Crazy idea....not sure how you think higher temps under the hood lead to better fuel use.....I have a 97 4 door i kept it a little more simple and did a full Z24 front end swap.... But like i said....nice idea
@memyselfi2773 it is two fold, the first and most obvious is an aerodynamic advantage. the second is faster warmup times. you run in open loop until your engine reaches a certain temp (somewhere around 140-150F) until then it runs a fairly rich mixture just from a preprogramed map. after warmup, it goes into closed loop and actually uses the O2 sensor for feedback to keep you at a 14.7:1 air fuel mixture.
First I thank you for the video and secondly I would note that this work will lead to Artagaa heat of the engine, leading to major damage because you have to close the ventilation port of the car with the basic knowledge I hold to the idea that you have joined us by.
good work but its boaaring should have been more creativ and desighned something else to make look better rather then plaine boaring...but great wrk thow
The car with the new bumper style looks like somebody told it "shut the fu*k up" and zipped its mouth closed. Lol Doesnt look too bad just not my style. Props for the effort though!
looks great, where the license plate go? I don't know what resin jelly is, is it the normal fibreglass resin? i wana do body work on my bumper, just wondering if it'll work if i put fibreglass straight on the foam, or is it too porous?
i think it looks pretty good bro..i would have left the bottom side markers out too :P they really are not needed because the heads have turns in them...i have a cavalier too z24 get hated on all the time.check my vids if intersted..all in all nice work right now i am in the middle of building a body kit for my honda..just about have it done
@TheDegree777 you obviously didn't see the first 10 seconds of the video. right now I am running 188 degrees even on the 100+ degree days. on top of that, I am running a WAI and my intake temps are around the 150 degree mark.
for my efforst, I am seeing about a 40% increase in fuel efficiency over the EPA rating for this car (and around 500 miles/tank)
@THEBEEF7054 40% increase LOL keep dreaming. and its running hotter, you just dont know it. way to make an ugly looking car bro. ooh btw. has it cracked yet? it will eventually. poor prep work
video should be called how to make an already plain car even more boring. props for giving something a go but man it hardly seems worth the effort, each to their own though
@BLISTKCRX you do realize that this is functional. it has a purpose and is not just for looks. it decreases cd (coefficient drag) and increases under hood temps. both of which increase fuel economy.
When i first see you put foam on i thought your fucking nuts, BUT that is actually genius. Is it really hard after resin?? And is it still ok?? No cracks etc????
@MrTuckleberry so far, so good. it isn't perfect, it does have imperfections. I am not a professional. I am actually far from it. this was only the second time I have ever dealt with body work of any sort. the first time was a true disaster. since then, I have hit a deer but it impacted the side of the car (front fender). that didn't mess it up. it doesn't look great but it still looks like it did that day (only with more dirt)
@MrTuckleberry yeah when i first saw him put foam on the air intake for the radiator i thought he is fucken nuts maybe he had a nutbar b4 he thought of blocking off the air holes lol
my car is a bottom feeder. it takes in ~90% of its air from the bottom. the grill is more for looks than anything. the camarros of the '90s were set up the same way. it has a lip under the bottom that scoops up air to the radiator.
ironically, my fan hasn't come on since I blocked my grill. I have changed my driving habbits. no more drive thru action for me. it's a gas saving thing.
also, I have had my grill blocked off for almost 2 year now. this was just to make it look better.
u'll heat up ur engines

AWESOME. I've been looking for ways to modify my daewoo leganza since they don't make body kits for it. Keep up the great work!!!

Thanks for the Video. I just did this to mine! Great DIY in the aesthetics dept. No sign of overheating in mine either.
