  • awesome 13 gauge cool thats a proper set

  • Wait, how much can you bend? I thought she meant like bending a note...

  • ohhh that body, the voice and the knowledge.... I love phil :D

    lmfao!!!! Wrong Phil

  • Mr Flabby Ears -LOL

  • 13:42 :-D

  • rebecca is smitten!

  • When I see his ear, I get afraid that the rings will pull through when he's playing. Aah, it's so stretchy.

  • 02:01 Cameraman in the mirror! ha ha

  • i think this is my 5th time is 3 months watching this video because of the beauty of Phil's guitar. i wish i had one.

  • Phil in my own opinion is a legendary guitar player...

  • I <3 Phil

  • Just thought "wow, Floyd Rose Titanium Saddle. Let me google that"

For only 800$ they're your's... without the rest of the Floyd for sure :-)

  • GuitarRig4? ;)

  • I can see why their are only 3 supremes, their ugly as fuck

  • I love her! Hot and knows guitars and gear. What more do you need?

  • @barkleyspider What else do you need? Sandwiches!

  • @06alexmd Yes.

  • @barkleyspider the human race doesnt get any better!

  • @barkleyspider yes she shall make a welcome addition to the fantasy haram

  • The Sam Ash here in Indy actually had the Ibanez Destroyer that Phil used on the Photograph music video. It was badass. I didn't have the cash at the time to buy it, and when I did a week later, the damn thing was gone. I was bummed out. I ask for the name of the buyer to see if he would be willing to sell it to me, but they wouldn't give me his name.

  • haven't seen a pc1 ever. how does it sound?

  • @keaulana1 They sound absolutely AWESOME. A friend of mine, who is a doctor, has 3 of them. I got to try them all out and I was just in love with their sound and playability!!!!

  • that supreme has a neck like a fuckin baseball bat.

  • fuck me he bends 13s like nothin

  • I actually think I love him more knowing that he uses 13s and fat necks!

  • That neck is a brick! There's like no heel on there. YIKES!! Plus 13-54 with high action = killer tone. Not my liking but it does make for a monster tone.

Always respected Phil as a guitarist. Underrated and super cool dude. Love the vid.

  • I cannot believe the high action on those things! Damn! ....

  • Got a Purple Daze PC-1 a couple of years back. A beautiful instrument designed to kill. Will be buying another PC-1 soon.

  • nice fucking guitars phil love jackson guitars

  • I couldn't attend the show but I'm close enough to the fairgrounds where I could hear them play while I was outside for some late-night grilling on deck. The crowd sounded INSANE.

  • Didn't recognise Phil with a shirt on.

  • 6:22 He's color blind?

  • i want the cameleon pc-1 and the supreme.

  • I've watched a couple of these rig rundowns and Phil is the ONLY one where he actually shows her his rig. All of the other ones are their guitar techs that show them their rig.

  • fattest neks ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Met Phil, he is just a fantastic person, NAM show one year and I quite literally bumped into him at the Jackson booth. I happened to be holding a PC1. He sat down and went over the guitar with me, just a great guy and a great player. Love seeing him continuing to be successful

  • Those Supremes look heavy as shit.

  • what a great vid, kudos to Phil & Rebecca.

  • Adam is awesome.

  • SWEET RIGS!!!!!!!!

  • the supreme looks like guitar with a tumer on it

  • Was wondering if PG could get a better mic for these interviews ... any chance of lapel micing Rebecca and whomever she's interviewing?

  • "multi-erector"

  • Yngwie uses 8s on top and 46s or 48s he says he only notices a tone difference on the bottom strings. 10s seem to be the most commonly used string size.

  • Note to Phil. Leave the fast picking to Campbell....

  • his ibanez dt555 was the best

  • ilove you! phill collen you rock! oh hey do u like jackson pc-1.

how long have you played guitar for?

  • very cool guy.

  • His guitars with his specs are really not what you get when you pay out the ying yang for his artist model guitars. Look at the video. His guitars have titanium tremelos and dunlop straplocks. If you pay for that, you should get that.

  • ugliest geetars i've ever seen

  • Sloppy shedder

  • @chosen1Imcoming

    sloppiest shredder ever?

  • Very cool...We love u Phill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Phil looks really fit and healthy. Well researched and presented by Rebecca as usual. Asks all the right questions and lets the interviewees talk!

  • i am interested in splashing painting one of my other guitars is there a specific type of paint you need to use

  • Serious question, but why would you get a guitar in a colour that you can't see due to colour blindness?

  • what is the white guitar?

  • He had a piece of gear called the 'multi erector'...

  • Comment removed

  • 12:14

    multi erector lol

  • He must be using Pro Steel D'Addario strings, I use both GHS and D'Addario (the regular nickel wound ones) and the GHS are brighter.

  • What a pleasant speaking voice - he could be a radio personality. Also seems like such a nice guy. So glad they weren't involved in that horrible stage collapse.

  • Start talking with the guitars LOL .

  • LOL you wanna start talking to the guitars !!!

  • AWESOME RIG RUNDOWN!

  • Classy Pro!

  • I remember just a few short yrs ago , Premiere Guitar was a "nobody" magazine, sent for free to anyone who had a Guitar Center,Mars or any other music store acct. , and now they rank up there with Guitar Player in substance and style. Good job!

  • guitar rig 4 nice i like to use it too even though i got valve amps, pedals and mics and everything, but its just so easy with guitar rig 4 just record and you can tune your sound even after you have recorded.

  • holy crap! phil collen wearing... A SHIRT!!!! i never thought i'd see the day ;)

  • the body looks like the ibanez rg870qmz

  • Rebecca, Do you play guitar? I was wondering because you ask all of the right "guitar" questions. You have a great job being able to interview people like Phil Collen. PG Rocks!

