  • What a great song.

  • Way better then beatles version. Suck it.

  • I'm a Beatles fan but like the Cookies version better.

  • @jab3785 Very well said. The Beatles were very respectful of Carl Perkins, Larry Williams & The Isley Bros., to name a few. And they always did a hell of a job covering their songs. S Carino.

  • Regardless of who you think did the song better, one thing you have the respect about the Beatles is they always showed proper respect to the artists who inspired them.

  • Beatles did a good job but I like the ladys better!

  • I like the Beatles loads but his just is better - a magnificent song

  • oh yea How in hell i got to be an old man ???? mind is 1962 body is mummy

  • i didn't know that the beatles paid for this song :o however i like this song...

  • I'm here because my mom and my dad fucked together. Well, i guess.

  • Like the Beatles version much better. Maybe because I heard theirs first in '64 in England and it still reverberates in my brain. Thanks

  • @etransform

i'm 20, and i think it reverbates with so many beatles fans because it was georges first lead

  • classic, original Americana! Talent, not pretense or scripted acting-out to compensate for lack of vocal artistry.

  • Lovely version. If Beatles got 100 points, this original should be at least 90. Sorry, but John's armonica is full good.

  • ♪♪♪♪♪♪♥

  • Didn't the cookies later become the Raelettes?

  • Finally found the original. All my searches kept directing me to the Erasures? Terrible group. The Beatles helped kill American R&R. but they were a great band. I still prefer my oldies American style.

  • @arkyron1947 yeah they took us out of r&r and back to pop. their original stuff was much better. you tube and sirius/xm can keep you with more than enough 50's music

  • @arkyron1947

How you can kill something what is dead already?

They just resurected it. But i do understand you: America's got everything best, kultivated taste and education especially.

  • @arkyron1947

the fact that the Beatles covered the Cookies, the Shirelles, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Arthur Alexander, etc., helped to introduce my generation to American rocknroll and keep it alive.

  • @boneypart ; I was 16 when the Beatles arrived on scene.I thought they were great, but their style of R&R and other new groups music morphed into a sound I didn't care for. It's a personal taste not criticising other music.

  • @arkyron1947

Indeed music morphed into something I dont care for. I was 9 in '64. I had to go back to find out what you already knew.

  • I like the Beatles well enough, although some of the people who idol worship them are a bit weird. There are a few absolute masterpieces, some fantastic songs, a lot of good songs and a few pieces of utter crap (mostly Paul McCartney playing "granny music", or George Harrison's early attempts, or anything sung by Ringo). However, it's much better to hear the artists the songs were either written by, or in this case, written for, than just to hear the covers all the time.

  • @anonUK

There are many who disagree with your dismissals of Paul, George, and Ringo.

    cheers

  • I'm here because of the Beatles,.Sorry but it's true

  • @JorTolentino So what.

  • Love the girl groups.

  • The drum rolls are much stronger vs Ringo's lame rolls.

  • I actually like this version better than the Beatles' version. However, the Sax overpowers what essentually is an accoustic piece with Female voices.

  • @Armydicked THis is not folk music We liked to dance not sit and protest

  • Great harmony... Very pleasant to listen. Thanx. Far-away big smile.

  • I am a Beatles fan and a Cookies fan. The original is awesome. However The Beatles pay this song proper respect by keeping it simple and pretty much singing it as the girls did.

  • love this memory!

  • I'm not a Beatles fan...at all. I have been looking for the original version for a long time.

    Great tune!

  • I guess you and I are the only two people in the world who don't like the beatles...at all. Nice to know I'm not alone!

  • @bill012150 three. count me in too.

  • @bill012150 You are definitely alone. But luckily, I belong to the other side of the spectrum (: It would be a pity not to like a band which has had so much influence on other bands and made such great songs.

  • ..THANKS ...I HEARD THIS FIRST SUNG BY 'THE EVERLY BROTHERS' THEN BY 'THE BEATLES' AND THAN THIS ORIGINAL VERSION.....LUF THE SONG THOUGH..
