What's the speed limit? Anyhow, I can tell you that cycling in the middle of a road with 4 lanes is pretty scary, and so is cycling on a 2 lane one with a 70mph speed limit with massive lorries zooming past. Anyhow, I'm still alive so it's all good fun.
The roadway is in bad condition, and that shoulder looked useless.
But I do think those motorists were sharing the road. It didn't look like anyone came within three feet (three foot law).
What if a motorist moves completely into the left lane, and the driver behind him passes him on the right? That's what I think about. I don't know what his-vis clothing you were wearing or if you had a blinkie on.
I'm glad you are documenting cycling conditions on video, thank you.
It appears you legally shouldn't be on the road with your attitude. I am guessing you don't stop at stop lights to share with the other motorists either.
you are fucking retarded, i bike every day 20 miles for liasure, and i love to ride my bike. the road is a two lane highway, which u shouldnt be on is what i am saying
Why not simply ask for a map? According to you I should never cross the river. I took Mckellips. Apparently you can determine which roads a cyclist is suppose to be on just by video wowie. To bad your special skills didn't work that time.
Cyclist should NOT even be on a road like that!!! There is no place for motorists to move over without causing an accident. The cyclist in this video should at least keep more to the right.
I'm a 18 yr cycling veteran and I can't stand ignorant cyclists that give all of us a bad name because they think they "own" the road.
It's called a MOTORWAY for a reason people. We respect the motorists and they might just respect us.
I just stick to paths, too many bad drivers out there to risk my life on. Cant stand the exhaust anyways

@quwers It was 50 mph. Anytime the speed limit goes above 30 mph, I notice myself a bit more defensive.

You should ride in the middle of the lane, at all times, on roadways like this. Trust me, motorists will yield properly to you, and not squeeze past.

Right lane is the slow lane, and faster cars will avoid it if they see someone leaving this lane.

Cyclists can use any road which is not prohibited with signs. We use interstates also.
Motorists have brakes and per the law must pass only when it is safe.
There is a lane to the left traveling in the same direction. There is a freeway which can be used to avoid cyclists. Which is faster I might add.
It is called a public roadway.
Please educate yourself on the laws. You call your self a cyclist, yet act as though you never left a MUP.

@ICEJD That's not a motorway.

that lane isn't wide enough to share

I always take the lane and rarely, if ever, get brush passed as in your video. The traffic looks light enough that you would not be impeding anyone.

Seeing how a bicycle is a vehicle, and thus traffic, a more aggressive lane position wouldn't be "impeding traffic".
I also have been very pleased with motorist's response to my lane position when I am in the LEFT tire track- especially on two lane country highways.
