In theory you are absulutely right. But in order to score a 155 you're dependent on a foul of your oppenent AND it should result in a free ball. If you watch the game regular, you will know that free ball are pretty rare, especially with stil 15 reds on the table!
So creating your own opening, the maximun is 147. Be happy, else we would never see a maximun break!
Maximum possible isnt 147, so why do they say it is?.. break off, few shots taken nothing potted.. foul given (oher one gets 4. dont count that 4 ok)... freeball left... bloke takes yellow as red, thats break 01. yep. .. black as colour thats break 08 yep... now there is all reds on and all colours, he already has a break of 8, the 4 for foul not included... he clears all reds with blacks then colours for 147 add the 08 at start for freeball colour and black.. wala. maximum break 155.

hard to focus after a maximum perhaps. really clean this maximum, apart from the pot on the yellow which didn't get quite the backspin it needed.