  • The Ibanez Destoyer he used on the Pyromania album and on the video of Photograph was on sale at the Sam Ash in Indy. I was deciding whether or not to buy it and went back two weeks later, cash in hand, anf the damn thing sold the day before! Damit, I was bummed out. Snooze and lose, I guess is the lesson learned.

  • @sixstringfretter how much did it go for?

  • $1200. That's all! I had just bought a new amp the day before and didn't have enough cash to get it when I first saw it. I should have taken the amp back, got my money back, and got the Destroyer.

  • Lil tiny Phil.

  • Heck of a nice guy, that Phil Collen

  • Dam...i really wanted to see that white guitar at the end.

  • I really want to get my hands on a supreme when they are available.

  • Diggin that bridge that accepts the ball ends.

  • Full credit for Phil giving us the tour himself!!! Top man!

  • @Deathrape2001 You clearly havent tried the Axe FX or the Axe FX 2.... And no, youtube videos does not do it justice.

  • What a nice guy Phil is, superb.

  • .13-.56 DAAMMNN!!! GSUS!!!!!!!

  • @FreaquedeMusique Props to Rebecca for calling him out on it

  • @FreaquedeMusique

Don't forget that they are tuning down a full step these days

  • @ThieleM i know but still its insane!

  • @FreaquedeMusique

Agreed, they are pretty big. THey havent learned from SRV; even tuning down his hands were ruined by the time he died. At the time of his death Stevie was down to 10 and 11 sets, he also had problems with his hands locking up.

I think there is a law of diminishing returns. Billy Gibbons gets a much fatter tone than Phil Collen and uses 7 and 8 gauge strings.

Tone /= string gauge, rather it is a combination of everything in your rig.

  • @ThieleM Yup. But stevie always used 11's right?

  • @FreaquedeMusique

No he used 13's tuned down a half step most of his career. For a while his tech said he went to 14s for the high E.

  • @ThieleM wow... I always thought his strings looked thick, but damn that is reaaally thick... I always wondered why i never got a lot of sustain out of my high e... that explains.. xD thanks! learned something new today!!

  • @FreaquedeMusique

There are reports that he went as big as an 18 for the high E, but felt it was too stiff.

  • @ThieleM :O thats almost impossible!! Holy shit!!! xD

  • Transistor stuff like JMP 1 & digital stuff like Guitar Rig U can certainly tell from good tube stuff. Transistors have a thinner, less dynamic thing, always with a 'radio hash' thing mixed in. Digital is coarse & flat, oddly lacking in detail. There is bad tube stuff, but good tube stuff sounds much better. Also U can't do 'subtle breakup' things with trans or digital - sounds krap that way. & good tube stuff is way quieter than either (no need 2 ride volume knobs 2 reduce noise).

  • @Deathrape2001 You say all that but I use a Tech21 trademark amp. The amount of people who think it's some sort of hot rod Fender valve amp and can't cope with it being solid state because it has the break up etc... I play Jazz so it is a different kettle of fish.

Also Phil spends a lot of time back in the UK so knows that valves are going to be restricted and phased out like the incandescent light bulb.

  • @Djarra What I say has nothing 2 do with the fact transistors have a flat, lifeless sound compared 2 tubes, & radio hash noise thrown in, or that digital has a grainy, coarse sound oddly lacking in detail. T here is lots of horrible tube gear of course - like needles & pins or shrill nails-on-blackboard nonsense, but good tube gear wipes the floor with N E thing else 4 distortion.Of course, U already know this, but U R just trolling me because U think it magically makes your non-tube krap better

  • @Djarra You are misinformed my friend. Vacuum tube sales have increased 10% in the last 14 years. The companies that make them are even bringing back phased-out models due to demand. Tubes always have and always will be the only choice in high-end audio and guitar amplifiers.

Alexander Dumble said it best: "....fragile harmonics thrive in a free-flowing vacuum, whereas they are squashed in a solid state crystal lattice." If you've ever compared the two, you can also "feel" the difference.

  • @SixStringHarmonies The European Union are to phase out valves and this will hit sales. Valve amps waste a heck of a lot of energy and this is why they are due to be targeted. At the moment it's a feast before the famine.

  • @Djarra real guitarists will always create a demand for tubes. we will never see them leave us.

  • what a nice guy.

  • this is a long one

  • One of the best rig rundowns I've seen. You can tell he really enjoys what he does. I also liked how Phil took the time to do the rundown himself.

    13 gauge?! Daaaaang.

  • @BobSince1981 .013 because they're way downtuning _everything_. Some time compare the keys of their live concerts to the recordings. Joe E. doesn't sound like a teeny-bopper any more.

  • Wasn't the stage collapse that day?

  • @nsfr3 Same day, different state. This was at the Iowa State Fair, the stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair.

  • @premierguitar is there a viedo on that???

  • Amazing guitars and awesome guitar player PHIL COLLEN!

  • I love that he gives his own rig tour and not a roadie.

  • YESSS!!!!!!! Best one yet! Besides John Mayers

  • If they made them with the thick necks and 13's as stock I would buy one

  • IM GOIN TO SEE THEM TOMORROW NIGHT!!! SO EXCITED!!

  • Great player and killer rig.

  • You're a naughty one...sloppy Phil

  • He has some of the nicest looking signature models ever.

  • Maybe it's me, but those don't look like 13s...

  • @nght5tlkr

Yeah, they look like 12.5's to me

  • Phil Collen's such a genuine guy :)

  • DAMN those necks are THICK!

  • hm...the def lep guitar player uses 13s? who knew?

  • nice
