Of course, these numbers are based on the BLS inflation calculations, which have been manipulated over the years to minimize increases given to SS recipients. The true destruction of the dollar is much worse. BLS reported zero inflation the last two years, check your expenditures to see if that is true.

If you are talking about the purchasing power of the US dollar declining that way over 100 yrs, you should be able to provide ample data. Buying metals involves the financial markets unless you have a warehouse and the ability to finance holding vast quatities of hardware. If money turns to just paper, chances are the value of 'metal' (notice you didn't say gold) will also be insignificant.

That comes out to 102.02 ounces of gold. That is roughly 3.17 Kilograms, which is 6.996 or rounded up 7 pounds. You have trouble carrying around 7 pounds?
