  • @topografer that won't happen sadly RIP :(

  • I would also love to see Max payne reviews by you.. And i think you will love them especially the first one

  • PLEASE review Arkham City

  • @darbusmaximus No need to ask.

  • @darbusmaximus he wont.. unfortunatly he died a while ago.. RIP stephen AKA antisocialfatman

  • Did you just cut at 7:33 then continue later at the exact word that you left off on?

  • @laifalbert Yes. ADR.

  • i am the 8,000 viewer! woop!

  • @Koopsas lol fail

  • @TheThatguy101 nu uhh

  • You have got to review the max payne games. I grew up with them and loved the storytelling and the game over all. Have you played them? Care to review them soon? Awesome reviews btw. You clearly must put a lot of thought and effort in them, and it shows.

  • Fatman, if you have a PSP you should check SH: Shattered Memories, its most certainly the best PSP game I have ever played. The console versions are complete shit, but the PSP version is truly fantastic, mostly due to the more "personnal" feel of the portable console, and how much better it controls and looks. Its was, by far, my favourite game of 2010. Don't try it on any other console than the PSP, believe me, you (and I) will regret it if you do.

  • @poliv67 I played the Wii version and found it to be utterly terrible. Extremely impressive technically (aiming the torch with the remote is *amazing* & very good graphics), but very poor gameplay.

Unless the PSP version has actually different gameplay, I wouldn't like it much more, but it's academic as I don't own a PSP.

  • @antisocialfatman The PSP version is a masterpiece. Its not different in any way BUT, its unreal how much the (Like I said) more personnal feel of the PSP make it amazing, its a game that puts a lot of emphasis on exploring and observation, something that breaks the console versions and makes the PSP version. The gameplay has been improved, it controls like Resident Evil 4, wich is far more adequate. And the PSP screen is a big advantage, because its closest you'll get from HD resolution. (1-2)

  • @poliv67 Have you actually played the Wii version? It has perfect controls. I can't imagine the PSP version coming close. In the Wii version, you aim the torch (and guise the camera) with the Wii remote, and that's *perfect* for Silent Hill.

If you like the PSP version, that's cool, but I doubt I'd like it as much as the Wii version, which I already don't like anyway.

  • @antisocialfatman Its not so much about the controls. The whole feel of the game just works better on PSP. Playing this game on the Wii/PS2 vs playing it on the PSP is kinda like eating at home vs eating at a restaurant, its the same thing, yet its really different for reasons.

You really should try it for yourself because I can't explain it much better than that.

Beside, you can get both this game and a PSP these days for about a 100 bucks.

  • @antisocialfatman And they really managed to work around the PSP's limitations, some textures are changed and some animations are altered amongst other things, but the ironic thing is that all those "tweaks" actually add more personnality to the game (Kinda like looking at early -insert Valve game here- gameplay). If I had tried that game on the PS2 in the first place, I would have hated it just as much as you did. But the PSP version is, most definitly, in my own personnal top 10. (2-2)

  • Whoa, I just read that you cannot remap your keys. DEALBREAKER! What is this, 1995? That goes so bowel-shakingly past "unacceptable" that developers who leave this out of games should truly be dragged out into the street and beaten severely, after first having disgruntled players evacuate their bowels upon them. Twice! I am not 100% sure, I should add, but multiple forums seem to confirm this horrid fact. This is why I will never play Dead Space. Unacceptable! Someone please tell me I'm wrong!!

  • @eggbertsmith Wow. Pretty angry huh? You'll get used to the controls in no time, don't worry about it.

  • @eggbertsmith I think you ARE wrong, but I can't be 100% sure since my mother confiscated it because its "too violent". GTA and Riddick is fine, but Batman is too violent... Figure that one out...

  • Do you always play all games on hard difficulties? I do, I think it is the best way to ever get good at a game.

  • fuck... i realized that you're my fauvorite reviewer now... Screw IGN and Gamespot!

  • hmm... i disagree. IMO the stealth was FREAKIN' AWESOME

  • @thedocbat Nope

The stealth was basic keep out of the sight MGS stealth done much worse.

And the fact that no enemy looked up was a bit stupid too,if they had improved upon the stealth aspect then this game would be the best game of the whole year.

Still the stealth was OKAY for a game that had emphasis on combat.

  • One of the best games of last year. The game has so many nice touches, my favorite is how Batman's clothes tear as the game progress. I 100%-ed it but I must have sucked at combat because I hardly ever got more than 15x combo.

  • @mrbitbot Yep

    You did sucked at combat.

I ignored combat and the max I could get was 53x combo

  • The riddler puzzles were amazing. I hope something like that is more prominent in the second game.

  • i agree with you 99.9% on this review, i personally loved the bosses. the final boss made my jaw drop like no other boss in existence has.

  • After playing the game myself, I do disagree with you on the subject of slow motion. As far as I remember, unless you do something utterly spectacular in stealth (usually involving breaking through stuff), you only get those at the end of the combat. While this is somewhat repetitive, the moments are brief and a very clear indicator of the end of the combat. They do a great job of telling me that I do not need to keep on planning my next move, but instead I can relax.

  • Looks like a title I should play then. With a pad. On a PC. Yeah.

