  • does she have a speech impedement?

  • My daughter is Lucy in the sky with diamonds, and also the little girl who led her siblings into Narnia... but she's Lucinda because of THIS song. Perfect.

  • Kenny is the bomb!

  • I learned about Ms. Williams from her sitting in with Evie Sands on "Cool Blues Story", and this is my favorite song from "Car Wheels"--wall-to-wall slide guitar! And I think the recorded version is available on another YouTube video.

  • Lucinda, girl you are and always have been a total standout!

  • Nice one tishhead!..I've driven so many miles with lucinda blasting out of the speakers that i now relate road trips to "PERMAGRIN".If "Car wheels"dont make your ears happy, then nothing will.Keep on rocking my friend!!

  • I love this song because I can totally relate... so sad ...lol!!!

  • it's over. I know it but I can't let go.......

  • Lucinda Williams ROCKS!!!!!!!! Love this stuff!! Can't let go...Thanks for this great video! :-)

  • like somebody (Bill Graham) said about janis joplin... one great great broad.

  • Lol, this woman held me when I was a baby... we have a signed record. My dad knew her a bit.. pretty exciting! This is my fave of her songs.

  • she looks like Ryan Adams here

  • I LOVE me some good lucinda Williams! She takes it to her acoustic pretty good in this one. Last time I saw her, she didn't play guitar on quite a few tunes.

  • Williams was on par with the two outstanding guitars. Thanks for this great performance.

  • I love lucinda williams..

  • Cool song!!

  • can you put the album version up to please?

  • An American original.

  • Heh heh heh! Tanya! Ha!

  • I learned about Ms. Williams when she joined Evie Sands to record "Cool Blues Story" on Evie's "Women in Prison" CD. "Can't Let Go" is one smokin' guitar showcase.

  • i want her so damn bad i could scream.

yum, yum, and magically delicious, i must say

nancy wilson PRACTICES singing lucindas songs

  • what a wonderful gutsy inspirational woman, i love you lucinda.

  • I keep telling myself this is not country.. it is country blues, it makes me feel better about all the bad things I've said about country music.

  • cool song...

  • Lucinda, tu déchire ........ excellent !! merci Lucinda

  • Kenny Vaughan: Catch him now w Maryt Stuart & The Superlatiives.

  • Great song! Love her! Her thoughts and lyrics are so raw and real.

  • Larry the Cable Guy on electric bass / backing vocals.

  • Kick out the jams mama

  • if anyones interested, i can help with playing this song....its pretty tough to figure by ear, and theres absolutely no tabs other than the chords....

  • Kenny Vaughn...bringin it!

  • @Johnnyglincoln A????

  • Lucinda still going strong and at 57, dare I say she will be our first true rocking lady of senior citizenship soon enough (not that she'd like to hear that!). I mean we've got a lot of great female singer-songwriters but how many truly rock or continued to do it? Not many. And Lucinda is more than old enough to be a grandma and she's doing it as strongly as ever. I guess she and Chrissie Hynde show women can age and stay hip. but Lucinda's still at the top of her game. West was a masterpiece.

  • Does Joan Jett qualify?

  • this sizzzzzzzles =D

  • That is a perfect example of a song that cannot and will not ever be done better than that. I am new to Lucinda but not for long.

  • @SaveCetaceansNOW I know her personally and she said she writes everything from experiences-she is an awesome person.

  • You a lucky man . I know so little of her but what i do I just love Everything about her I mean not to mention her amazing and gifted talent but she just must be so fun and thanks for writing me and saying .

  • You saw me..the giant biker outlaw... at the stage...tears streaming down my face in awe of this woman's music

  • @gnarlysot That's a testament to what a fantastic performer Lucinda is...it's hard to find true musicians in this day and age...but Lucinda's soul has been around for thousands of years!

  • THIS SONG HAS "IT" & the performance has "IT" PURE MAGIC!

  • @sfbayguysf ,TRUE!!

  • "Car wheels on a gravel road"ranks as one of the finest albums made. Lucinda williams reminds us how music is supposed to be made. With heart, character, joy and and a healthy dose of the blues. God love her. I have..for many years..may she bring you good tidings...peace.

  • @voodoocan4 one of the life's pleasures is digging out a disc you haven't heard for awhile and falling in love with it all over. did that with "car wheels" today. turned it up loud enough to make my ears bleed and my car's radiator to leak. a musical orgasm. felt like driving from california to slidell, la., and looking for my damn joy.

  • How can you not love her. Fantastic band plus great song plus Lucinda makes a fantastic performance.

    Thank you Ms. Williams.

  • Hell yeah! Great song, and great performance. Thanks for posting this one. I have loved Lucinda Williams for years, and this is one of her best. She has some great stuff in general, but really shines with bluesy songs like this.

  • As I've mentioned elsewhere on YouTube, no other world-class guitarist has his last name misspelled as often as the great Kenny Vaughan. You'd think his fans would make the effort to get it right.

  • Thanks for taking the time to comment on the clip.

I hope Kenny knows that he has a champion trawling the `net correcting spelling mistakes made in, and of, his name!

    My apologies to Mr Vaughan.

  • Right back at ya' with the thank you for posting this wonderful clip. My wife and I became instant fans of Kenny when we first saw him playing lead guitar for Sweethearts of the Rodeo at a county fair in Hillsboro, Oregon in the late '80s. Two songs into the show you could hear people buzzing about the young guitar phenom with the Beatle moptop and the Buddy Holly glasses. Ten years later and we were at Portland's Waterfront Park watching him play this very song with Lucinda Williams.

  • @andyinoregon prob. stevie ray?????

  • @andyinoregon I have been wondering who this guitar player is. Did he ever play with Kim Ritchie on Austin City Limits. I remember this awsome guitar player with glasses and I think it was him!

  • @tortugabob Good memory. Just type in 1997 - Kim Richey Those Words We Said. Kenny Vaughan lends his talent as a backing vocalist on this fine Richey tune as well as some stellar tremolo guitar.

  • @andyinoregon I just watched Those Words We Said and he is the one. Damn he is good. I just couldn't get over how good that guy was back when I saw that show. Thanks Andy!

  • @andyinoregon what about Stevie Ray Vaughan? i feel like he has his name mispelled often and he is a little more influential and well known than kenny.

  • @andyinoregon is that stevie's brother?

  • @andyinoregon nevermind....... lol

  • F&%K YEAH LUCINDA!!!!!!!

  • I heard that!

  • fun

  • the "fella playing the rather tasty slide" is David Mansfield

  • Thanks for telling me who the slide player is.

It`s great to be able to put a name to the talent.

  • Kicks ass!

  • love the guitars in this.

  • Girl Means business. Bring it! Hard core rock n roll.

  • This is my favorite cut from "Car Wheels---" Really great to see it on a "live" video. I learned about Ms. Williams from her duet with Evie Sands on "Cool Blues Story".

  • Lol there's a candle in front of her when she's like "I got a candle and it burns so bright". Sorry that tickled me.

  • Awesome vid. Thanks for posting.

  • this is the first lucinda williams song i consciously ever remember hearing. hooked me within the first 10 seconds. have been hooked ever since!
