Felt so glad for John when he won a national pba title after beating all the kids becoming the oldest player ever to win a pba national title even to this date
I use to bowl in a league back in the mid 80's that had John Handegard, Pam Buckner, Todd Thompson, and Joe Salvemini bowling in it as well....lot's of fun watching these old telecasts.
I grew up in Beaumont and was lucky to know and bowl with Mark. He's a great guy and an awesome bowler. I will always remember being able to bowl with him and watch him go from Jr. leagues to winning Pro Tournaments.
He nearly did it TWICE! One time, he took the 4-6-10 out of it, and another time he got some action out of the pit; the 6 popped up from the left corner, hit either the left edge of the lane or the left channel (not exactly sure which) and almost took out the 7 from behind.
By the way, there is a real old commercial for the ABC, featuring Earl Anthony, that ends with somebody picking up the Big 4. Hopefully, with a little luck, somebody could find that one and post it!
Also, on a side note, there were a couple pros who came close to making this split on TV; Steve Hoskins nearly made it in Rochester back in 1997 (that was the tournament he shot 300 in) and Tony Marrese (a left-hander) nearly made it at the 1990 True Value Open. Both were able to get a pin to bounce out of the back, but they weren't able to take out the 6.

Butch Soper nearly converted the 4-6-7-10 combination in Grand Rapids 13 years ago.

Yup. Then, a few weeks later, Mika made the 4-6-10 for a third time at it.
