favorite scene... when they have kidnapped some girls and were ahh "having their way with them" the cute girl in the white bikini says to the head biker "is this the only way you can get a woman?"
he says "its A way"
the good guys, the bad guys...everyone is so cool in this movie, and the sceneary is great also..one of the best movies with a crappy plot i have ever seen..
"we call him christ child because of his gentle compassionate nature"
The Born Losers is the originator of Billy Jack years before Paul Kersey in Death Wish, Ellen Ripley in Alien, and Richard B. Riddick in Pitch Black. Billy Jack is gradually introduced protagonist part-Native American Green Beret Vietnam Vet as a supportive to lead character fighting The Born Losers. Some politicos don't approve of Billy's karate tactics but, his violence is justifiable next to Bruce Lee's.
i think that this influenced all the early Chuck Norris movies. This movie was made after the James Bond series, Star Trek, The Wild Wild West & 2 years after The Green Hornet & a few years before the Kung Fu series & before 5 Fingers of Death hit the movies in America. But i still believe that the first american martial art movie is "Blood in the Sun" with The Great James Cagney, who's fight scenes were like watching the UFC. It was crude but Cagney {a Judo Black Belt} was intense.
billy jack should have been at altamont speedway taking care of business during the stones concert. he could have broke bikers' noses all night long. like some sort of wild video game.
BORN LOSERS was the American public's first introduction the 20th century Korean martial art, 'Hapkido', a eclectic, hand-to-hand fighting combat system originated from ancient Korean Tang Soo Do and Japanese Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu. Hence you see Billy Jack's fast sweeping and arcing kicks, edge of hand blows, and arm joint twists, locks, and takedowns. At the time, few people knew that it was Hapkido. Most assumed it was karate. Hapkido is still little known in the U.S., but more so today.
FINALLY!!! Took forever to find this. I remember several years ago I was on summer vacation in highschool, bored to death flipping through channels, and one channel that always shows really old movies was playing this, and it caught my eye. Ended up watching the whole movie and loving it. As a 23 year old who can't stand the idea of "men" in modern culture, this guy was a real man. You only get that in older movies. There are no real men in movies anymore. They're all fashion models. Not him.
I saw this at the Drive-In in the 60's, and instantly fell for Elizabeth James in that white bikini. She was in one more movie, and then I guess retired from show business. I think she writes children's books now under a different name.
I remember the 3 biker movies I saw that night. "The Wild Angels",(Peter Fonda, Nancy Sinatra), "Born Losers", and "CC and Company" (Joe Namath, Ann Margaret, and Bill Smith) Sure miss those sixties.
Hey Kersey475 buy a clue....re watch the movie, Billy helped a good guy And got to go to jail for his efforts ( This shit happens in real life ) Please remember its only a movie too, I ride but raping & robbing people not my style. You going to kill me cause I look like an OUTLAW biker??? Turn your attention on this people doing home invasions & holding people for ransom...if only you could hear the Phoenix news!!! "peace brother" At least till you get all the facts!
My only problem with this film is that I wish that Billy Jack was more sadistic towards those monstrous evil bikers. I mean, the thing I despise in movies is when the bad guys brutally rape, beat up, and kill the heroes loved ones (and the heroes themseleves) and all the hero does is shoot them. It's about time someone made a film where the antihero brutally kills his enemies in sadistic, painful ways. (Yeah, I'm a bit of a gorehound but I also have a "Pay Evil Unto Evil" moral viewpoint)
@Kersey475 Kersey, you need help. lowering yourself to the same level as those who act as animals, makes you one as well. Somewhere, civility must be restored. You may disregard my words, but if you read them, know that your thinking needs clear realignment for your own spiritual health.
You might be referring to the stylized, SIN CITY, from 2005 where antihero vigilante Bruce Willis' character mutilates, maims, tortures, and summarily executes particularly heinous, savage, vicious, ultra-violent, diabolical villains. It's a revenge fantasy of the highest and lowest order. But I must caution those here...never employ evil to destroy evil.
In the words of the main character of the anime "Code Geass": "What do you do when there is an evil that you cannot defeat by just means? Do you stain your hands with evil to destroy evil, or do you remain steadfastly just and righteous even if it means surrendering to evil?"
Not "never", but ONLY in extreme circumstances should evil be used to destroy greater evil in real life
It is the moral and theological belief of the modern Roman Catholic Church. I can't speak for other religions although am confident that Buddhism believes the same. When in desperation or deliberately, evil is employed to destroy evil, the victorious is still another evil. Worse, in these evil against evil conflicts, the winner ends up twice as powerful as before.
@Kersey475 Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is the best vengeance movie.Parents of murdered children are gathered and shown snuff tapes of there murderer kids that were filmed by the scumbag.Then they are told the dude is in the next room.Those mothers and fathers take turns going in the room.This is the movie your looking for.It was made by the dude that made OLDBOY! and Billy Jack owns Chuck Norris.
One of those so-bad-it's-good films. I actually like this better in some respects to the later Billy Jack movies. The girls are still good looking to this day. Notice Tom Laughlin had not learned his hapkido moves yet and kind of fakes it. Billy Jack as a true martial artist would come later.
"Born Losers" is great film. It unveils the truth that all Harley riders are really born losers and are trying to make up for their lack of talent by riding a substandard motorcycle. All Harley riders are really chronic under-achievers.
Hoky crap! I NEVER hearda this one before. I never knew there was a pre-BillyJack Billy Jack movie. So that means Laughlin played the character in 4 flims.
@tonyschmoeredux that right billy jack was a composite character a half breed indian named billy jack in the tall t played by skip homier and a newspaper story about an ex green beret that beat up a gang ,one thing thats true in this movie is the police are assholes that dont do anything but cover up for rapists ive seen it happen in four cases.

Interesting conversation here on morality.

Worse, in these evil against evil conflicts, the winner ends up twice as powerful as before.

@jeffyoung60
In the episode where the before quoted question was asked, another character responded "In either case evil remains."
Morality aside, Code Geass is a very good series.

@Kersey475 ,
I am no religious fanatic, but maybe this quote from the New Testament explains what I mean, better.
"Be....not conquered by evil....but conquer evil by good." -Romans, 12:21.
