  • I muted the music and played the menu music from mass effect 1, it goes perfectly with it, but still nothing beats the epicness it already is.

  • 7 years to go -

    Los Angeles,

    nov, 2019

gotta start putting some work into creating aero-traffic, scyscrapers etc

  • Shadowrun :D

  • The special effects have changed much in 30 years. Filmed today, this scene would be significantly worse.

  • @octopusmagnificens I'd prefer a good "model/matte painting/lighting/camera" effect over CGI any time.

  • @octopusmagnificens

It's not like they don't use miniatures anymore.

  • the greatest minute of sci-fi imagery ever created has to be this, the werewolf transformation in American Werewolf in London, and 1 of the 5 great 4 second parts of Alien (bow to Ridley Scott) Nostromo landing, egg popping, chest popping, the cat, the unwrapping reveal in the lifeboat, and the Nostromo NOT quietly blowing up (in space...noone can hear you scream)

every other moment of sci-fi pictures just has to wish they were that cool

  • @quidda1 What about The Fifth Element? I always thought the city scenes were pretty cool.

  • @awartskibenor i agree that the visuals on Fifth Element were fantastic, but not original. Always viewed them as a recreating of Blade Runner, Judge Dread comics, or modern day Hong Kong/New York on steroids

  • Every time I hear a bit of soundtrack of this movie here on YouTube, it gives me an extremely relaxing feeling. In my opinion, this movie should get every bit of attention that Star Wars gets nowadays. I wish I was a teenager in the 80s, I would have fucking loved this movie. I love it now, but it would have made it better if I was alive then. Today, Sci-fi films have gone to shit. I mean Transformers 1, 2, and 3, really?

  • L.A has a lot of work to do in 7 years to get that badass.

  • @EndlessSky087 You figure we'ed have those cars by now.

  • @Lynch098 Oops, spelled "we'd" wrong.

  • Thumbs up if the V&A Postmodernism Exhibition brought you here.

  • only 7 more years before we fly with our cars!

  • epic opening scene, movie is a timeless masterpiece

  • for some reason i had not watched this movie until yesterday. now it is one of my favorite movies of all time

  • everytime chills. everytime something new, every freakin' time.... this is my Star Wars... to me this will never be surpassed in the sci fi genre. Forget about it not gonna happen!

  • The part I love is the high note starting at 1:12 that dives into a pitch roll. Simple but brilliant.

  • Beautiful to see this in HD here. One of the most wonderful movies of all time without question.

  • They need to re-release this movie on IMAX

  • @horaciosi They did y'know - it looked beautiful.

  • Masterpiece! See it Bluray!

  • THESE FUCKING ADS WHAT THE FUCK??!

  • @Lithinar81 I'm right behind you on this, buddy - they're ruining the tube, selling-out. Almost completely un-watchable now.

C'MON YOU TUBE - DITCH THE FRICKEN ADS!

  • @Lithinar81 I know man, I know...

They are starting to put adverts next to the video list is well, its a fucking nightmare!

  • f*-* 5 *

  • I only recently watched this movie last month, mainly because I'm a big Harrison Ford fan and i'm 20 years old, but what I really like about this film is the fact that Hideo Kojima made some references in Snatcher (one of my favourite games of all time).

  • @19Vexthehedgehog91 dude, Snatcher is like 110% derivative of Terminator and Blade Runner, so much so I'd almost call it plagiarism.

  • This movie is amazing. The special effects, music, everything. It's realistic, but it's not at the same time. Not only that, but it's so normal, like it could fit in any age. Same with the original Alien. Ridley Scott was a genius at Science Fiction movies. Here's to Prometheus.

  • Best sci-fi film of all time.

Better than Star Wars, 2001, Alien etc.

  • @aeopmusic I remember when Bladerunner came out in 82, it was a box office bomb and got panned by the critics because it wasn't 'faithful' enough to the Philip K Dick novel that inspired it. At the same time, everyone was going ape over E.T. the Extraterrestrial, released the same year...classic, timeless, a work of genius etc. etc. Nearly thirty years on E.T. has been forgotten while Bladerunner has influenced everything from graphic novels to movies, sf novels, fashion and music videos

  • @TomthatiscalledTom True, but you forgot video games: just play Fear Effect from the PS1 or Perfect Dark on N64 or even Timesplitters. Many games take cues from Blade Runner.

  • @SCROGY lol..didn't forget, just ran out of space!

  • @SCROGY Don't forget the Deus Ex series!

  • @thoth81 Word.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom You are an idiot if you think E.T. has been forgotten. The average person in the street wouldn't know what Blade Runner was, or at least wouldn't have seen it. However everyone knows what E.T. is. Blade Runner is influential, and the cinematography and art style are top notch, but as a film, it just simply isn't that good. Plot is predictable, characters are not three dimensional, its pacing is far to slow. The direction is what made the film good. Scott is a talented man.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom

I think both films are worthy and cannot really be compared.

But i'm not surprised that movie critics talked bad about Ridley scott's balde runner...I mean they're critics you know

  • @TomthatiscalledTom Sometimes you have to look beneath the surface

  • @TomthatiscalledTom Never thought about it that way, but you are completely right. ET? Yes, its nice, but grown ups prefer Blade Runner or Alien..

  • @TomthatiscalledTom what are you talking, E.T. hasn't been forgotten, nor any of those films have notably more or less impact than the other.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom I really like Blade Runner (which are two words by the way) and I really dislike E.T., but E.T. is still a very popular movie.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom: ET has been forgotten? ET?

  • @ericfuchs123 Well not literally forgotten as in airbrushed from history. But it has had little longterm cultural impact over 30 years. As it stands, ET is a bit like a Disney movie now, something that carries fond memories for those around at the time but relegated to being broadcast at Christmas or on a Sunday afternoon. What contemporary SF movies (or graphic novels, fashion, video games) reference the image and iconography of ET? Far far less than Bladerunner I assure you

  • @TomthatiscalledTom

E.T. is still a good film.........it's not like it's been forgotten.

  • @TomthatiscalledTom

"E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial" has not been forgotten.

  • 2019 ,?.. lol dream on it will take us iuntil 2111 yes 2 fucking one one one til we get cities like this!

  • This looks great but to be honest I think a good old CRT with an analogue signal works best with the smoky soft textures in this movie. Jesus I sound like an old man

  • can anyone please tell me whose eyes are there at 0:51..?? Is it Deckard's..??

  • @itsaashish They're Roy's eyes.

  • @AGameGem k.. thanks a lot..!!

  • Prefered the old grainy sound effects of previous cuts to this glossy, remastered version. Thanks for the upload though
