I wouldn't pay that much money for 7"... in my country they sell it for about 460$. I ordered a chinese android tablet for 60$. Difference is its 800mhz, not 1ghz, and its resistive(with multitouch), and not capacitive. Anyway, its more or less do the same job. But I saved 400$.

I'm enjoying using my Samsung Galaxy Tab. Plus for me is the size is really cool and it handles web really well. Downers? No apps really seem make good use of the extra real estate. Also the screen would be nicer if it were and LED lit one. But overall I'm calling this a good alternative to Apple's offering.

I have a galaxy tab right now and I must say that I also read comics on it. I've found a app wich zooms the speech bubbles in when you tap on it with your finger. I dont know if it is a quite new app but it makes reading comics more enjoyable without actually having to zoom in and out your entire screen the whole time.

You're right about the 7 inch form factor. I think they are making a mistake with the new 8.9 size. It will be a while before Apple are defeated in the courts and Samsung can release the new honeycomb tabs. But i have heard Samsung are doing a makeover of the 7 inch with a dualcore processor if they do it will be fantastic!

Some months ago I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab myself and I am still impressed by the device. 10" Tablets are nice, but 7" tablets are best due to the form factor/ portability (unless you want to carry a bag with you all the time for the 10" (while the 7" just fits fine in my jacket). Only thing i would is a better battery life, but that would sacrifice the overall weight probably. Overall: well done, Samsung! I have seen Ipads (which are nice), but it's the size that does it during the day!

Honeycomb isn't officially supported on ANY 7 inch device right now, Currently Honeycomb only runs on Nvidia Tegra 2 hardware, It's not Samsung's fault. And there *IS* a HACKED and UNOFFICIAL rom that will install Honecomb on your 7inch Galaxy tab.

Could not keep an internet connection & NONE of the apps would worked not even the ones that dont need a connection but after I'd use it for 10-30minnits & loose the 3G connection nothing would work! @iluvmym4 The only problem I've come across was several apps not working for the Galaxy tab, but other than that I never had any problems with the WIFI or the 3G, you might have just gotten a bad apple per say. XD

One thing I noticed is you should always before trying a new app for the first time, close ALL the apps you have open using Advanced Task Manager. I've noticed a lot less problems when you close background apps. Too many apps can also mess with connection quality, not just slowdowns.

Dude i think your expecting alot from one device...thea ipad does not have a single camera, when your browsing you dont get big white squares when you surfing, you get a vid/voice call option, no lock down for customise, no converting your movies into the only 1 format apple accept...mpeg4. This will munch any format divx, xvid, avi, mkv ect ect..drag n drop onto the tab, no need for itunes. No gadget on this earth is 100% perfect, the ipad is far from it. £349 sim free/3g/wifi from amazon u.k.

There is a terrific bluetooth in this tab. You do NOT have to hold this phone next to your ear. You can use a bluetooth or a wired device.

Great review. I agree with most of your points. Android 1.2 is really 'tuned' for smaller smart phone screens: Android 1.3 should address most of these niggles (end Mar 2011). You didn't say much about SatNav, but the GPS receiver works as well as any dedicated SatNav and the Google route planner (beta) looks really promising. Garmin, Tom Tom et al need to be very afraid!

For N.American users, they will be able to make phone calls and use 3G without having to buy a contract too.

it's just small enough to put in ANY pocket and hold with 1 hand

I use a crappy sticky pad that goes in your air vents in my car (for the GPS) and it works great!

the Bluetooth will hit 300 feet without any obstacles

the battery will last for 10+ hours (not including music) if you turn the brightness down

oh, did i mention the thing where it can become a wireless router and have 5 iPads connect to it? OUT OF THE BOX

I have a problem if anyone would be so kind to help me out, I got my tab to connect to my home wifi only twice and not it will not connect. I have reset my router turned off the tablet etc.. it just scans and then disables so no wifi. I paid full price as I didn't want to go on a contract or pay to have 3g service as I am home most all the time and don't need to waste my money on 3g. If anyone knows what I could do to get my wifi working I would appreciate it, thanks

Blunty, please get your facts straight on how android multitasks before you ruin your android experience. You do NOT need to use a task manager as the os itself kills apps when they take to much memory or cpu processes. Using a task manager will only make battery life worse as each app restarts as soon as you kill it.

I may be wrong, but from what I see this system should render task killers redundant (though even without task killers, it wont be as smooth and responsive as ios)

@Blunty3000 i had that problem with my galaxy s at first but after the update to 2.2 (i'm from germany :-) ) and using the voodoo lagfi, which converts the crappy filesystem to ext4, i dont have those problems anymore and the lags, that were mentioned in the galaxy s review, are gone too.

the new update to 2.2.1 should be even better and people say that a kagfix is no longer needed but i dontknow how far this concernes the galaxy tab

@Blunty3000 They don't magically self-terminate, but you you actually have an 'option' of choosing to let the app run in the background, or exiting it right away. If you don't want it in the background use the 'back' key to exit out of it, otherwise just jump to the home screen. And there's a tiny widget on mine that lets me kill apps right from the home screen. I didn't feel it was much of a problem.
