This is the explanation I found on the internet: Nancy is still sleeping when she thought she pulled Freddy out from her sleep, but since she turned her back on him he lost all power of her, and since he was then unable to kill her he trapped her in the car and killed her mother who was sleeping.

If you watch Part 3 you see that Nancy was on Hypnocil for Nightmares (normal nightmares) so you could argue she did wake up and the ending was just the beginning of her PTSD (post traumatic) nightmares, that build up to part 3,

Actually, that is still wrong. Wes Craven himself said that the final battle between Freddy and Nancy was still a dream. Wes Craven had originally intended for the movie to have a happy ending in which Nancy kills Freddy and everything turns out to have been one whole nightmare, with everyone being alive in the end, however, New Line Cinema demanded a twist ending, so it was rewritten to have the final battle where she pulled Freddy out of the dream as still a dream, explaining why Marge
disappeared into the bed and why Freddy rose from it. Then Nancy killed him and with the last of his strength, tricked her into thinking everything was fine and detained her in the car while he killed her mother (this is continued from my last comment)

My Opinions: 1. The dream never ended and freddy let her think it was over. 2. Fear gives freddy strength, and he "dies" when she says she isnt afraid anymore But the dream could still be going on, and at 9:57 she is afraid, maybe even thinking its Freddy, thus letting him back into the dream to cause more destruction. Well these are just opinions, nothing more.

Hey, it looks like Nancy's wearing slippers at 2:25 - 2:26 (pause if you need to), even though she's barefoot for the rest of the sequence. Did I just discover a continuity flub? :-D

The movie is good. but i dont really understand. why Tina, Glen and Rod are alive? we saw them be killed during the movie! Can someone else explain it to me?

If you watch Part 3 you see that Nancy was on Hypnocil for Nightmares (normal nightmares) so you could argue she did wake up and the ending was just the beginning of her PTSD (post traumatic) nightmares, that build up to part 3,

look all of you are wrong about her still dreaming, she wasnt dreaming she really pulled him out of her dream if she didnt then how come she was able to call her dad to help her but he wasnt asleep so next time people THINK!

It must have been her mothers dream, when freddy went into her bed room. Because nancy saw the door was open, when she closed it.

Actually, that is still wrong. Wes Craven himself said that the final battle between Freddy and Nancy was still a dream. Wes Craven had originally intended for the movie to have a happy ending in which Nancy kills Freddy and everything turns out to have been one whole nightmare, with everyone being alive in the end, however, New Line Cinema demanded a twist ending, so it was rewritten to have the final battle where she pulled Freddy out of the dream as still a dream, explaining why Marge

disappeared into the bed and why Freddy rose from it. Then Nancy killed him and with the last of his strength, tricked her into thinking everything was fine and detained her in the car while he killed her mother (this is continued from my last comment)

lmfao, i'm always peeing myself with laughter here at the end, the shitty music, the jar smashed on the head, the shitty sledgehammer when it hits him, the way he screams and crumbles down the stairs, his shitty claws that make noises when he threatans to "split" her.....then he hits the trip wire and gets blown over by the shitty exploding lamp.

My Opinions: 1. The dream never ended and freddy let her think it was over. 2. Fear gives freddy strength, and he "dies" when she says she isnt afraid anymore But the dream could still be going on, and at 9:57 she is afraid, maybe even thinking its Freddy, thus letting him back into the dream to cause more destruction. Well these are just opinions, nothing more.

since I'm studying media at college, I gotta pay attention to such things, it's a crucial moment, as Nancy then really wants to get her revenge on Krueger, although it all just turns out to be a dream, it's very manipulative and cleverly done
