). It builds up like it's going to pop out and scare you, but then it doesn't... Creepy as hell. After all that build up, it left me jumping out of my seat at the very end!
U should get involved w/ the characters and story more.

this is one of the most thoughtful and unique film made in australia, joel anderson is a artist, writer director who should be given respect from the australian film industry for creating such a sublime movie experience.
Love the idea! Love the title - ask any Koori from Lake Mungo and they'll tell you there are ghosts there. Performances look great - what a challenging production this must have been. I'm really looking forward to seeing this film! How exciting. All the best to the team!

Great film,
The Twin Peaks homage is obvious, A girl called palmer, foreseeing her own death, found washed up. The sordid past and the diary etc..
However there are a lot more ideas involved than just the Lynch nod, loved the time travel twist with the mother at the end.
The mockumentary style allows for spooky as fuck realism.
Superbly acted too.
Watch it now, but prepare to feel very uncomfortable.

this is one of the most thoughtful and unique film made in australia, joel anderson is a artist, writer director who should be given respect from the australian film industry for creating such a sublime movie experience.

Love the idea! Love the title - ask any Koori from Lake Mungo and they'll tell you there are ghosts there. Performances look great - what a challenging production this must have been. I'm really looking forward to seeing this film! How exciting. All the best to the team!
