86 grand... what the fuck? You could buy a franchise and be your own boss for that kind of money. You could buy a home, or shit, blow it all on a weekend in Vegas. - You'd be better off betting it all on black in a single round of roulette than you would with going to a private school. At least in the game of roulette you have a chance of winning, where as the private school route you lose every single time.
@endauthority say that now and you wil be laugh at, overall tyranny can exist anywhere this what most americans said b4 and look at the Euro Economics, you cant tell me this is not happeing or unrelevant.
The for- profit industry scam is a horror that no one else should be subject to. If you or anyone you know has a story they are willing to share in order to stop this from happening to others please submit your comments to Campus Progress. You can do this by going to the Campus Progress website, at the top, in the 'hot topics' sections click for- profit colleges, and then click tell your story on the right hand side of the screen. Thank you!
Even if there are real for-profits colleges (i.e. NOT degree mills) out there, I wouldn't recommend attending one.The stigma attached to for-profit schools is just too great a risk to one's career & financial health. Plenty of community & state colleges offer evening & online options at a much lower cost. There are plenty of options for working adults out there besides these "schools" that get fat off the broken hopes & dreams of the poor & stupid.
In hopes that students from these schools might be able to submit their information into an online database. Just go to the Campus Progress website and click "for profit colleges" then scroll down and click "submit your story"

@Asiablue no shit...what I meant was how is LEGAL, why aren't these cases taken seriously by legislation. If you tag it as for profit, there are still laws that need to be placed to protect the interest of those who are investing in the hopes of getting a better education that is recognized.
@kich88 Agreed, but keep in mind the principle you speak of and compare it to Enron Corp, the recent Wall Street non-sense and other such biz corruption scandals. Money rules. Then everyone pays one way or another.
@Asiablue True...sadly. But with the more media this gets (hopefully) there would be a greater push for reaction towards those who have pocketed corporations and government figures that in turn sway the rest of the government powers into funding said colleges. But, will the push be great enough to fairly bring those who have already fallen victim to these scams satisfaction.
@kich88 Agreed once more, regarding the media. But I must admit some cynicism as to whether things will change. Banks and corporations regard any personal debt of yours as a revenue stream for them. Bankrupcies? No prob! The sheer number of loans/debts/revenue streams minimize any real losses to the bank or corp from any one source. You go down but the big boys still make a profit. Let's call it "Trickle Up" economics.

All colleges and universities should be publicly funded, and only those with recognized courses should be licenced.