  • You backwards savage!

  • @apmyp79 Surprisingly, a keyboard and mouse combo works better with this game than a gamepad. I was absolutely shocked as 95% of the PC ports I've played has had so shitty mouse support they would've been better off without keyboard and mouse support.

Really nice to have a PC game for once that DOESN'T have shit mouse acceleration issues and DOESN'T need to be tweaked out the ass through ini files to get it to feel playable.

  • Thanks for doing a NON - VALE game,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

There are other games deserving of reviews except half live, but given the in-depth writing commentary and INsight, its understandable why it may not be possible for you give such great personal attention to a game/review.

    Greatly Appeciated

  • Once again fatman you have convinced me to get a game. many thanks

  • I thought the controls in this game were way too sluggish.

  • If you're talking about the mouse look speed, I agree. It's RIDICULOUS that it can't be altered.

But any gamer worth his salt has a mouse with an adjustable DPI, so it's not really an issue.

  • I agree. I mainly complain that Batman just feels sluggish during combat and for someone that's supposed to be agile he moves like a tank without the Resident Evil controls. A petty complaint but I just quit after Killer Croc.

  • The bosses were not undwhelming to me in the slightest either. They were well set up and their execution was handled in the way all good boss battles should be handled. They were puzzling and challenging and weren't just a simple matter of slowly eating away at an enormous health bar.

  • Completely disagree with your view on the Riddler in the game. A lot of those riddles were quite challenging to find.

  • Yes, they were sometimes challenging to find. But that's not what riddles are - riddles are puzzles, they are to be solved, not found.

'Solving' the 'riddles' in AA simly amounts to stumbling across immediately obvious solutions after exploration. There is virtually no intellectual process involved.

Do you now see the problem?

  • Hey, Just wondering. What do you think about Nvidia's 3D vission? Have you tried it?

    Again, 5 stars.

  • This game looks so awesome. But with so many games coming out this fall I'm going to have to (sadly) put this on my "wait until it's $30 or less" list. Hopefully Steam will have a weekend deal on it in a few months.

  • You talk about great games like Dues Ex and Tron 2.0 and Escape from Butcher Bay, bu no reviews! I for one would love to see you review Tron 2.0!

  • Did you use a voice modifier for this review?

  • No.

  • oh it was just bad sound on the computer i was using. have you read the Grant Morrison 'Arkham Asylum'? I haven't, but he is a fucking amazing writer sometimes.

  • Sadly no, but I plan to. The story summary sounds awesome.

  • Yo, Antisocialfatman, I'm happy for you, and imma let you finish, but I just wanted to say that Gamesweasel makes some of the greatest game reviews of all time!!

  • I will agree that many games based on existing IP's are mostly throw away games. I have not played this game yet (but after your review I cant wait to) so I cant comment on this game but another game that is based on an existing IP is wolverine origin. Is W.O. a brand new take on hack and slash? not even, but I found it a very well done game based off a movie license.

  • Excellent review!

  • Spot-on review. I would have been satisfied with just the brawler/stealth experience, but adding in Metroid elements is what really sold me. Very interesting take on the inherent problems of 3rd Person stealth games. Not sure I completely agree (even if it was very action-oriented MGS4 is still my pick for best stealth game ever, if only for the Europe chapter) but opinions like that I why your reviews are far more engaging than the average "Buy it" write-up.

  • Thanks!

  • I was hoping you might do a review for this. Thanks again, Fatman. :D

  • Why is everyone suggesting KotOR? Its so bloody overrated.

  • no way its 1 of the best rpgs of all time

  • Stay a while, and listen!

  • No love for Knights of Old Republic? I think it deserved to be on your list at 0:34 more than something like Tron 2.0

Nonetheless, awesome review as always. Keep up the good work

  • You're probably right, but I hate D&D and I hate Star Wars. I really can't stomach KotOR.

  • Fair enough. Still, Bioware took the Star Wars license and craved their own universe into the franchise. One that is arguably superior to the films it's based off of.

I would recommend the 2 games, but a hatred of Star Wars could trouble your experience. The D&D elements however are mostly in the underwork of the game. I didn't even realize it was a D&D system for quite awhile.

  • Good review as always, fatman. I'll have to pick this one up.

  • Hands down, you have the best pc reviews on the web.

  • hey fatman ever playd knight of the old republic, just wondering lol

  • Five Stars. Your video reviews are so well written and so well edited that the professional video reviews from sites like IGN look pathetic. You really do have a fantastic future ahead. These videos are your resume.

  • on your list of things that are good about the game, you forgot to mention that poison ivy is HOT!!! i'm glad you gave her some screen time, just enough for me to get something out of it!

    excellent review.

  • hey fatman how u get this already uk is 18th imported or something?

  • The site I order from sends stuff out early.

  • Hahaha a game with regenerating health and a large focus on multiplayer needs no review, it's just another generic shooter.

  • Great review, ill bung you some beer tokens too when you start the site.

  • Great Game...Great Review !!

  • Well this was a nice surprise.. Great stuff!

  • Still loving your reviews. When's the website coming out? I feel obliged to donate =P

  • We're looking at some time next summer right now, but that's probably subject to change.

  • Awesome, I really can't wait =)
